@Undo I think i know why my changes broke things heh...
but I'm not reimplementing
@ThomasWard Now I'm curious
well this is the revert diff:
those things in the try area, they're defined the previous 3 rows
since we don't redefine and get a new value, it infinite looped into oblivion
not sure how it'd affect API calls but it might with logons so i'm not doing anything
that early in the bootup process, at this point, I'd rather do nothing for now
i'm still not sure why it's failing
but i think i know why the loop went to infinity
oops i didn't include the diff heh
but because the value never changed it looped into oblivion itself
hence going nonresponsive and 'hanging'
we should consider throwing "print" statements or such to get an idea where we are on startup, but i'm a little too tired (and buzzed) to add them in just now
in any case, it explains why things started dying a week ago heh

@ArtOfCode @Undo @angussidney At some point, I'd like to launch Smokey in a debugger via PyCharm IDE, and track when we hit a TypeError, maybe tomorrow, so we can get a better idea of what's actually happening when it dies off with a TypeError, what result is being gotten from where, exactly. A little easier than a traceback because it goes right to the failure problem and captures a snapshot.
