@ArtOfCode can I get a review on github.com/Charcoal-SE/SmokeDetector/pull/1381 when you have a chance

@quartata remind me what the issue with having one thread per room was?

o/

@ArtOfCode replied. this also gives us thread safety up to when the reply is added to the send queue

1:07 AM
@quartata ELI12?
what's the potential thread safety flaw?

if one thread is interrupted by another room's thread. I don't think there's anything in chatcommunicate itself that would have a problem with that but it's anyone's guess when it comes to the actual commands

Okay, marginal gain again but thread safety is generally not something you want to mess with too hard so that's a good enough argument for me. Still need to sort the Windows support, though.

Would need to ask @Andy
The sockets themselves should work but there's also a pipe it listens to in order to refresh the room socket list

@quartata there's literally no support for poll at all on Windows, it's not just partial support
select.poll literally doesn't exist

Well that doesn't seem right. I know there's a Win32 equivalent
Maybe that was for select

1:17 AM
[ SmokeDetector | MS ] Email in answer: Can someone explain nLockTime? by luca on bitcoin.SE

@quartata select.select exists

@ArtOfCode I'll look into it, putting it aside for now
I would rather not use select because it's kinda slow compared to poll
maybe could swizzle it like what we do for git but ehhhhhhh

@quartata I confess I haven't looked at the situation at all, but is there not some way of being able to access all the sockets centrally and get pushed updates?

Nope. Separate socket per room.

Sure, but can't you stick 'em all in a centralised array?

1:20 AM
assuming you mean an se chat thing

shrug

@ArtOfCode this is how poll and select work

whatever it is you're polling, is there a way to not poll it but get pushed updates from all the things in one place

they block on all sockets passed in
poll is a misleading name, the "polling" is done by the OS

shrug

1:22 AM
the process unblocks when at least one socket is available to read from

Can I make the MS autoflagging more aggressive?

2:18 PM
@iBug yes, by setting your thresholds lower.

In most cases I still manually flag posts.

@JakeSymons ok this is weird.. it says manual metasmoke.erwaysoftware.com/flagging/logs?filter=manual

We all do :)

maybe you did flag it

Even if it meets my settings.
@SurajRao No. I see I didn't flag when I open the flag dialog.
I think I can build another program that monitor Smokey's report and flag automatically.

2:19 PM
@iBug I was refering to JakeSymons

The logic would be very simple.

@SurajRao I've got auto flagging on the first setting you get.

This is the Nth time I've seen a chat group run into misunderstandings when two or more topics are discussed in parallel :)

@iBug the downside to that is (if more people do it, or we crank autoflagging up to 5 flags) that posts get nuked without human intervention
I'm not sure we want to do that.

2:21 PM
@JakeSymons According to my own experiences, a post meeting the criteria doesn't always make MS autoflag it.
@Glorfindel Or better yet, autoflag on report.
Flag as whoever reports as tp.

@JakeSymons the particular post you showed has manual flag.. check my link

@iBug that's a better idea, but if I'm using FDSC (which is most of the time) I have already flagged so an autoflag doesn't work.

@Glorfindel What's FDSC?

@Mithrandir change what?
