@Ferrybig done ^
It's not just for URLs, it's applied to the entire text to check.
I did consider the possibility of treating invisible characters like shy hyphens as a warning sign... but the reality is, a lot of non-spamming people ask about strange characters, or copy text from strange places.

1:48 AM
@Yvette cc @QPaysTaxes You somehow managed to beat the post creation in metasmoke by eighteen seconds
No idea how that happened
@QPaysTaxes force of habit; in the mod rooms we like to try to keep all the interested parties updated on stuff

Spaces are not valid URL characters, but we probably don't want to remove them from posts before analyzing them.

@Bookend Sometimes URLs contain spaces in posts b/c Chrome and others will replace it with %20 on the fly

> a lot of non-spamming people ask about strange characters, or copy text from strange places.
Often enough that false positives become annoying. We once thought "CJK spammers use fancy brackets 【 and 】in titles, surely nobody else will need them"...
Jun 12 at 14:34, by soup
Should we drop these brackets? Looks like some people from Asia are in the habit of using them to tag their posts in title, as is probably customary on their forums.

@Bookend IIRC it worked fine for a long time, though. Then the lang.SO sites started popping up

2:18 AM
We never applied that filter to lang-SO or other CJK-rich sites. The false positives showed up on SO.

@Bookend yeah, that is quite probable because many newcomers put the tags in the questions like [java].

Question titles like "【Python】Remove all invisible characters from a string"

@Bookend @ArtOfCode we really need to make this working. The link is supposed to show blacklisted websites, but it shows nothing as of now

I think that is a template for a hypothetical system of storing blacklisted sites in metasmoke. It was discussed a while back. There are some drawbacks, such as not making Metasmoke a dependency of Smokedetector.
In any case, I do not work on Metasmoke.
