@iBug it's ironic that the idea behind using those characters is to make it harder for machines to detect spam. With us, it just makes it more likely to be autoflagged ...
 
the idea might also be that the spammer doesn't know about using markdown at the proper places — not in the title!
or that they don't even know markdown is a thing
