@Undo ooh fancy. Yes please :)

:)
Done pending Capistrano deploy, which is being stubbornly slow
Let me know if cross-origin security gives you issues, I think I've turned it off for SE sites but CORS is weird.

6:20 PM
Awesome. Are the ids meant to be null?

@ArtOfCode Artifact of (mostly) me being lazy

Cool. It's not a problem - I don't need an ID :)

That's a really heavily optimized SQL query, only selecting what I actually need. Models want IDs, and then when they don't have an ID they make weird JSON like that
@ArtOfCode It'd be useless to you anyway, those IDs are internal metasmoke things.

that makes it even less of a problem
@Undo CORS trip on Meta.

@ArtOfCode Which meta?

6:28 PM
MSE

Really? Weird. Just a sec.
@ArtOfCode Does it work anywhere else?

I doubt it...

Try SO
It's explicitly in the whitelist, mSE would be under a regex

also trips on HR

HR's in a regex too

6:30 PM
ack, bollocks. SO works, but I get a mixed content error because SO was on HTTPS. Can metasmoke do HTTPS?

@ArtOfCode Yes

Awesome
I'll just make that protocol-relative, then.

So that means there's something weird in the regexes.
/^http:\/\/.*.stackexchange.com$/
See anything there?

OK, forget I said SO works. It doesn't.

>.>

6:32 PM
@Undo /^https?:\/\/.+\.stackexchange\.com$/
is what you want
Yeah, that one. Only took me a few edits. You'd missed escaping the . chars in the domain.
If you want to match stackexchange.com as well, you can have
/^https?:\/\/.*\.?stackexchange\.com$/

@ArtOfCode Oh, duh.
Wouldn't they still match, though?
. should match .
bah, I'm just going to open it up for now
@ArtOfCode Try now

@Undo shrug
Works great :)

@ArtOfCode Can you try again so I can get a log for it?
On meta

done

Eh, it never even got to the server

That took me a grand total of two keystrokes to repeat :)

Browser caching, mayhaps?
Although that's weird that it'd work on SO

Shouldn't be caching, jQuery appends the &_=1482692482 query string so that the browser can't cache it.
Did that one get you a log?
Can you roll your own? Essentially:

6:50 PM
@ArtOfCode Nope

if "stackexchange" in request_source:
    set_header("Access-Control-Allow-Origin: " + request_source)

@ArtOfCode It's slightly more complicated than that.
I think
@ArtOfCode But it does work on SO?
http or https?

@Undo Works fine when I write APIs for things :)
In PHP, admittedly.
@Undo https confirm
@Undo http fail

Ah. @ArtOfCode try using https all the time
IIRC Apache is automatically upgrading requests, that might be screwing stuff up

@Undo works
RoR, running on an Apache server?
That's not one I've heard of before

6:55 PM
@ArtOfCode Even better: RoR, running on Puma, proxied through Apache

...my head hurts

It's ugly, but relatively fast

Heh. I set Python up to run on my local Apache the other day. There is an Apache module you can use, but it didn't work for me, so instead I rewrite all requests to .py files to a PHP script that calls the system python command with the filename, captures the output, and writes it back.
Great fun.

hah

7:05 PM
@Undo if you want to save bandwidth, you can give me the site API name instead of the full icon path - there are classes in the CSS that I can use to get favicons from the name.
Namely, class="favicon favicon-sitename".

@ArtOfCode Don't think I have that data atm.
But I can probably get it
Does it looks like it's just the API names?
Also, bandwidth is cheap

Grrr. Python is annoying. Why is this pull request failing with "line break before binary operator"?

@TimStone Thanks, and so it is. But how have the other commits been passing the CI tests since then? I'm afraid I'm still a Python Noob.

What did I break this time? :P
@TimStone However, I cannot pull if those tests don't pass...

7:55 PM
git blame says you're responsible for the line that's causing the failure
@BrockAdams Good question!

Weird. All tests up to Brock's PR passed fine.

@ProgramFOX I think it was about lacking backslash at the end of multiline if.
I think something was updated on CI's side and caused it to be reported?

Who knows. I'll trigger a re-build to see whether it happens now.

Also, CI is funky today as they acknowledge themselves.

Eek, now there are test failures.
