Hey guys. Can SmokeDetector detect cross-site dupes, such as when a user posts the same question at nearly the same time to two or three of our maths-related sites mathoverflow.net , math.stackexchange.com , cstheory.stackexchange.com , stats.stackexchange.com , crypto.stackexchange.com , scicomp.stackexchange.com ?
That happens often, and it's easy to miss by humans, but a bot with long attention spam could be better in catching them.

@doppelgreener That pattern looks like it's already caught by Potentially bad keyword in answer and Potentially bad keyword in body; append -force if you really want to do that.

@b_jonas When I reported cross-postings, some moderators even declined my flags

@b_jonas That sounds like a worthwhile thing to have a bot looking out for, but as it isn't related to spam, I don't think Smoke Detector should be the bot doing it. Maybe you could talk to SOBotics about whether there's a cross-site duplicate detector bot?

@Glorfindel It's not spam, sure, but it's a case where we usually delete all but one of the questions, unless there are already answers on more than one when we notice, and write a comment to the user. At the very least, even if we don't delete, we want to add cross-links in all directions, which those users often forget.
@doppelgreener So it's not in the scope of Smoke Detector? Ok.

@JohnMiliter I can't seen to reproduce your review issue, it works for me. Any chance you have some extension like NoScript that's blocking javascript? Looking into the userscript thing now.

@doppelgreener @b_jonas SOBotics doesn't have any cross-site duplicate checkers. There's a dupe checker for some tags on SO, but that looks for when a question has been flagged as a dupe IIRC.

@Zoe I see.

11:34 AM
@Zoe Don't they have a plagiarism checking bot, which could prolly be amended to work cross-site?

Zoe
They do, not sure if it works cross-site. But it checks linked posts IIRC
Finding cross-site linked related posts doesn't happen because of the site design.
> Every 60 seconds, Guttenberg fetches the most recent answers (the "targets") on Stack Overflow. For each of these answers, possibly related posts (for example answers to related questions) are collected. All those posts will be checked for different characteristics (such as the Jaro-Winkler distance of the posts). If at least one of the characteristics meets the requirements, a message like this will be posted in chat: [image]

@Undo Thought: In the deploy-ms repo, create a branch. When a dev pushes the deploy button, MS pushes a commit to that branch with the command git commit --allow-empty -m "Deploy started on <sha> by <username>". That'll let us keep travis history.

Might be possible to start a new build without a commit
Should be

@Undo Builds are linked to commits, no?

Yes, but not necessarily uniquely
MS currently just triggers a rebuild of the last one.

I do have javascript enabled, but other users can't reproduce the issue.

Regarding the userscript issue (the review issue could be anything, but I got a ruby error when trying to get an access token): I was thinking that it may have to do with the "core" privilege. I don't have it, but thesecretmaster (who tried to reproduce the issue) does have it.

I know that a lot of ms is restricted from people who don't have that role. Maybe by error, the ability to get access tokens for userscripts is only available for core users. That might be something to look into. Can other users with reviewer
I do have an older version of chrome. That might be responsible for the review issue, but I don't see how that could prevent me from getting access tokens. I did post a screenshot earlier.
version 48.0.2564.116 of chrome

4:19 PM
@JohnMiliter Your Chrome version is too old. A brief check of FIRE indicates it uses features which require, at least, Chrome 49 (2016-03-02). I didn't exhaustively check, just some likely issues, and stopped once I found an incompatibility. The JavaScript feature was destructuring assignment. I'm not sure it would produce the error in your screenshot, but it wouldn't work.

@JohnMiliter whoa what an ancient version...

@JohnMiliter the error you got is indicative of rails-ujs, our UI driver, being inactive. I've only known that happen when JS is disabled or when an extension is interfering - do you have Privacy Badger?

or any other similar extension - NoScript, some aggressive adblockers...

I do have an adblocker, but I whitelisted metasmoke.

I got on another computer with a newer operating system just now, and it seems to be working. Sorry for the confusion
I'm running BOTH fire and fdsc, they don't seem to conflict

No problem :)
Aye, they shouldn't conflict
