hmm... who here knows the most about Smokey's ChatExchange integration and watcher functions, because I've got the thing spawning sockets, and connecting to a chat room, but it's not listening to new messages :P
@ThomasWard I've had that happen quite a few times when running testing instances, and haven't been able to figure anything out -- retrying usually doesn't help anything
The only thing I ever had much luck with is discarding my changes with git, running and then stopping Smokey, and then putting the same changes back, but that might be some sort of confirmation bias
i might be going and raiding other projects' chat systems heh
ChatExchange is chaos.

I know y'all are more talking about the management system on top of the chat interface itself, but FWIW: ChatExchange hasn't had much love in a long time, and bits of it are kind-of cobbled together. I'm reeducating myself about modern Python, and may be massively overhauling it if I feel confident that I'll be able to do it well.

It's going to be cleaner, faster, more reliable, etc etc etc.
@ArtOfCode i'm probably NOT building things right or missing a thread somewhere, but let me upload this somewhere... 1 second
@ArtOfCode github.com/teward/PyTIOBot - trying to take our chat handler which I'm a little more familiar with and create a whole new 'bot' from the chat infrastructure, stripping out the Charcoal bits.
It's connecting fine, can post to a room fine, isn't processing messages being sent to the room though.
