So, what's a good way to actually do searches that don't load down MS?

run your own MS instance?

SQL on a local database dump

Seriously, I've done 1 search total since the last time this came up.

@Makyen look I've been telling Art to get up solr for a while

@quartata That's not good.

3:30 AM
I don't think there even is a non-blocking AR

@Undo honestly, even though I've only barely dabbled in SQL, that's probably the way to go. Sigh.

It's a good skill

Yeah, I'm just frustrated. However, the reality is that it's the only way that I see doing anything that's not just toss it on the watchlist and see what happens. The other side of it is that such searches really should also be run against the SE database too, to check for false positives which aren't in the MS database. The point is not to just discriminate between what's already been categorized as human-checked FP, but that it shouldn't generate a bunch of additional FP on the larger corpus.

fp- by micsthepick

Is there, currently, any way to do detections just on content that's not in code format? My intent in asking isn't to completely exclude detecting in code format, just to have detections which are split between text found in non-code and those fount in code. My expectation/hypothesis is that detections of text not in code format will have a much higher TP/FP than those detections of text in code format. This isn't what I've been searching on MS, but it is something I've noticed in results.

3:48 AM
As a method, sure
not with the blacklist, unless you used a lookbehind maybe

Yeah, it wouldn't be efficient to do it as only a RegEx. The only reasonable way to do it would be to parse the text to split the content prior to feeding it to the RegExes.

@quartata absolutely

@Makyen Many of the existing methods do that, all it takes is ` 'stripcodeblocks': True,`

@SFTP Know of any good way to model stripcodeblocks in a SQL search of MS data?
Or would one have to process it through Python?

@Undo it's a regex replacement. If the flavor of SQL supports it...
Importantly, it has to be a lazy match, <code>.*?</code> - not <code>.*</code>

@Undo I like that, thank you! I think I'll go with SwORM or something like that
@Undo But is "charcoal.all" a sub-team of "charcoal", or are they separate?

I don't think there are sub teams, but could be wrong
oh, yes there are
That sounds promising

@SFTP Yes, but that doesn't handle a page with a structure like <code>foo<code>bar</code></code> You can do something that does handle it, but it gets significantly more complex. I'd have to check to see if what SE provides in the body escapes something like that.
