The primary difference between spam and legitimate advertising is that the former don't pay.

@JanDvorak Unfortunately spam does actually pay - albeit with a small ROI and a loss of company reputation - major companies have spammed and don't seem to care about that ...
"The spam posters get paid an average of $13 per post, for pages that have around 30,000 fans, up to an average of $58 to post on pages with more than 100,000 fans,"

@BrockAdams That's not abusive. That's a string of Chinese characters, which is NAA/VLQ.

@hichris123 That is abusive. Shog even agreed on that kind of thing. And the Chinese is affectedly incoherent.

Shog agreed that "cat on keyboard" can be considered gibberish. He said nothing about Chinese characters. You're quoting things out of context here.

Translate the Chinese. The resulting English is "cat on the keyboard".

And how reliable are translators? Again, not going to trust a translator on that.

Whatever; I'm not spending any more time on this.

@ArtOfCode I don't blame you for not noticing. Those things are very hard to notice.
There's so many different forms they take!

9:31 PM
@ArtOfCode You commands aren't going to work to merge that PR, you forgot to checkout back to the master branch. I actually recommend git fetch; git checkout master; git merge -X theirs fixup; git push

@Undo I'm working on adding regex search for body/etc. Is there any way to do github.com/Charcoal-SE/metasmoke/blob/master/app/controllers/… for {title, body, username, why} without so much repetition? I guess a function, but does Ruby/Rails have something that would make it easer?

@hichris123 To be honest, I've considered removing regex search.
Pretty sure there's some decent injection vulns in there.

@Undo With a carefully created abusive post and a regex, we can indeed use it as a DOS vector: owasp.org/index.php/…

@Ferrybig There's that, but there's also "can someone drop all the things"

@Undo Are you using prepared statements? If not, are you escaping stuff?

10:00 PM
@hichris123 How would you escape a regex?
Actually, I think that does end up being a prepared statement

Then it should all be fine.
Honestly, if body/etc regex search isn't going to be implemented, I'd be fine with removing it. Title search isn't very helpful.

Might as well implement it
Body search should be really slow, but I suppose that's okay

@Undo about your comment on the new FDSC update merge, I think it might be a good idea to force-merge the fixup branch into master, as the commits that were on master were meant to be a temporary revert anyway.

@Undo Hmm, yeah we'll have to see.
I'll work on it in a bit.

But to answer your question, I don't know of any Railsy magic to make that cleaner
One could probably shunt the repetition off into a function, though
