Toxic body detected - Perspective scored 0.88824683
OK, so you do know that that word is inappropriate. Cool. So why didn't you find it in this question?
I initially figured it was because that question was simply larger than normal toxic posts are, but I cut that revision apart (still included the toxic bit) and ran !!/test on it multiple times in Charcoal Test, and it didn't grab it even when it was just down to "a jackass asking it:"
So in that case I guess the toxicity filter isn't aggressive enough.

@Spevacus Yeah, I was thinking the same thing: the length of the post and the absence of any other abusive words was reducing the toxicity score below the threshold that it would be detected/reported. But it looks like you already disproved that.
I'm not really sure this is worth any specific action. I wouldn't ever mark that as a TP, so why would we expend effort to get SD to catch it?

@Spevacus Saw that organically on MSE and didn't even notice that it might be anything other than the typical off-topic question asked on MSE...
But upon closer inspection after seeing Shadow Wizard's comment, I see that the same user had posted actual spam to SO a couple of days ago.
That just shows how much garbage MSE gets for some bloody reason...
Indeed.
it's MSE. the reason it gets garbage is self-explanatory because 'everywhere' sees it
:P
I'm glad it attracts the crap, keeps the rest of the sites a little cleaner.
@CodyGray kinda surprised the user wasn't torched network wide then :P
15:33
Next, @ThomasWard is going to explain to me why Stack Overflow gets so much garbage.
Maybe we can make it a less less "everywhere"...
@CodyGray it's StackOverflow, the Original and Largest Audience site in the SE network.
again, selfexplanatory
@ThomasWard The spam post was handled by "the community", not by a moderator, so the account wasn't destroyed. They just had to wait a few days...
:)
@CodyGray well a mod should destroy it now :P
@ThomasWard Done did it!
15:36
Of the 2619 questions asked on MSE in the last 90 days, 1458 of them (or 55.67%) were closed. Of those, 928 of them (or 63.65% of all closed questions in those 90 days) were due to being blatantly off-topic. Of those, only one question was reopened.
That feels like a lot.
I assume this is why "vanmfc.net" is caught already.

[ SmokeDetector | MS ] Potentially bad keyword in body (1): Iframe responsivo para movil by Alan Orellana on es.stackoverflow.com
@Spevacus Ask Ubuntu has a much larger footprint, so like the other SE sites it simply attracts a lot of crap.
The theme of the site is rarely relevant for the spammers.
but also has a rapid-response-from-community so :p
@Mast Prior to putting additional link shorteners on the list of shorteners, please watch them first for a considerable time. Some link shorteners tend to be predominately used by spammers, others are also used by regular users. There are a lot more link shorteners than get put on the list which are detected specifically as a shortener. The only way we can determine which ones might be largely used by spammers is to collect data on usage. We do that by watching the domain.
16:06
those spam flags are fun to watch fly
salts @Makyen
@Makyen So for now, just watch them like we would regular spam domains and eventually move them to the list if necessary.
@SmokeDetector ignore-
@ThomasWard sigh (at self), yeah.
i just was saying hi lol
:P
16:08
Why don't we just blacklist all URL shorteners?
If it's good enough for SE, it should be good enough for us.
blacklists every site on the Internet there problem solved. NEXT.
10
@CodyGray same question
@CodyGray Because SE doesn't blacklist all URL shorteners. They are routinely used in thousands of legit posts.
SE uses link shorteners itself, right? For amazon.
Or did they stop doing that?
> watched domains: .*\..*
Now who added that to the blacklist? :)
16:10
Well, maybe not all, but... an attempt is surely made.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think there's a legit reason to use a link shortener in a post on SE.
@CodyGray Yeah, but, like most lists such as that, it just makes people use other services to get around it. Also, new link shorteners pop up all the time. If that list isn't routinely updated, then it gets old fast.
@Makyen So, if only there was a way to catch them...
A watch system that could be edited by the community, even after the departure of dear old Shog...
@CodyGray Yeah, but that's not SD's purview. We don't have the person-power to be able to respond to the number of reports it would generate for otherwise legit posts. Even if we detected them, what would we do about it? We can't red-flag delete otherwise legit posts, just because it uses a link shortener.
