Here’s another arrow spell

Any resurrection spell - an arrow hits the heart and starts doing cpr

Mage Armor - the arrow hits, and expands into a shell of protective arrowheads

I really want to make some homebrew based on this now, can I steal these ideas?

@BardicWizard For 5e it's easy, just make a ranged weapon that can be used as a focus for spells, as long as the spell targets another creature or (originates at) a point in space

That’s true. I was thinking a base class that works similarly to the ranger or another 1/2 caster with ranged weapon proficiency but that’s harder

Awaken - the target gets dope-slapped by the arrow and smartens up.

Same thing. Fire an arrow at a point in space, wall pops out.

So, totally unrelated thing I just found out: Dungeons and Dragons Online currently has all quest content free to all players, and is offering a code that makes all of it available forever if you put it in before 8/31.

I am on Wikipedia (which may or may not count as social media), SE, D&D beyond, and nothing that counts as contemporary social media for other people my age.

I'd be on a lot fewer messaging services if I didn't have so many hugspace friends all over the world.

Most of my friends are on every social network newer than facebook and they always give me that Look when I say the best way to reach me is texting. One of my friends literally wrote me a page-and-a-half long list of social networks she’s on. And she doesn’t write large.

@AncientSwordRage I didn't know anybody on ICQ or I would've.

For all the social media I'm in I only closely check twitter and Facebook (that one is 1/day) and I auve it set to minimal / no notification

@BardicWizard Yeah, that can be overwhelming! Right now I'm mostly on Twitter and Discord because that's where I've found the TRPG and Indigenous conversations.

@BESW yeah, it really is, but she’s the social butterfly who knows everyone in our class, most of the people in the year above us, and at least a handful of the kids below us. She’s good at that sort of stuff

My first proper online communities (not extensions of hugspace interactions) were phpBB2 forums for obscure webcomics.

Me, I can’t handle anything. I don’t think Ive logged on to Wikipedia in the last month.

@BardicWizard I place great value in the kind of hugspace community involvement you do; I believe developing and empowering neighbourhood spaces is a major key to improving the self and the world.

I wouldn't be nearly so online as I am if my circumstances during the last ten years hadn't forced me to retreat from a lot of my hugspace community actions.

I just do stuff on SE cause it’s fun and better than sitting alone in this pandemic.

I regularly run into the cap for muted words on Twitter, and I've left twice as many Discord servers as I've joined--sometimes just because their volume was too overwhelming, regardless of content.

@Ash Yep. Same social butterfly friend describes the way she curates stuff as a lot of blacklists and trying to keep stuff from getting out of control

@trogdor The only Discord servers I pay much attention to beyond my own, are two RPGSEA servers for TRPG devs.

All the others are muted.

Some of the people in TRPG dev circles are cautiously moving to mastodon. I'm still trying to figure it out but the LJ-ish elements of it make me h*ckin' nostalgic in ways that aren't all good.

works fine for anything that's linear chat in channels but IRC isn't a great medium for threading and things like that

oh, yeah, the concept of malleable history also isn't something that IRC supports natively

@BESW Wait a minute... I'm checking the math, here. Does that mean you're in a negative number of servers, or that you were born into some servers? Either way, i think there's a fascinating story there =)

@lisardggY The psionic handbook introduced the Battlemind class which used Constitution as its primary stat and Dexterity, Wisdom, or Charisma as its secondary. Also the Warlock was eventually able to make solid Con-primary builds, but that took a long time because it relies on a lot of powers from magazine supplements in order to actually have Con-based attacks at every power level.

In PF-1e there's the Kineticist, which is basically a Con-caster. Not a great class overall though. Damage lags behind actual combat classes, and it doesn't get nearly enough special abilities to catch up to actual casters.

Also, the mechanic they put onto it to mitigate its (not really) absurd tankyness was called "burn" which amounted to cutting your own max HP for the day to fuel your powers, with 1 point of burn being equal to your level in HP. At higher levels they ended up doing more damage to themselves than the enemies did to them.
