@SmokeDetector vandalism

Conflicting feedback on How can solve method readFile.

we need an FDSC extension for "vandalism" IMO
so we can mark it as "positive" for vandalism, but not have to issue a false positive

or you could type six characters in chat ;)

@ThomasWard short form for sd vandalism is sd tp-
Thats even shorter to type

9:23 PM
(I know)

@undo Metasmoke seems to be down

(I know)

:)

@Magisch yeah except hitting the reply button then typing 'vandalism' doesn't autocorrect anything on the mobile chat

9:25 PM
It's back up now; were you updating it or something?

whereas tp- becomes any of fifty profanities :/

@NobodyNada No, it doesn't really go down during updates. Was working on some other stuff

alright :)

@Undo
Someone over in the tavern is saying a moderator was "encouraging harassment" against them. So far info is sparse but maybe you can investigate
and prevent them from opening yet another meta that'll get to -50 in a day

meh, these are pretty much never worth investigating. Let them post something on meta.

9:28 PM
@Undo I don't mean investigate as to see if there's something to it

Most certainly not

Rather finding out what exactly they misunderstood and preventing them from embarassing themselfes on meta

9:28 PM
sd 2k
@Magisch he's beyond a single moderator (you're part of the problem!) telling him anything

:(

Meta is a well-oiled machine for putting people in their place.

I guess even meta needs a stream of opportunities for people to get reversal badges, eh

@Undo Never more true.
@Undo this happened recently over on another site heh

Happens almost weekly on SO

9:31 PM
If anyone wants to help stress test a thing, open primaries.erwaysoftware.com and leave it for a while

@Undo connects 25 VMs to it simultaneously

@ThomasWard Actually, I wouldn't mind that :P
I suppose I could open a bunch of tabs

... well i would...
... if my VPN didn't just die on me

I opened about 10 tabs; let me know if you would like more or less

Doesn't seem to be slowing it down much

9:34 PM
@Undo opened 25 tabs here
and going to spawn load 50 tabs on my VM shortly

lol, great :P

... assuming SSH doesn't die
grrrr

I'll write an AppleScript to launch like 50 tabs

@Undo +10 tabs from me

Watching the logs on this is hilarious

9:36 PM
@Undo is curious

There's no way it could have handled this amount of traffic with polling, so I suppose it's working

@Undo What is it?

alright, here comes 100 tabs

@ThomasWard Mostly I've just never had anything with this kind of concurrency before

@Undo just opened another 20

9:37 PM
@Undo You said you wanted it so I'm technically not DOSing :p

It's taking 0.1s to send out all the websocket things, which isn't half bad

would you like any more?

Nah, this is enough
Thank you!

loads five hundred anyways

I have a linux center in a data center with 64 gb ram
Maybe I should give it a go :p

9:39 PM
@Undo No problem! App Nap or something might kick in and suspend all of the tabs, but I don't think anything like that will happen. Let me know if it does/you need more tabs/you need less tabs

If I need less, I'll just kill it ;)
hah, it's had to spawn a thread for every one of these.
And it's still going fine on a t2.nano
So this should test both the getting-data-from-SE part (in the "please don't ban me" sense) and the getting-data-to-clients part.

@Undo at least it doesn't have to spawn a copy of itself every time

@ThomasWard Yeah, that'd break stuff

and probably blow up the server

I wonder if I can deploy to it without breaking all the WS conns
Should be able to, worst case they'll reconnect

9:43 PM
@Undo no. worst case is it causes catastrophic evils.
because it could

Yep, sure can. Worked fine

10:02 PM
@Undo are you just randomising the last two columns?
at the moment, anyway
So from Brad Larson, we go to:
> ArtOfCode 2016! You've got my vote. – zero01alpha 58 mins ago
...who I'm not sure I've ever interacted with

@ArtOfCode yeah, he is:
in SO Close Vote Reviewers on Stack Overflow Chat, 4 hours ago, by Undo
(it's just making up fake numbers right now)

@ArtOfCode Randomizing the delta between any two polls, so the cumulative column also tends to be random

ah, that makes sense

10:18 PM
^^^ FDSC not feeding back to MS again :/

It is. The websocket just isn't working, so...

uh oh...

huh, so that works

What triggers the "something is wrong?"

my backup script

did it detect Smokey crashed so it started it in reverted mode?

but the regular copy crashed, so the script brought a backup online automatically

Uh, what's going on? It looks like two instances of the bot are running...

...interesting.

@bwDraco yeah

11:43 PM
that would be because they are
metasmoke status reports red for some reason

!!/help

@bwDraco I'm SmokeDetector, a bot that detects spam and offensive posts on the network and posts alerts to chat. A command list is available here.

I've killed the backup copy

Okay. Things look normal now.

Do you know what happened? Did it temporarily lose connection to Metasmoke so your script started a backup?

11:53 PM
For that to happen, metasmoke would have had to report status red

SD is running on AWS, right? Maybe the server lost connection for a few minutes?

I doubt it... this is Amazon datacenters we're talking about here

true

hell-o/

Yep. This is what the console showed:
> Status RED: launching backup Smokey!

11:57 PM
status.aws.amazon.com doesn't report anything

can i use !!/notify here?

yep

yay

hang on

@ArtOfCode what happened?
