And ChrisF.

Brian is @0A0D
Thank you!
I want to be able to pin the post queue to the sidebar so everyone knows what's going on.
@ChrisF took care of me! Thanks @AarthiDevanathan

Q: Add Blog Highlights to StackExchange Newsletters

0A0DAs a new blogger on DIY.StackExchange.COM, it has become apparent that the blog reader base isn't as prevalent as on maybe some of the other sites. It would be very beneficial to some of the smaller sites (and maybe the bigger sites) to add a "This week in the blogosphere..." section to the week...

not a bad idea, really.
14:34
I've stolen the idea from awhile ago and promoted it to meta:

Q: Looking for a lifehacker type blog article

Steve JacksonA challenge for the masses: To promote the site and the blog, I'd like to solicit ideas for a blog article that would appeal to both our audience (DIY.stackexchange) and a site with an established base that is known for linking to other content (like lifehacker.com - here's their diy tag). Just...

If it works out - sure! Meta is kinda dead though. I thought Tester's blog idea was fun, but I don't want to suggest 20 things.
This is the chat entry I was thinking of:
Aug 25 at 20:10, by Steve Jackson
I could see sponsoring something, writing a guest article on how to use diy stackexchange, or maybe just pointing one of their editors to a few best-of questions. If we got the blog going we could send them how-to articles a bit more naturally - they seem to feature instructables pretty often.
cool cool. and yes, that sounds A+

BACK. Lunch was awesome. THE COFFEE WAS BETTER.
I was utterly exhausted Saturday evening - then I realized I stopped drinking coffee at noon. How do normal people do it?
@SteveJackson I don't drink much coffee so IT AFFECTS ME A LOT. :D :D
@AarthiDevanathanΨ bounce, bounce, bounce

Big jobs done badly don't have easy fixes
man some of those badges just won't be achievable in any reasonable span w/ our volume
18:35
@TheEvilGreebo nope.
both my sites need more visitors first of all.
/me will make an effort to share links to good questions going forward
which is hard, 'cause I can't like force people here.
awww
@AarthiDevanathanΨ You say can't. I say won't. You just need to commit to those tough choices!
;)
ahahaha.
idk, I feel like many would disapprove of such tactics
Did that stop Stalin? Mussolini? Genghis Khan? Obama???
Bush??? ;)
(didn't want to get political)
18:37
pfft. you forgot Mata Hari
Did Son of Sam stop to worry about what people might think???
(What did he do anyway?)
Was Hannibal Lechter concerned with public opinion?
When the railroad barons caught flak, what did they do? They took the whiny babies who were complaining and converted them into railroad ties! Come on, @AarthiDevanathan, GROW A PAIR!!!
Muhahahaha
18:41
:O :O /me backs away slowly
See? SEE? THATS just the lack of stomach I'm talking about!
@TheEvilGreebo ;___;
@AarthiDevanathanΨ I have no idea what that means
@TheEvilGreebo :'(
No need to cry about it!
18:45
@TheEvilGreebo /me sobs in a corner
Mao Zedong would not go sobbing in a corner!!!
i need food
@TheEvilGreebo go retrieve sustenance!
19:05
I'm not sure if this conversation I missed was better or worse than what I was doing.
Everything is better with butter.
/me adds butter
this chat engine is very nice but it lacks the ability to "emote"
19:24
@TheEvilGreebo this is truth.
@SteveJackson tough call. me, i'm distracted with my job. :O I know, crazy.
19:35
Kinda wish we had more spammers and bad questions... I want the Deputy badge :)
@AarthiDevanathanΨ I thought chat was your job ;)
@SteveJackson SRSLY - I wanna get paid to sit in chat all day!
@SteveJackson lol it's part of my job. this week is me focusing a bit more on writers, and letting DIY continue to be awesome on its own.
hell I could get paid for that AND keep my current job... oooh, double win!
@TheEvilGreebo Yet another reason to get more traffic....
19:38
@SteveJackson Ya lemme get on FB... "Hey everyone, go HERE and post a bunch of total crap questions and answers, would you please???"
@TheEvilGreebo Well I'm sure you hang out with a higher grade of evil, but y'know there's sure to be some riff raff along eventually.
@SteveJackson Yes, one cannot help but get the occasional imp and rapscallion in with the barons and overlords.
What ever is to be done
@AarthiDevanathanΨ Ahh the dreaded third site :) What sort of questions are on writers? Do they do like reviews or is it more like "How do I get published?"
@SteveJackson it's more about becoming a professional published author, yeah. but it's also tips like managing multiple plot threads, writing from different POVs, etc.
NaNoWriMo is coming up; I'm helping out a site temporarily.
Oh yeah. I always thought that was a great idea.
19:46
@SteveJackson it's pretty cool and an event I enjoy sitting on the sidelines playing cheerleader for. I got assigned this site temporarily so...yeah. We'll see what happens.
It's just for November, but it's almost mid-october. gotta get that pedal to the metal.
I'm off - manyana
Adios, sir
/waves
looks like it's just you and me, @Steve
@AarthiDevanathanΨ Fraid so. Maybe we can crank the radio now.
