The room is suddenly saltier...

heh
today's been evil so far XD

Today I've had a customer call in, somehow get past the support squad to me, who assured me that the emergency stop button for his machine wasn't pushed in.
I asked him to push it in and pull it out.
He said, "You're gonna hate me."
Lad had it pushed in the whole time.

Surely, with a bigger hammer, it could have been pushed in a little further? :)

This is true. I should've transferred him to sales.
I'm sure we could markup one of the shop's hammers 300% for the occasion.

@cigien That was just gibberish
there was no question
just agfkjasdbfkjsdabfgkjasbdkjfbasdkjdfbasdjkfb

@Dharman There's a question in the title, and there was code in the body. The additional filler text was added by the OP to bypass the quality filters. Since there was a sincere attempt by the OP to ask a question, and the content is salvageable, that's not something we want to block at the system level.

That is certainly abusive
And there was no question in the title. That is just part of the error message they saw
not even with context as to which line threw this error

It's not abusive by Charcoal standards though. For it to be abusive, there pretty much needs to be intent on the OP's part to cause harm. I don't see any indication of that in this question. If the post contains nothing but garbage, that's definitely abusive, and is tp.

If a this was a normal question with some nonsense added to get over that character limit, I would edit it out and post a comment telling them not to do it. In this case, there was nothing to salvage. It was just gibberish

9:30 PM
When you say nothing to salvage, are you by any chance using your PHP expertise to make that judgement? As far as I can tell, there's code, and an error message, which could easily be an on-topic question.

ok, so maybe by Charcoal standards this is FP, but by my standards if someone abuses Stack Overflow to post nasdfkajsdfbkasjdfbasdfkj then this deserves a red flag

Sure, go ahead and raise a red flag, that's perfectly fine. Even though there's obviously tons of overlap, a red flag on a site doesn't necessarily translate to TP. Same is true in the reverse direction.

Code and an error is a terrible question, but here this is code dump and a part of an error posted in the title. What kind of answers could anyone aim to seek here? I won't bother reading the code if I don't know what the question even is.
My flag will probably be declined now
That's ok

Sure, I don't disagree with your assessment of the quality of the question. I don't personally think it d was sufficiently low quality to deserve a red flag, but regardless, quality issues are not really the focus of this project. I'd be quite happy to discuss how to deal with that (and such) posts in SOCVR.

Imagine someone coming to your desk, throwing flash drive with code in your face, blurting out "syntax error" and then vomiting right in from of you.

9:37 PM
I would be very upset, and be likely to not offer help to that person again. However, I wouldn't call the cops on them. I'm not generally a fan of analogies, but that's the distinction between quality filters, and system level blocks that I'm trying to illustrate.

No point in discussing it further. I will chuck a delete vote at it for good measure and call the matter solved. The MS report is marked as FP.
