What do we do about a smokey report that has had an edit and no longer matches?
At the time, it's a successful report, but now.. not so much

@treyBake what report?

@CalvT the wtf is happening... one

give feedback on a post based on how it looked like when it was reported

@treyBake I think the right thing would be to tp it, as the report is somewhat abusive. But leave a comment saying that it was edited out, and don't flag it on SE

5:07 PM

@double-beep so are we helping Smokey with the rules rather than the post at current time?
@CalvT ahh ty :) will look into more commands and stuff so I know how to leave a comment xD

@treyBake this is correct. Although it's more we are helping metasmoke. Comments are left there, and all reports are stored there
Then we update smokey based on the information from metasmoke

@CalvT ahh awesome, thank you for clearing it up :)

I say we... I haven't done much for a long time so can't really include myself there!
But that would be the Charcoal regulars / core members

@treyBake You can leave a comment either by going to MS and adding the comment to the post, or by replying to the SD report in chat. SD will post as an MS comment everything that's a reply to a report, but which isn't actual feedback. That includes things in a reply that are after valid feedback. Comments will end up on the most recent MS post record for the SE URL. There are some other times/conditions which SD also adds as comments, but those times/conditions aren't as easily determined.

einpoklum - reinstate MonicaSE Inc. has sent me this promotional email about StackShare, directing me to this announcement. @Makyen gestyy.com seems like it will always be problematic because it tracks the click to pay the linker. Any objection to an early blacklist for it?

@Machavity Thanks for pointing that out. Coulda sworn I checked MS for posts with that site before giving feedback

@Machavity Looks like the posts on MS don't support it (2 of the 3 existing posts have FP feedback). If it is blacklisted, then it should probably be limited to things that actually are shortened links. The domain itself, without a link identifier, could be used to ask a question, although the domain by itself redirects to another domain. It would also be good to try to find if there are documentation pages/API/etc. links for the domain.
We've had similar link shorteners which have later had legit questions asked, so I'd like to at least try to avoid that pitfall. I don't have major objections, but it looks like we need some housekeeping/research/regex refinement prior to doing so.

@Makyen can a filter for osxdaily.com be added for Apple.SE ?

@ArtOfCode In theory, EC2-linux should now revert back to the "Auto watch" commit it's currently running, which is just prior to your changes, the first time it does a reverted restart. That happens after two "early exception" crashes. In other words, it should reasonably rapidly automatically recover.
I expect to be around for an indeterminate length of time, so should also be able to handle it manually. However, I do have a commitment which I will need to be afk for at some time today. However, the timing of that depends on someone else, so I don't know when that will happen.
BTW: EC2-linux just rebooted due to the following error:

@ankii My concern with adding osxdaily.com is that there are about 2,000 hits for that domain on Stack Exchange (search 1, 2). Of those, about 1,000 of them are on Ask Different (search 3, 4). Those results imply that there are going to be a lot of false positives.
Is there something in addition to just the domain which can be used to identify the posts which you want to detect?

@ankii Currently, directly checking a user's other posts is left up to humans, who can then manually have SD scan individual posts, or manually report individual posts, or all the user's posts.
If a user is found to have posted spam, then they are normally placed on a user blacklist (via feedback provided by humans). If a user is on the user blacklist, then any post of theirs which is scanned is reported, but scanning only automatically happens when a question or answer is first posted, is edited, is a question where a new answer is posted or edited, or is an answer on such a question.

ok so user blacklisting is the way to go..
not that big a concern either .. we're not flooded

@SmokeDetector which people are so free to do so

@ankii Users are added to the user-blacklist when a reported post is given tpu feedback, which means "true positive and put the user on the user-blacklist". They are removed from the blacklist if a post by them gets fp feedback. A user can also be added or removed form the user-blacklist with the !!/addblu <URL for user's profile> and !!/rmblu <URL for user's profile> commands.

I definitely need to read about these things. Thanks! I'll start doing the necessary by Sunday (signing up being the beginning)

@ankii We'd be happy to have you participate. The commands are here. There's an introduction to participating here, which goes through a bunch of information.
