You do have to give it a hard drive, though
I'd probably want to get it to boot before buying it. There's some chance the hard drive controller on it is fried and they're just trying to get rid of it.
@Undo Although if the laptop was kept plugged into the wall all the time, the battery could still be not so great. But if it was powered off a lot of the time, that would be fine.
@Undo Well, back in the day, he picked this machine to last a long time and it really does still perform quite well, but he's getting back into software dev and could really use more RAM.

as shocking as it is to believe, mods actually have lives outside of SE. Personally, I think this issue should be patched, but SE staff don't seem to care.

@angussidney How does the userscript for reporting posts work? Does it listen to the original site's Flag>Spam/Abusive controls or should there appear an extra button?
What if we had a reason like "Low percentage of vowels in post" or "High percentage of vowels in post", I am going to run some statistics on those when I'm home
