@hichris123 Yeah, that's mostly unintended. Just a sec.
cc @angussidney
Is that any better?

Yeah that's perfect.

I'm tempted to hide it for signed-in users, but I suppose I'll get used to it just like any other footer.

I rarely scroll down that far so... :P

Yeah, but it looks a little weird on the non-long pages
s/weird/different, perhaps.

That is true. But since it's grey enough, it doesn't stand out that much.

2008 machine.

@Seth Unsupported, no OS updates.

@Undo good to know! (this is why I ask you these things lol)

For reference, that Pro has a single-core Geekbench score of 1588, compared to my laptop's (!) score of 3017
Of course, it's got a whole bunch more cores so it still wins on multi-core, but not by much

@Undo at this point Father is just looking to upgrade the old desktop, which is maxed out at dual core AMD processor from 2005 and 4GB of RAM.
~$200 is like max budget right now. We were just poking around to see if there even was anything for that price.

I suspect that Pro would run circles around a '05 machine
You do have to give it a hard drive, though
I'd probably want to get it to boot before buying it. There's some chance the hard drive controller on it is fried and they're just trying to get rid of it.
seattle.craigslist.org/see/sys/5802172693.html actually looks sane for that application. Might not run 10.12 perfectly snappily, but it'd probably be fine
Also, you don't have to worry about getting scammed because they obviously have no clue about computers.

2:33 AM

Either that or it actually has 4Ghz RAM

@SmokeDetector Probably not spam... not really abusive... NAA?

I basically use my '12 as a desktop, it works great with my external monitor. Unplug-and-go portability is an added bonus.
@hichris123 It's on the line between rude and NAA.
sd n

Yeah... more strange than rude, which makes NAA the best option probably.

196 battery cycles on that '10 machine is awesome. Mine has 800-some. 966

2:37 AM
@Undo Although if the laptop was kept plugged into the wall all the time, the battery could still be not so great. But if it was powered off a lot of the time, that would be fine.

@hichris123 Lithium ion batteries like being charged.

@Undo Well, back in the day, he picked this machine to last a long time and it really does still perform quite well, but he's getting back into software dev and could really use more RAM.
@Undo you're pushing the budget a bit there :p

@Seth Yeah, and I suspect they won't have any issues selling it at that price

@Undo Charged yes, but a long period of time with a constant charge cycle and no use isn't great on the wear of a battery.

@hichris123 Oh, yes. Occasional discharges are good.
Either way, 196 cycles on a '10 machine is pretty good
It's rated for 1000

2:40 AM
Spot the typo. https://t.co/3OYd6de8sU
That's an official HP ProLiant service manual. (it's under the "processors" paragraph)

Heh, I knew what to look for coming in. But that's still pretty awesome.

@Undo yeah. Like I said, we are just trying to see what the market is at. Probably won't be able to afford a decent Mac for a little while still :/

the smokedetector account instructions say to ping undo in here, I did so yesterday but he seems to have missed it, I guess ...?

it takes a while typically
as shocking as it is to believe, mods actually have lives outside of SE. Personally, I think this issue should be patched, but SE staff don't seem to care.

would it make more sense to change the process, maybe?

@KazWolfe Patched with restraints? =p

eh, users still need to be manually approved

I am in no particular hurry but it would be nice to know that my request won't get lost in chat history

8:08 AM
@Kyll i'm not against it, but mods can break free from them.
we need something stronger

@tripleee Too anecdotal to be worth it I think

it's actually relatively hard to miss a ping.

@Kyll mmm, lingering for an unknown amount of time isn't anecdotal

my approval took maybe, what, 36-48 hrs?

@KazWolfe if you're happy, I'm happy
I was afraid perhaps the instructions were not necessarily up to date or something, but if the process works, I have patience

8:10 AM
if you don't get a response tomorrow, it might make sense to ping Undo again.

will do so, thanks

@tripleee give it another day, then ping him again. Mine got lost after a week, and he responed almost immediately the second time

@angussidney sure, thanks for advising

Also, he is currently somewhere with low data allowance (I think), which may mean that he doesn't have physical access to the server
not sure if he needs that tho

i think ArtOfCode can do it as well.
Or anyone in the Charcoal Team.

8:12 AM
@KazWolfe only undo

@angussidney really? huh.

Cause he hosts the server, I think you need physical or FTP access to add a new user

i thought it was a line in the code?

@KazWolfe that's for smokey itself; yes, anyone with code access can do that

8:13 AM
but we're talking about MS

Oh.
Okay, yeah, that's a completely different beast.

Any opinions on my feature request?
Still no onebox for GitHub issues? Aww...

@ByteCommander looks good to me.

Thanks.
@angussidney How does the userscript for reporting posts work? Does it listen to the original site's Flag>Spam/Abusive controls or should there appear an extra button?

What if we had a reason like "Low percentage of vowels in post" or "High percentage of vowels in post", I am going to run some statistics on those when I'm home

Good idea.
Wasn't there some kind of gibberish classifier project somewhere?

@ByteCommander There's a new "report" link under the post (next to "share" in my case).

Ooooooh!
I didn't see it there.
Thanks!
But wouldn't it better be integrated into the Flag dialog?
At the position where the other userscript prints feedback on already reported posts.
Probably it would be best if @angussidney and @ArtOfCode merged their userscripts.
