9:34 PM
Has anyone else with 5th edition's point buy system found themselves unconsciously allocating points along the exact same lines as the Standard Array lineup?
Because I was hashing out character builds, and all of the last four builds I came up with ended up with point buy allocations that were identical to the Standard Array.

9:52 PM
I do not understand what is so hard about this. What am I missing?
@Ben does anyone in your group have access to the 2d level spell enlarge/reduce?

@KorvinStarmast Well, what are you trying to find?

@Yuuki Your question makes no sense to me. Please rephrase.

@Yuuki I think he means specifically the question in the link in his sentence?
I think rather than looking for something he is asking the question in exasperation

What is the ‘what’ that you don’t think should be hard?

@Xirema No, because it is inefficient.
@Yuuki Read the question I linked to and get back to me.

10:01 PM
What is so hard about coming up with a floor numbering system? What is so hard about reading the site rules and knowing not to ask a polling/listing question?
Those are two different things.
And it’s not immediately obvious which one you mean.

@Yuuki The first one. When I was 16, I was somehow able to organize that (awful) first dungeon I ever created (with three levels) by using a simple key that made sense to me.

It's a bit of a red herring, imo. You shouldn't be using a strict numbering system for dungeon floors because dungeons typically aren't office buildings where the floors follow a specific regimented design.
Unless you're playing a post-apocalyptic campaign, I suppose.

hey there @Glazius

@Yuuki Or a game of Top Secret.

Ben
@KorvinStarmast I have Potions of Growth on hand :)

10:15 PM
@Ben Problem Solved

Ben
Yeah :D

@Ben Let the slaughter commence ...

Ben
spoke to my other GM about it (you know, thought it was cool) and apparently dealing 11d6 isn't so much of a deal at level 20 :|
No idea why, but ok.

@Ben When monsters have 600+ HP,11d6 is just a flesh wound.

11d6
Boo.

Ben
10:25 PM
Yeah, I get that. He wasn't overly fussed in that way though. He immediately turned it down like it was "weak" compared to what an actual level 20 PC could do.

@Xirema Which is not the same as eleventy six ~ 116. :)

11d6 would be pretty impressive on a single hit at level 20, but on a critical hit, it's kind of underwhelming.

Ben
To be honest, this is the first time I've played any character past level 7.
So why is 11d6 sub par?

@Xirema I almost invariably end up with the 3 15s, 3 8s lineup, with some number of 15s reduced to 14s to bring that number of 8s up to 10s.

@Miniman Only time I've ever done that was with a Barbarian for 16 STR DEX and CON, and 9 INT WIS and CHA. Wanted to role play the archetypical dumb warrior stereotype. XD

10:41 PM
@Ben To put it in perspective, at level 20 Rogues are expected to do 11d6 + 5 every turn, no exceptions.
Minimum, that is.

Ben
Ok fair enough.

Yeah, if that were 11d6 per hit, that would be a different story.

Ben
Does the fact that this is a barbarian make any difference? Lol.

Rogues get away with it because they can't deal that damage more than once per turn.

For a level 20 barbarian, I'd be aiming for 3 hits at 2d6 + 21.

Ben
10:44 PM
I think I just missed out on the 3rd attack (17 Barb/3 fighter)

Although many of the ways of getting that third hit would mean 1d4 instead of 2d6. Luckily the 21 isn't affected.

@Miniman Where does the third hit come from? Isn't that only Berserker Barbarian?

Ben
But the damage of a regular attack is 4d6 + 13

Oh, polearms.
Good old polearms.

@Xirema The primary goal for any martial character (IMO) should be finding a way to reliably attack with their bonus action.
There's a few ways to do that, of which Polearm Master is probably the easiest.

Ben
10:46 PM
I do also have the Storm aura (3d6 - half on a dex save)
Or My horns
Which both of those also have a reaction effect as well
So per turn, I reliably deal 8d6+26, plus d6+13/3d6
On top of that, while it's not part of my original character build, I can also cast Thunderwave on a critical hit
(DM's discretion)

11:02 PM
What feats do you have?

Ben
Uhh… Dual Wielder, and Mobile

11:25 PM
Ah, so you were getting your bonus action attack from dual wielding, but your DM gave you a magic two-handed weapon?
Also, why Mobile? As a Barbarian, you can't be scared of opportunity attacks. Did you just want the extra 10 feet of movement?

I'm reading the Dungeon World guide, but I can't find a thing: Which is the maximum level?

> Once you’ve reached 10th level things change a little. When you have enough XP to go to 11th level instead you choose one of these:
- Retire to safety
- Take on an apprentice
- Change entirely to a new class
If you retire you create a new character to play instead and work with the GM to establish your place in the world. If you take on an apprentice you play a new character (the apprentice) alongside your current character, who stops gaining XP. Changing classes means keeping your ability scores, race, HP, and whatever moves you and the GM agree are core to who your character is

Q: Dungeon World Leveling at level 10

RBlackI didn't really understand the leveling portion other than: XPTotal & LevelUp = Level+7 - XP However when you hit level 10 the manual says you must create a new character as an assistant or etc. But can you not just keep leveling? While this will indeed make them stronger you can scale monsters...

Ben
@Miniman Yeah, pretty much

11:41 PM
@BESW Thanks

@EnderLook Just quoting from the srd.

Oh, I haven't seen that wiki

Second result when I googled dungeon world level.

Ben
@Miniman Might talk to my GM about swapping it out for GWM
Or some such

... sorry, I was focusing more in the guide

11:47 PM
It's on page 31 of the Dungeon World manual, but the guide isn't gonna include that sort of endgame detail because it's a guide for starting to play.

hey there @nitsua60

@BESW Ok, I was reading an Spanish version which is a bit different, it doesn't have that. Looking it better, that book has 54 pages while the manual has 395... I think it is missing some features

Yeah. It's a guide for helping to understand the game; it assumes you've read the manual.
> All the advice you need for running the game is right in the core book. What I've done is taken the most commonly-asked questions and put down some answers in plain language, with in-depth examples.

@BESW ahh

@Ben Yeah, you've got 2 feats that are essentially useless to you, and GWM would really help you out.
