Oy, what is this 3-digit review queue ;-)
(just kidding of course)

Real Life started becoming time-consuming recently. :(

Same. And hard. Busiest I've ever been at work.
I'm sorry to hear that BTW. Stupid real life!

You know, if we all decided to always burn the queue every time it hits ~1000, we'd probably have a decent system to stick to.

End of month burnings might also help
4

That'd probably be a more sustainable way to get people involved.

5:37 PM
We could even make it a chat event!

!!!
Do we have any of those in this room currently? I don't think we do.

I think it would be the first time I've ever been a part of creating one.

Well that's a pretty darn good idea, then. It would also move us away from the really-unlikely-to-be-done idea of keeping the queue at or close to 0 at all times.
@Rubiksmoose Oh, didn't see this. Thank you! I wish you well at work, too :D

Thanks :-)

Say we have 500 items in the queue at the end of each month, that need to be targeted by 2 users each. How much userhours are we talking about each month to kill that?
@Rubiksmoose ^

Hm. Did we ever do any testing to see, on average, how long it takes a user to review an item?

If there's a log of all reviews by a user and you know a timeframe in which a user was doing it continuously, you could extrapolate a rough figure.

@Mast if people take 1 minute per review that means we'd need at most 1000 minutes of review time so about 17 hours? That seems like a decent top end figure for that # of reviews.

Because I think I was averaging significantly below 1 min/review if I had to guess.

Some of them are easy slam dunks. Others require a little bit of investigative work.

@Rubiksmoose So, couple of users about a full working-day?
I'm assuming 2-3 users will take the brunt most of the time.

@Mast sounds about right

@Spevacus It gets easier the more time has passed.
Due to posts already being removed or not.
Helps with the indication.

The mods almost outnumber the non-mods.

7:12 PM
And the rest is proficient enough to know how to get those mods involved. Flags went network-wide.
Literally...

Flags on chat.SE are handled insanely quickly, especially non-mod flags. The number of >10k network rep users in chat at any given moment is really high - and that's if and only if a mod doesn't sweep stuff up before the >10kers get a chance to.

In this case, the 10k'ers got involved, I got notifications.
They went down one-by-one really fast after that :-)
And then the rest was cleaned-up seconds later.

Maybe they need more nominations? Wouldn't all current nominees simply be appointed?
Heck, maybe you should nominate :)

@Spevacus 4 candidates, 3 votes.
Should be fine.

@Mast Ah, here we are. Cesar posted a Q&A: history.meta.stackexchange.com/questions/4198/…

@Spevacus Heh, no, I'm not invested enough in that site.
Should CR need another mod I'll definitely be running.
But if all they need is another nomination to go ahead...

I'm a bit SoL on that front: My main site's MSE, which has three appointed mods. Chances for that changing are probably pretty slim, and even if it did, there are so many more qualified folks.
