@SmokeDetector It's unclear to me if we should be flagging these (there have been 3 from this user). IMO, they are clearly spam, as there's undisclosed affiliation and it's been repeated 3 times. On one of these, I custom mod flagged (marked helpful) due to it being at best a minimal answer, but the post was not edited (i.e. links left in w/o disclosure). On the other, I/we spam flagged (marked helpful) and the post was deleted. This one sort-of contains an answer, but it's real intent is spam.

7:40 PM
- #drugs is for your bog standard pharma spam, typically Markov-chain-like. These are pretty obvious.
- #visit-my-website is for people gratuitously linking to a website that doesn't really fit another category; think "I wrote a solution for this on my blog" or "this website has a good writeup on this"
- #buy-my-thing is for people selling physical things that don't fit other categories (i.e. not drugs)
- #software-utility is for "download this tool, it solves your problem"
- #training is for "X courses"; if they're specifically in India and posted entirely on SO then you want #so-india-tra

maybe even indicate the volume in the list, like SE does with tags

@ArtOfCode Given that Smokey now participates in autoflagging, does the flag from SD get auto-retracted when there's an "fp feedback on autoflagged post"? I suspect it doesn't happen automatically, as it would require new/different code, with different auth methodology (i.e. not through the SE API). However, the fact that it doesn't do so means someone with SD credentials will need to respond to each of those that occurs (and they probably should be pinged instead of @System).

Nah, we'll just take the declines

OK. That was the other possibility. :-)

Expanding the regexes to catch more of these new posts

@Zoe While that might be helpful, it's not the problem. They are detected and autoflagged when scanned.

Zoe
Still useful to have if the patterns change enough to avoid the regexes and autoflagging.

@Zoe I didn't intend to imply that it wouldn't be useful to adapt the regexes to more thoroughly detect the newer patterns. It helps to do so, as the content appears to be evolving somewhat.

tpu- by Makyen

Privacy Badger is stupid

because someone trained it wrong, for a joke

I used it for a while
Thing is, it trains itself by observing what third party domains are loaded by the sites you visit
and it automatically blocks a domain that is "following" you across several sites
So because metasmoke is embedded on all SE domains through the userscripts, PB will block it.

fp- by NobodyNada

And the worst thing about that behaviour IMHO is, that stuff works at first, then PB sees a domain several times and blocks it, and suddenly out of the blue nothing works any more, without any notice.
I got rid of it and now use Disconnect, uBlock Origin and uMatrix.

10:52 PM
A while ago I started using a JavaScript blocker extension for Safari
Thankfully it tells me when a new domain is blocked and I can choose whether or not I want to whitelist it.
It's super-useful, as most pages don't need Javascript at all, and it makes everything load faster and take up less resources -- and if I need JS I can keep the core website functionality and block the 3rd-party ads and tracking

@NobodyNada JavaScript blockers are quite useful. I've been using No Script, a Firefox extension, for years. It does change the process of going to a new site, when the site requires JavaScript (most give a basic idea of what the site is without JavaScript). Instead of having all the JavaScript load, you can selectively load scripts from different hosts (either temporarily, or permanently).
While not having their JavaScript enabled does make some sites less immersive, most random sites I visit are sufficient without JavaScript.
