[ SmokeDetector ] Blacklisted website in body: Show route between multiple points on Google Maps by xorgx3 on stackoverflow.com

@Undo Fetching the current state of the post prior to hypothetical flagging is advisable anyway.

@Undo I'd do it on whichever end will be casting the flags

6:15 PM
@hichris123 gone

What was it?

I saw "11 seconds" as the timestamp. Was NAA

ah.

@Normal Right, but we don't have to fetch it on every post coming in

Sure, on a post that's in the flag queue.
I imagine a queue: post comes in, is detected, put for a few minutes to cool off, then is fetched again, and final decision is made.

6:20 PM
It'll end up being something like that.
Probably on a cron job, which would mean that queue would be variable (some things might sit in it for 2 minutes, some 4, some 3)
But we'd still be able to set an absolute max on how long it can sit

Restart: API quota is 9358.

A thought about RFC: how many users do you expect to participate? How many are needed?

Sound off, if you're in.
Me.

raises hand

Well, that may be enough already, if you have accounts across the network and autoflags are limited to 2 per post.

6:31 PM
I believe I have accounts on all 151 sites.

@Normal Well, if we're limiting to x auto flags, we really only need up to x.
Beyond that, we're just rotating through

And, for the dry run, we need 0 users.

@ArtOfCode If we're going to do a dry run, we might as well do it all-out. So it'd be nice to have a few people signed up to test emails, the dashboard, filter selection, etc.

True that

@SmokeDetector slow

sd k
@Normal I think hichris is running his with the API queues set to 1 or something

And/or with the 60-second delay greatly reduced.

Which only goes to show that reducing the API queues could potentially reduce SD response time by almost a minute.

@Undo Just the 60-second delay set to 2. But I think 5 is better.

@SmokeDetector ... I guess that's an fp?

Yeah. And could probably be avoided with a creation time check. I don't think that a truly offensive post would live for several months anywhere.

@Normal You mean a last edit time check? Old posts get vandalized...

Maybe a last activity check, anyway?

Yes, last activity is better,

7:36 PM
@Undo Won't (question) activity always be very recent? It's how Smokey gets the post in the first place.

We can get the activity on the answer itself, it's a matter of just changing the filter.

^ that

[ SmokeDetector ] All-caps title: HOW CAN I ADD A SUMPRODUCT FUNCTION? by Elon Daly on superuser.com

@SmokeDetector Yay. So... should we reroute everything through bodyfetcher now, without using handle_spam_json ?
Well, that's not correctly stated.
I meant, if handle_spam_json determines it's spam, add to the API queue and call make_api_call_for_site

... what's that for?

Oh, I see what you're saying.
@Normal !!/report I think
@Normal I suppose we could but we'd need a better queuing system.

8:37 PM
@hichris123 What if add_to_queue had an extra parameter check_now, and check_queue had an optional parameter check_this_site? The flow would be unchanged otherwise.

Hmm...
I'm going to ruminate on this for a bit.

8:51 PM
On one hand, that sounds like a wonderful idea.
On the other, why not just fetch the details after Smokey reports the post?
But then you don't get the benefit of rep + score checks...

9:34 PM
Can the restart message say what the error was, by using excepthook?
So we know without digging into the log.

Well, theoretically... but it's not that simple.
Since we do a full restart.
i.e. we kill the process.
So we'd have to parse the error logs.

@hichris123 I thought it was just changing the conditions on github.com/Charcoal-SE/SmokeDetector/blob/…
Which currently reports only specific errors.

@Normal Those errors are for the auto-reverter (if it's one of those errors, we don't consider auto-reverting). And we could with github.com/Charcoal-SE/SmokeDetector/blob/…, but if the problem is with chat (and recently, the majority of errors have been)... then it doesn't work.

@hichris123 Okay, I see. By the way, why are the != joined by "and" there? I don't follow the logic.
Oh, I guess I do follow the logic.
By the way, in my console I see this:

I dunno. I get that folks like building stuff, but a similar effect could be attained by 2-3 people writing and hosting their own algorithm (which need not be the same). Would be a lot simpler than a big web app with subscriptions, parameters, notifications, unsubscriptions, liability disclaimers, etc.

This post is a pretty good example of what can be avoided with universal bodyfetching.
