I guess that depends on how you look at it. It could go either way, but I'd expect it to be written such that it did look at edits. After all, if someone is editing, then they want the new version of the message/command to be what's displayed/applied. I could certainly see not detecting edits not being in the first version of the code (it's probably more code), but I'd expect it to be added at some point.
