@Mast that's like the 5th apnews item I've seen, why don't we just blacklist apnews.com?

@ThomasWard Because not all of them are spam.

It's like that streetinsider site, a hub of 'news'.
And some of it is outright crap/garbage/spam.
But where streetinsider uses folders to separate the obvious crap from the rest, apnews uses strings like you see in the reports.

This is getting out of hand...

Really weird scenario.

6:25 PM
Yes.
Until recently we weren't watching the entire domain, but it was added last week or so.

@Spevacus it's a #drugs-collateral-notspam situation

> The domain is not a spam domain as such, but it tends to get abused by #drugs spammers to host click-through content.

6:28 PM
Perhaps we should simply ignore the domain altogether, but some of them get posted frequent enough for the specific page to get blacklisted.
Which helps.

for more context: Associated Press is a news broadcast and redistribution agency, and they distribute press releases from companies

spammers are apparently posting spam in the form of press releases and abusing AP to host their content

6:31 PM
note that the spam pages have a disclaimer:
> Press release content from TS Newswire. The AP news staff was not involved in its creation.

Mmm... Gotcha.
@Rubiksmoose You just blew by 3,000 reviews in RyanM's review leaderboard query.

@Spevacus ...wait, 3000? Surely that isn't from today only right? There's no way.

Between today and Sept. 7th.
That query's for the whole 2020 review cleanup effort (which I guess is what we're calling it now)

hah! well I'm in the groove today. Got myself a method and a rhythm going :)

6:36 PM
I feel like we could come up with a better, more-Charcoal-y name for it though.

^^this appears to be a case where the answer was copied onto multiple questions. That shouldn't affect the fp here right?
Or should it be tpu?

@Rubiksmoose nah, doesn't look like spam to me

@Rubiksmoose Just VLQ

6:45 PM
TPU == red-flag (IMO, and seems to be general concensus)

Coolio

@NobodyNada Yeah that's the way I've been treating it as well. That's a great Teams post. I'll be saving that and referring back.

Think that's official.

6:46 PM
@Mast It pretty much is, but there's a few grey areas. The Teams post I linked goes into more detail about how I treat some of those

> If SmokeDetector was implemented as a system-level block, would we want to catch this type of activity?

@NobodyNada There always are. :)

tp- feedback received on [MS] Is "uncarefully" a word?

> The NAA feedback is disabled on questions, as questions are, in fact, not answers. But what if the question is VLQ, off-topic, too broad, or otherwise considered ‘bad’ by SE’s quality standards? Often, it’s not entirely clear whether the tp- or fp- feedbacks are appropriate.

In these cases, it’s recommended that you pick the feedback type that feels most appropriate (if you’re still unsure, err on the side of caution and choose f). Then, leave a comment on the post indicating what is wrong with it, and why you chose that feedback.

More importantly though, we as a team seem to be approaching 4500 feedbacks today! We may even break into the 18,000s in the queue.

I'm hoping they're good feedbacks though.
Don't sacrifice accuracy for speed.

@SmokeDetector Not a seed question?

6:58 PM
this might sound like Unpopular Opinion, but of the ones that aren't actually spam, @Mast, which APNews articles are actually relevant to any specific post?

because if all the ones hitting here are legitimately spam, how many across all of SE are spam too?
relevant important question

@ThomasWard You'll have to ask that to the mods on skeptics. They got a lot of posts with links to it.

!!/bisect apnews.com

@ThomasWard 'apnews.com' is not caught by a blacklist or watchlist item.
