@Catija envelope going in the post tomorrow, I'm told 5-7 working days to get to you

12:14 AM
@angussidney checks out

@ArtOfCode Yay!!!

@ArtOfCode sorry I didn't see your comment earlier
so like with the bodyfetcher we make one instance of the DeletionWatcher class in ws.py and store it as a global var
this in turn opens up the SE websocket and creates one thread to listen to it forever
DeletionWatcher then maintains a dictionary mapping the action string (so essentially post and site ID) to a tuple with some of the post data as well as an array of callbacks
(the callbacks can also have optional expiration times)
DeletionWatcher.subscribe sends the <site id>-question-<question id> down the websocket if it hasn't already (i.e. not in the dictionary), then also registers an optional callback + expiration time
posts are always subscribed to without a callback in spamhandling.handle_spam just to get metasmoke deletion stats
the other two places are for handling the delay and delete report if post is deleted (usual stuff)
the only other thing of note is that the posts we're listening to are actually pickled
when smokey restarts, it'll use the SE API to check if they were deleted (or cull them if they were marked FP/ignore/whatever). if any weren't, it'll continue listening for them
since there's just one socket it's cheap to listen to posts, we can listen to pretty much as many as we like
I've sent 500+ actions down the SE websocket before and it didn't care as long as you didn't do it too fast

12:35 AM
Cool
are we good to merge that?

i'll be honest
i have no idea
i can't remember if it works or not
i think it does? i'll find out I guess

I'll have a quick look
Too complicated for me to give a proper opinion at a quick glance

I think you broke regex @angussidney

Where?

read the comments on your last commit
i fixed the problem by the way
you removed the \ around the period, so that introduces additional false positive chances. Side effect of regex being regex.

Does Smokey have Twitter? It'd be fun to see a stats post each day X spam found & removed today... sort of thing.

Sorry I didn't look earlier, assumed you were still working on it

@Undo I'll read it more later, but I wanted to point out that block time isn't a factor in anything
If a room is blocked, then it just stops
The two subscriptions are for deleting the report if the post is deleted and not posting a message to a delay room if the post is deleted (I.e. tavern)

Yeah, that makes sense
Just don't understand where the 300 came from on :265

Incidentally, been evaluating some JS alternatives. Coffeescript is nice since I already know it and it integrates well into the Rails build process

Q: Allow retracting flags from the API

UndoFor a project I'm working on, it'd be nice to be able to retract flags through the API. We allow people to retract flags from the web. Could this functionality be extended to the API? It could work such that you receive a 'Retract Flags' option on calls to /questions/{id}/flags/options, then pas...

Yeah, we've wanted to do it in the past but we're not going to since there's no API option

Restart: API quota is 15570.

@K.Dᴀᴠɪs This requires logging in to a session, which is impossible given only an SE API access token.

@iBug It's almost certainly just a AJAX call. It would be easy to determine how to do so, it just would mean going around the SE API, which isn't "supposed" to be done.

8:24 AM
@Makyen You only have an API access token, how?

@Makyen yes, but then you need to be logged in as other users, which isn't possible

You do not have their emails and passwords

At a minimum, it would be possible to have a userscript running on the user's machine which listens for a in-chat notification, and does it.

@Makyen Good idea but I doubt it worth the dev time, given its use case.

@Makyen If someone's currently in chat with a userscript open, then they can also respond to a ping and do it manually

8:26 AM
@angussidney Not if they are asleep.

Maybe delay the autoflagging by, lets say, 10 seconds. It can then base off feedback provided and make final determination then

@angussidney If someone's currently in chat, there's no need for a US.

usually we have a good response time

@K.Dᴀᴠɪs That's against the target of autoflagging .

@angussidney Leaving a desktop machine on with a browser tab open to chat is an easy thing to do. It doesn't require the user to be present.

8:29 AM
@Makyen Dev time vs. use case?

@Makyen "https://stackoverflow.com/flags/posts/xxx/retract/PostXXXXX"

We were talking about maintaining a Twitter account (for feeds) when angussidney said this:
4 hours ago, by angussidney
But really, in terms of dev time, is it more important that we get a twitter account or get a few more issues fixed?
I'm not denying the maintenance of a Twitter feed, but that's convincing. So same reason here.

@iBug That trade-off is the key. At the moment, it's probably too high wrt. dev-time. That might change.

When that changes

Point is, this happens very rarely, and when it does, people are usually around to fix it themselves. Worst comes to worst, you get a declined flag once a year or so - you signed up for that a) when you enabled autoflagging, and b) when you reduce the weight below the recommended which massively increases the amount of FPs. Utlimately, we don't want to spend a long time building a large hackish solution only for it to be used by very few people, and break next time SE changes something

8:32 AM
Yeah I just keep my autoflagging rule levels a bit lowered, never had any fps before

We've flagged nearly 30k posts ever since, and only 69 are FPs so far.

If an API option gets introduced we'd implement it in a heartbeat

we'd implement it in six to eight somethings
[feature-request] [status-deferred] autoflag retraction

8:49 AM
We'll respond to your FR in six to eight months
