@ArtOfCode Quick Q for you. This answer appeared, and I originally marked it as tpu, as it appeared to be from an unregistered/garbage user. My R&A flag was marked as helpful from the mods, but there was some disagreement to naa there. I believe this should have been marked as tpu for SmokeDetector's filters.

New script: MS Review Keyboard Shortcuts to make reviewing quicker
5

yay
@ArtOfCode um, maybe add v and k as keys too?
(both for "True Positive")
many people do use v and k as feedbacks, so V and K feel appropriate

done

@EriktheOutgolfer is that shift+v and shift+k because I think lowercase is better :p

@Henders definitely not...

it's the keys V and K on your keyboard

ooh, looks like somebody loves their new creation :P

somebody is testing their new creation to make sure it works
but yeah, it makes reviewing so much quicker

It's weird that the letters on my keyboard are uppercase but I actually have to press a different button to get them to appear uppercase on the screen. I've never really thought about that before. Maybe I've got too much time on my hands today...

3:34 PM
the letters on your keyboard are uppercase for clarity, but actually writing in all-caps is shouting and unnecessary ;-)
also...testing this userscript takes some patience, especially if you don't want to send fake feedback, even if you fix it later

@EriktheOutgolfer Although, apparently a lot of motorway signs are written in lowercase because apparently lowercase letters easier to read at a glance.
in the UK at least

[ SmokeDetector | MS ] Offensive answer detected, potentially bad keyword in answer, toxic answer detected (163): What is the difference between "expose" and "publish" in Docker? by Pascal.S on stackoverflow.com

@Henders well, we usually learn the uppercase alphabet seconds before or at the same time as the lowercase one, and an uppercase letter is obviously more representative of itself ;-)

tpu- by Erik the Outgolfer

> The decision was taken to use lower-case words with initial capitals instead of the all-capital practice that was most common up to that time. The idea was that this created more distinct word spaces, which could therefore be read more quickly and from a greater distance.
^ There's some useless knowledge for you :P

3:43 PM
yeah, the lowercase letters thing might be because of the hills and valleys lowercase letters have, contrary to uppercase ones
for example, the words SPEED and STOP might be confusing from a distance, but you can definitely tell between speed and stop

you mean as in STOP SPEEDING?

speed: -_--^, stop: -^-_

It looks like GitHub is working now, but the deploy and master branches are on different commits. It doesn't look like MS is going to automatically fix that. So, someone with write access to the SD GitHub repo will need to set the deploy branch to the same commit as master. It also looks like Circle CI and travis aren't working on the repo at the moment.

What do I need to do to get the git credentials to work?
I've put them into the config (as described in the setup)

I think github is still not fully back yet so no point testing it now I guess

@Henders you need the git creds and an SSH key
The creds are only used for creating pull requests, you need an SSH key for actual git operations

@ArtOfCode I thought I didn't do that last time.
I've got the credentials in the smokey config

teeechnically it should work with username/password, but it's not stable

Ohkayyyy, so if I generate an SSH key and put it into github it will work?

8:41 PM
git config user.name "SmokeDetector"
git config user.email "smokey@erwaysoftware.com"

Yep, I did that bit

Merged SmokeDetector #2483.

you'll also need to do those two things, and to make the SSH key you generate the git default SSH key

(easiest (only?) way to do that is put it at ~/.ssh/id_rsa)

@ArtOfCode Okay, I've done that

should work
probably maybe
sprinkle some fairy dust on it just in case

But I need to add the public key to github though right?
I've just generated the key

yes, if you haven't done that yet
Name it the same as your Smokey instance so we know whose it is

Can I do that or does someone else need to do that?

8:46 PM
@ArtOfCode Can change location with .ssh/config

@Henders you can do that, just log into GH as Smokey and add it

Ohhh okay, thanks

I can also do it, if you like - I'm already logged in

@ArtOfCode That would be ace, shall I just paste the public key here

aye

@ArtOfCode Although this is super subjective -- I really don't see SE implementing anything like it. CE5000 also wasn't meant to make any concrete changes, just to figure out how large the problem is.

Aye, but the thought was that if we can get data, we can give it to regex wizards - we know SE can exclude based on regexes already, so if we can come up with a regex, that's basically a ready-made patch

9:32 PM
You might want to poke a CM to say "is there any chance at all that this would get implemented if we did it?"
Or add it as an answer to the meta.se post about it.
