@ArtOfCode Or a Stylish thingy

@Kyll nah, IIRC I just need to add a class to the body element

1:00 PM
Would gladly receive it. I try to take care of my eyes

@Kyll best way to do that is to have sufficient light around the monitor, rather than reducing the light it outputs

@ArtOfCode Yeah I do both. Reduce light output / luminosity, add indirect light

also make sure you blink
sounds stupid, but your regular blink rate is about 30/minute, but when you use a computer it drops to about 1-2/minute

@kyll When I had problems with looking at my monitor, it helped for me reducing the color depth, but that trick doesn't work since windows 10

My mom's an optometrist, so I tend to trust what she says about eyes...

My eyes are messed up
According to the eye doctor, I may or may not go blind in 5-10 years >_>

fun fun

@Magisch Ouch

My eyes are way better than normailty says they should be

1:10 PM
Well I got -11 some on one and -7 some on the other
Not improving, apparently

...that's quite a lot.

no kidding
I'm more or less blind without my glasses

Last measurements, I'm -0.02 left and +0.01 right, with 21/20 distance.

Yeh, you're way better off then
My depth perception is near completly gone too
Means bicycling places gets ... interesting sometimes, and getting a driver's license isn't even an option
@ArtOfCode Is a sharp luminosity contrast considered harmful to the eye? I know its unpleasant, but is it actually harmful?

@Magisch shouldn't be, no
oh, luminosity, not colour
well done me
Um. Do you mean a sudden change between everything dark and everything bright, or having half dark half light?
Though I guess it doesn't matter, still shouldn't do any damage as long as "bright" isn't harmfully bright.

1:21 PM
Backoff received of 10 seconds on request to questions/128138;128085?site=mathematica at 13:21:23 UTC

@ArtOfCode I mean a bright white computer screen vs a completly dark background and rest of room

@Magisch it'll do you temporary damage while it's there, which will recuperate over about an hour afterwards
that damage does accumulate very slowly over time so it would harm your vision eventually, but we're not talking much more than regular life here

Assuming you sit on a weekend for 6 hours like that
(because I know people who do)
would that do permanent damage?

Apart from the social aspect of it?

@ArtOfCode I looked at your PR for metasmoke, but I have a question on the updated user page. I see you added a column to the users table. However, if the user that is logged in isn't admin, it means that the header row has more columns than the table body, is this your intention?

@Ferrybig so it will. Unintended, but... meh. It's not going to affect anything that much
dark theme doesn't affect quite as much as I'd like, but also meh
anything more means actually writing style code

@ProcessedMeat I learned something new today. People will complain, whether or not we do a fine job.

7:39 PM
@Andy yeah, I fixed that first

Q: spam filter variant

EngrStudentWe have a corpus of "bad questions" with justification. Have we considered making a spam-filter-like pre-filter that can test the question for it's badness and suggest to the question writer "this question is likely a bad question for reason 'x' so please re-read the requirements and try again"....

terribly misguided, though

@Andre you pointed at where SmokeDetector rents, not where it/he/she owns. Charcoal HQ is Smokey's headquarters. You can pay us a visit and see what we do. — Rubisco 15 secs ago
I like visitors.

What is this "Processed Meat" poster?
It has a negative user ID, so I'm assuming it's some kind of bot?

Posting stuff related to spam from metas across the network.
@apnorton Yes, a chatbot.

But not user-created?

No, SE's chatbot
They can haz custom names

Ah, cool

Nuked both
Sometimes I wish I had a network-wide diamond, then I snap back to reality and say "heck no"

You'd just have to apply for a job at SE...
Not as room cleaner though.

@Undo Thanks. And you don't need to be a mod if you have that last magic flag. :)

??? I flagged that as rude/abusive. Why did FDSC think I was reporting it again?

@DavidPostill Did FDSC make this report?

@BrockAdams Yes
@BrockAdams As you can see I flagged as rude/abusive

Yeah, but you also manually reported here -- Unless the FDSC script can make chat posts in your name (in which case I, for one, welcome our robot overlords).

@BrockAdams I did not manually report here.

@ArtOfCode Maybe sane to make that opt-in?

9:15 PM
@DavidPostill Okay. I'm just going by the transcript -- not being a user of that script myself (yet).

FDSC will now make a manual report but only if you are the first person flagging. In this case there was already a report. One line above.

Okay.

@DavidPostill could it be that you flagged before the bottom bar was showing? Maybe it thinks in that case that there is no MS record, and asks you to report it

@Ferrybig Possible. I wasn't paying attention to that.

Restart: API quota is 3491.

@Undo make what opt in?

Auto-!!/reporting
I assume that's a thing?

Yeah that's FDSC. That's @angussidney's domain, I don't know much about it

so many acronyms

@Undo too many :P
