Q: Duplicate deletion (same time) in question timeline

gerritImpressed by how quickly a post on Academia SE was correctly flagged as spam, I looked at the timeline for Academia post 142860 (10k on Academia required) — it was deleted 58 seconds after posting, very good: The screenshot shows that the question was asked 2020-01-14 11:34:36Z, and got delete...

@Undo possibly? My own server is in use, and while there's some spare capacity I don't think it's enough to take metasmoke's load. Buuuut... there's the server that's currently hosting Redunda, which is one of @ThomasWard's - if he's happy, we could potentially host on there.

@SmokeDetector naa- Gonna call NAA on this one, as all it's really doing is redirecting to an external resource, just with a script instead of a link. You take away that script, it's got nothing. Link is dead, as well
ah, spelling

@Undo what's the resource minimums for MS?

I might be able to space 4 CPU and 4GB of RAM in my virtual cluster
which is sitting in my apartment right here. points at his server cluster
or we can use resources from the box Redunda is on as well, I can up its resources too if I have to

Oh nice, always good to have the hardware close by. In case you need to apply "percussive maintenance" :D

@ThomasWard That's waaaaaay more than it needs
(it's woefully underpowered now, but that'd be more than enough)

4:45 PM
heh. let me get some food first. I havent eaten since lunch yesterday
but I'd be happy to run MS out of my server cluster.
@Das_Geek Well there’s a few other considerations about the ‘cloud’ - namely some data should be kept in a way that isn’t remote-accessible from the world :P
Or to other sysadmins, so running out of my lcluster makes sense :P
darn keyboard >.<
lunch first though :P

@ThomasWard Of course. I was just making a little joke :)

@Undo will an Ubuntu 18.04 box do or do you need a specialized OS for deployment?
working on prepping a server now :)
'cause i'll need to coordinate with you and Art for initial deployment / migration but it's entirely doable :) (I've got more than enough resources to run this)

is the ubuntu server OS any good? Used CentOS for anything server-y as I hated the ubuntu frontend and at the time and based my decision on that xD primary use: web server

I have no idea. I actually avoid Ubuntu. Linux Mint is what I use on a laptop my kids use

5:14 PM
Yeah, me neither. I tend to use Debian, but they all look the same when all you have is a command prompt :P
@Machavity Great idea: get them started early. They'll be Vim masters in no time, and they'll never go through an awkward phase as a result

Yeah Linux Mint = desktop fo' sure :)
ah good point, I saw ubuntu server OS seem to spike in popularity and wondered why xD

@SmokeDetector spam That website was tp-ed before, with similarly-named users posting the link. Definitely spam
Looking at the reports containing the domain I just gave feedback to, it looks like every single one of the reports uses similar language and always contain certain phrases like ending with "hope this helps". I think these are all posted by the same user, and I think all the reports should be tp

@Makyen Can you weigh in on the theory I posted here? I could argue for the feedback for all those reports being changed to tp and blacklisting the website, but I could be overzealous

@SmokeDetector tp- The whole body of this question is text copied from the formatting guidelines, and it is unrelated to the topic given in the title. I don't think I'd red-flag this, but I'd definitely be willing to have a system-level block stop it. This may imaginably have resulted from a mistake, but no more likely than a body consisting entirely of nonsense, and I don't think this is any better than that.
