I'm surprised by the issues you're having, in the past I've just had to install virtualenvironment via pip, virtualenvironment env, source env/bin/activate, then pip3 install -r requirements.txt --upgrade etc
No matter whether the user has a past history of spam, we can't delete a post which isn't an unsolicited advertisement and which doesn't actually mention the product that they're supposed to be spamming
SE rules require that you disclose affiliation. I would have edited the post rather than actually flagged it, but we should give feedback to MS based on the revision stored in MS
Man, I really hate it when that rule is applied blindly. As you said, @angussidney, a simple edit and/or comment to let the OP know the rules, would have been enough.
Whether I edit or flag depends on how spammy the post sounds and how useful it looks. If it looks pretty spammy/pretty useless for the question provided, then I'll flag, but if it otherwise looks good I'll edit/comment
@iBug The thing is robocopy is a valid tool provided by MS as part of the operating system. That means it is very unlikely to be spam unless other spammy tools are also menationed.
@angussidney Yes, I know. But the product looked like it might be valid, and I couldn't see any indication that anyone took the time to explain to the OP what they were doing wrong.
@DavidPostill @terdon @iBug I went through those posts and fixed up the feedback on the ones that I think we agreed were/weren't spam, let me know if I didn't do something right and I'll fix it up in the morning
@NogShine Since smokey by default doesn't post any messages in the hinduism chat room, even if you register for pings inside that room, you won't get any. What you can do for the pings is registering with this room id in the notify command, and you will receive ping messages in this room.
@terdon I think I know what you're saying here, but some people here would be confused about "but you said not to comment". It looks like a direct contradiction.
@Undo Edit, preferably, and comment if you're a site regular, I guess.
I just want to avoid either of i) a new user greeted with spam flags, deleted posts, and all the associated baggage without having been given any explanation as to why their post might be considered as spam and ii) a new user being put off the site because of an aggressively worded comment by a charcoal user jaded by dealing with metric craptons of spam every day.
