cc @Undo Writers -> Writing, MS site ID 64 is defunct in favor of 354; Post.where(site_id: 64).update_all(site_id: 354)
(check your IDs are the same as mine, they may not be)

if you're using a dump, they should be

Am, but I don't know if the work I just did messed with them or not

Rails should yell at you pretty badly if you play with site IDs
Foreign key constraints

true

11:03 PM
So what happened with writers/writing? They renamed the site and it turned into its own thing?

Closure is an ineffective way to combat spam seeds. The server doesn't prevent answers to closed questions until four hours after closure, during which time spambots can post answers through the API.

spammers are dumb

We have determined spammers

@Undo yeah, because we do a find_or_initialize_by on site domain, which changed, so we got a new record

Oh, gotcha
@gparyani but relatively few smart spammers. Using the API is pretty inconvenient if you're a spammer, anyway.
can't create accounts, auth is cumbersome

11:05 PM
Not sure how we could have technically prevented that one, actually. Both unique keys (name and URL) changed

Not all spammers are human; some are spam bots

humans write the bots, the humans are lazy and dum
... ya know what, I'm gonna leave it like that

humans have to write the bots... and if I never have to touch the MS-SE auth code again it'll be too soon

@ArtOfCode MS-SE is actually okayish. I can comprehend the whole thing in my head, which is more than can be said for a lot of what we do

wow, that's a real failure

Yup

rails has a huge stack

11:15 PM
and I have no idea what's wrong with it
and now running tests locally is broken

@ArtOfCode update is triggering after_commit

ew

you told it to run something after every save... and the something saves

I'm sure I said on: :create, but... right

oh, yeah. No idea, then
now taking bets on test results

11:19 PM
pass

if you lose I get one squidge tweet
