There are many instances when the use is not offensive at all: e.g., some software or hardware is described in this way.

There is spam happy hour, 4-12 UTC (UTChour in range(4,12), to be precise). Post to the Tavern only then. This leaves 16 hours a day for rich nuanced conversations when CMs etc are awake.

Restaurant/bars already operate like that, with rather different ambiance during different parts of the day.
