@DavidPostill Either they're confused, or they're hoping someone doesn't know their MacBook models and jumps on the deal and it's actually an 09 machine or something. Or they want to take all your money and kill you.
Anyway @Seth if you're in the market for a MacBook, be wary of anything >2013 for anything less than about 800. The things hold their value like crazy.
Nice! I am probably going to get a slightly more rugged case than that though. I treat my phones well but when I'm out sailing or biking I'd like a little more peace of mind.
@undo Very likely.
@undo Did you end up keeping your fi service or is it a wifi "tablet" now?
Looking at that post again, all the specs are for a 2012 machine. So I'll say they're just using the date they bought it instead of the actual model year.
@Seth Keeping it for now, darn useful in a few situations.
And it's not like I have any other recurring expenses, so I don't have an issue with the $24/mo
@undo Totally. btw, depending on what your usage and budget looks like you could get service for ~$7 on Tracfone (what I do, since I hardly call and use data).
you can be pretty sure if I'm using Windows it's because I can't help it.
@undo Not exactly. There are pretty good OSS alternatives and some versions of office will run just fine in WINE (what I'm about to try). But otherwise no.
@ArtOfCode I need Office and VMWare workstation for school. I was using Libreoffice but some weird formatting I had to deal with kept causing me issues and VMWare kept crashing.
@undo You don't have to use the smartphone plans, if you don't want. Any normal TF card will work. For e.g. a 60 minute card will give you 180 minutes, 180 SMS, 180MB of data, and 90 days of service.
