@Yvette My point is that how would a piece of software do it? That sort of language processing is hard for a machine.

@PeterJ searching on the words
and once a certain number of those words is in the same sentence or two words combined gone
example: anything with child and sex+other key words
on parenting it's normal to ask question about sexuality, but join a bunch of words together and it's alarm bells

@Yvette To be honest it's such an edge case I'm not sure on, if someone couldn't post a particular case they'd just end up posting intercourse instead or se-x or whatever. It's like all the spam, I don't think there's a good technical solution.

@ArtOfCode I don't think it would be that hard to prevent from happening again, in such graphic detail. yes with cloaked references

A friend of mine got abused by her father. They brought in agressive lawyers at the trial and she backed down on the report due to social stress. Then she killed herself, at age 17

6:06 PM
The deep web SE was created today, and is now in private beta

gonna be minimal extra volume
Even with the private beta rush
also, what the heck is that site for?

@Ferrybig Once they reach public beta. Private beta content is not served by the websocket that Smokey watches.

@Undo For information about the deep web, I committed a long time ago, still figuring out good questions to ask

@Undo If you look at the console messages Smokey throws out, you might be able to see which requests generate backoff (I suppose the SO requests)

@sandwich Arts & Crafts just reached public beta.

6:11 PM
Yes, that's the new site being watched now.

@sandwich sounds like I'd have to figure out how to scroll in screen, which makes me angry every time I try it

Or you can leave it running until a new backoff appears.

@PhMgBr @sandwich my flag was marked helpful, but I see your point - not everybody might see jibberish as rude/abusive.

8:47 PM
It's site-dependent and mod-dependent. Some mods on some sites explicitly told me not to use abusive on those.

It's a long-running debate whether gibberish should be flagged as offensive.
I think most mods say yes, it should.

Huh - fair enough. I'm only really familiar with moderation on SO - don't really venture out much beyond that other than to flag. While a flag ban on a site I don't actively use won't lose me any sleep, I don't want to add extra work for mods on those sites.

Its even moderator specific, some moderators think yes, some say no, It depends if you see the rude flag as abusive, what it says on our side

It's an odd debate, given that the official SE position is yes, gibberish is abusive.
