@Mithrandir agreed, but if they are really doing this on an industrial scale, they probably have some domains which will never be used in spam on half the sites they target so that they can do various kinds of A/B testing (including, but not limited to, restricting their spamming on sites where the backlash is strong)

Possibly. We'll see what happens, it appears to be a recent effort.

probably helps if you know that Yandex is a popular service in Russia

@tripleee did you have words from the team name in the question?

hoping that we are guardians of the Internet at large; - well, our site does say "spam crusaders of the internet"

@user5389107 not directly
@Mithrandir yeah I think we need to think about changing some of the materials we have, not much but slightly
I originally wanted to ask about creating a presentation page for including into abuse reports but if we can polish the materials we have, a dedicated page just for abuse reports is probably superfluous and distracting

medium is going to be annoyed at me, aren't they :P

@Mithrandir maybe you want to approach them by email and explain what's going on and perhaps ask if there is a less annoying mechanism you should be using

I was just thinking that.

9:18 AM
but god knows I've tried that and received mostly silence and/or odd misunderstandings
"you can send reports by email" seems to be the best reply I have received so far
but not every organization will accommodate even that
I know of some microformat for email abuse reporting (I mean, reporting abusive email, by email) but I don't think I've seen any attempt at formalizing this for web content

if there was a format, we might want to publish our TP verdicts as an RSS feed or something

if Pulse Monitor could tag Halflife posts which contain //medium\.com/ with a_unique_string you could get a pretty nice RSS filter out of chat.stackexchange.com/feeds/search/a_unique_string
but @medium or #medium won't work because the search stupidly ignores the punctuation
the notification logic could easily be refactored to do this, just expand it to assign arbitrary output tags to arbitrary regex matches
instead of just pinging the user who set up the regex
sadly chat.stackexchange.com/… doesn't do anything useful

@tripleee possibly restrict it to answers? Is that possible?

@Mithrandir technically speaking absolutely, but I have not looked into where exactly this is currently defined ... if it's part of a more-complex regex maybe some refactoring is required (in which case maybe just remove it and see if we can live without a separate rule just for that)
