@Yvette we've got a section on community outreach at the bottom of the Privileges wiki page - worth remembering.

@Andy zephyr sounds expensive

@ThomasWard ?

@Andy and I mean runtime execution with Smokey creds and all. Not just the tests.

@Mokubai apologies on behalf of everyone involved if the tone irked you - it's never the intention :)

@quartata I wasn't talking your direction, I was replying to an earlier ping?

@ArtOfCode I honestly don't mind that much, and I know it's not personal.
It was just something that was two years old, a normal spam flag would've probably done

@QPaysTaxes if you think someone has done something wrong, by all means have a polite discussion with them, but being accusatory and sarcastic doesn't often come out well.
@Mokubai yeah, no worries. That post was not handled particularly well by us.

@Andy It's been solved for some time, actually, see windows_git_warnings branch. Note though that I still don't have a "Correctly Run SmokeDetector Without Git Functions In Pure Windows And Python" solution, which is why I was still tempted to 'kill' the OS.
@Andy CI tests and such may still work, but I highly doubt the non-tests will run smoothly
I'mma have to spin up a Windows somewhere to do more testing. Probably a clean windows at that too.
@ArtOfCode guess what I learned today btw

@ThomasWard I'll look later at your changes, but I don't know what to tell you about why ChatExchange doesn't work for you. Zephyr works just fine from a Windows environment. It has operated across personal and server versions of the OS for years.
I'm on my final leg home, so I should be able to look later tonight at the changes you mentioned above.

@Andy possible thing you could check.... does Zephyr run the latest version of CE or an older one? Smokey uses a version about 3 months old
Also, I'm stupid
Did you see that big starred message about the new filter?
I wrote the method for it, but forgot to add a rule to the rules list :/
I'm not going to have access to a computer until I get home this afternoon, so if anyone could fix that up for me that would be great

Doesn't CI/the compiler issue at least a warning about certain methods being declared but not being used?

@Glorfindel meh, that is so old-skool, welcome in the new dynamic world ...

It may be old-skool, but it's Good™. Even if you call methods dynamically, you can still mark them/suppress the warnings.
At least in decent programming languages like Java and C# :P

@angussidney Zephyr runs the latest and last time I fired up smokey code under zephyrs account (last week when I put in the git issue) it also ran the latest.
My request for windows support has had huge scope creep. The only thing I had a problem with is the sh module which explicitly says it doesn't support windows. That's fine. I just want a way to run the unittests without commenting out an import

@Undo I think it's maybe a set of oddness then with CE and Smokey

surprisingly few, or surprisingly many?

Surprisingly many.
What I'm most concerned about is that there are some FP'd posts like that.
I'm fine with a couple TPs needing to be clamped
but FPs means really important context could be lost
It's only on the order of ~30 as far as I can tell but
I think I might just drop posts that are that long

@Undo core thing is that for Windows the test suites work now
I'm more concerned about that, since I don't know anyone trying to run a full Smokey on windows heh
@Undo so, @Andy's Zephyr is using a version of CE from 2014
we're using a commit from 2016
that may be the source of the evil between Zephyr and what we have here
I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case either

Yep, good enough for now

10:10 PM
@quartata a ChatExchange "cannot get usr cookie" error that NOBODY knows how to fix

That's most likely because Zephyr logs in through Meta SE but Smokey doesn't
Zephyr is the one that runs in the Low Quality HQ right

even fails for chat.se

Although... if this is a good way to repro that error, that'd be nice

@Undo true, though it seems to be 'random' and 'environment related'
