\o/
I mean automatically following an --autopull, but I guess you already got that.
@ArtOfCode @Glorfindel Manual !!pull follows this logic: github.com/Charcoal-SE/SmokeDetector/blob/… Autopull is just the quickest CI (usually circle, or the failing one)
@Magisch this sounds suspiciously like Smokey
12:27
@Ferrybig OK, thanks. Now I only need to learn Python :)

I'm guessing the response ought to be valid JSON even if there are no matches
12:43
as far as I remember, we mostly abandoned this because the query took 3 minutes to run
chatcommands.py around 929 is requests.get(.../api/undeleted...).format(stuff)
@ArtOfCode ?!
@ArtOfCode maybe that code should be moved to a branch until it's useful ...?
@ArtOfCode does it check if the posts still exist via the SE API, or is it just retrieving MS data?
OTOH the visibility is nice for motivating somebody to work on it, I suppose
12:46
In the latter case, I can't imagine the query takes so long if you limit it to posts of the last 24 hours.
Actually, that's not working because the route is a 404
80 autoflags today already, we will surpass yesterday's result very soon, and stand to reach the previous record (94 autoflags last Wed)
@ArtOfCode Wouldn't the entire process just consist of grabbing whatever posts the deletionwatcher threads are watching and displaying them?
@Magisch nope, it consists of querying the database for posts that don't have a deletion log associated with them
SELECT * FROM posts LEFT JOIN deletion_logs ON deletion_logs.post_id = posts.id WHERE deletion_logs.id IS NULL;
would you be opposed to doing what Magisch proposes instead?
12:49
Limit that to posts of the last x hours and you should be fine.
that'd avoid the need for any Metasmoke interaction, too
@tripleee Opposed, no. But you're proposing to evaluate what threads are running, identify which are deletion watchers, and then identify what post they're watching... that ain't gonna be easy.
or for efficiency on the Metasmoke side, how about having a separate small table just for this and removing entries when they are reported as deleted?
that's kinda what deletion logs is about
@ArtOfCode Or have the deletion watchers write into and delete from a temporary table
12:52
except it records posts that are deleted
The table would hold all information you need, would be cleared on SD restart, and only ever hold currently watched posts
A table that never has more then 10 entries is lightning fast to query
I guess the alternative query is SELECT * FROM posts WHERE id NOT IN (SELECT id FROM deletion_logs);
@Magisch Smokey doesn't have a database - the only DB we have is metasmoke-side
@ArtOfCode You're nested selecting non-indexed double correlation there
thats devastatingly slow
@ArtOfCode Do a flatfile then
@Magisch a what now
that's just a subquery, and everything it's selecting is indexed. Won't be terrible
write post ids currently watched into a file and delete them before the deletionwatcher stops
@ArtOfCode Can you try it once?
12:55
@Magisch gimme a minute, need to switch systems
My guess would be that takes about a minute
that's still pretty abysmal for interactive dialogue
Restart: API quota is 2179.
1.15 seconds
both columns full indexed, eh?
12:58
@ArtOfCode not so terrible!
and that's only because it's a first-off query and not cached
running it again after that is giving me 0.07-0.10 seconds
all of this because I stumbled over this command while looking for how to recover from the CI failure

The entire anti-cheat is just a check that the speed is within "reasonable limits" of what the client code sets it as. Where "reasonable limits" is 2.5x the client JS speed.
