@BESW well I felt like we achieved escape, but only three dinos got out and they were all different species
so like,... you could hand wave it but we didn't really get full freedom for those dinos
they aren't going to reproduce for starters
and if they hunt stuff they would need a huge reserve of animals because everything now is too small for a T-Rex

Right, and that was a compromise I made on the fly between the themes of the source material and the reality of the system.

1:29 AM
A long time ago we talked in this chat about a near-future hard-science RPG that focused on cleaning up orbital debris. Apparently there's a manga/anime about that.

1:45 AM
wow

2:33 AM
I've heard of Planetes, but haven't watched it

3:24 AM
Planetes is a really great series about how space is impressive but humans are still humans. It's got a really powerful final chapter.

Planetes is good yeah

The thing about edits making answers obsolete went the other way on stackoverflow: edits that do this usually get rolled back

@BESW Maybe the intent of the RPG author(s?) was to explore the what-if scenario. What if the dinosaurs could actually get something good from this?

I saw a trailer for a movie trying to set up a portal from the Jurrasic as an existential threat to humanity in the late twentieth century. Nope!

@Joshua Was it Talibanosaurus Rex? XD

I think yall may be overthinking this. It's a one-page RPG that a friend found on a random tumblr blog, loosely built around "what if players were dinosaurs". I didn't expect it to be robust or consistent with the Jurassic Park narrative.

Despite the title's formatting

3:17 PM
(shrug) I'm not going to defend it. As doppel pointed out, the system is basically a less coherent version of Honey Heist.

3:37 PM
haha

@MikeQ that was fun GOG, sorry I was unable to keep eyes open. Too bad we weren't able to get an earlier start. How did it end up?

@KorvinStarmast with two dead guards in the village and the mayor on his knees, considering an offer by Tahria to have his life spared in exchange for a one-night stand, that she then spreads rumor of....

@Shalvenay chuckle sorry I missed that part. sounds like the hilarity continued (Brazen Hussy!)

@KorvinStarmast XD it did indeed

We may have needed to rename LukLukill "Mighty Casey" given that whiffed attempt at Halfling Harvesting ... swing and a miss!

4:06 PM
@KorvinStarmast I think Shal's seductress ork won by having the most Oog, but BLARG THE LOUD! succeeded at being the loudest

4:24 PM
@MikeQ As was right and proper. (We showed those musicians, didn't we?)

@KorvinStarmast @MikeQ I wonder what Tahria the Twisted's reward for having the most Oog could be? maybe something Orcishly fancy to wear to her night out with the mayor? ;)

@trogdor I think a headband or tiara would be a perfect fit.

@KorvinStarmast XD I think a tiara would definitely be part of it, but I was thinking of a whole outfit for her ;)
wardrobe raid time ;)

5:04 PM
@vicky_molokh Are you familiar with the American literary genre known as "Pulp Fiction" ... I ask due to how you asked your question.

5:20 PM
That is in fact where the description and the sample author list come from.
To elaborate, I have read works by pulp authors Mark Twain, HPL, a bit of Asimov, a bunch of Ray Bradbury, a bit of Arthur C. Clarke, and am indirectly acquainted with Dick, Christie and Asimov's works. There may be other pulp authors I am familiar with but haven't listed in the question thread - IIRC REH and RAH are considered pulp writers.
@KorvinStarmast

@vicky_molokh That isn't pulp fiction, the genre. Pulp fiction applies to a whole school of "paid by the word" fiction generally published in magazines (Amazing Stories being one of many) and low cost paperback books.
Lots of detective stories, weird tales, speculative fiction, adventure stories, and some noir style tales. I'd say from the 1920's to the 1960s/1970's, though perhaps it extended further.
REH, yes, RAH went well beyond the pulps. It's not the authors, it is the body of stories of a particular style.
IIRC, Fritz Lieber's Fafhrd/Grey Mouser stories first got light in various pulp magazines before he had them published in books.

Hey guys, I'm looking for any adventure from any edition of D&D that has the lair/tomb of a Lich.
I'm looking for inspiration to make one to my campaign so anything helps, I'm just avoiding Tomb of Anihilation because I'm currently playing it.
Thanks in advance!

9:22 PM
@Manner Well, in the same rough story vein as Annihilation, there's The Tomb of Horrors, Return to the Tomb of Horrors, The Tomb of Horrors Superadventure....
[rummages through Wikipedia]
Descent into the Depths of the Earth; Under Illefarn; Throne of Bloodstone.
Technically Sakatha is a vampire in Tomb of the Lizard King, but narratively it's a distinction without a difference.

9:43 PM
hey there @MikeQ

salutations

Hi folks!

10:00 PM
Well if you want it stupid hard there's defeat NPC me.

@BESW Thanks for the indications, I'll give it a look!

@MikeQ how're things going?
@Joshua yeah, I think he's looking for "regular lich" hard not "space lich" hard

10:17 PM
@Shalvenay Multitasking. My grad school project involves ludicrous loading times, so I'm passively brainstorming and researching material for future one-shots.

@MikeQ ah, now a decent time to chat on Discord a bit?

Ben
10:28 PM
Morning all.

hey there @nitsua60

D&D 5e: If your HP is reduced to 0, do you lose Bladesong from the Bladesinger Wizard subclass of SCA?

That sounds like a good main-site question.

Great, when I finish the session I may wrote it!

Ben
[Gasp] Okami is out on Switch

If people had a moment to look at this question. I think it was incorrectly closed as a duplicate. I can't vote to reopen since I already did so one before (when it was rightful closed for being unclear/too broad)
This question is not a duplicate for the very simple reason that it is not about wizard spells at all. It is about Sorcerer spells. Wizards have a very specific mechanic for learning spells that does not apply to other classes. More specifically however, this question is asking to clarify a specific aspect of the multiclassing rules that does not seem to be addressed by the answers. — Rubiksmoose 7 mins ago

Oh, silly of me, I just read the SCA and it says "It ends early if you are incapacitated"... I should have read that before!

Ben
@EnderLook [Puts on my grisly cop voice] This case is open and shut
On the topic of asking questions - I'm not sure if I should ask about my situation in Pathfinder. Basically, in every single fight, my PC (the druid) will either be knocked down to minimal HP, or KO'd. It's becoming a regular occurrence. We have a Barbarian and a Healer (Oracle), and I'm not sure where I should be in combat, or what my role is.

@Ben are you a shapeshifter druid or a caster druid?

My brother is a wizard and always happen the same with him. Even more, he don't get downed, he die (but our DM allow him to survive). Lucky, when he reach level 3, he become stronger, his bladesong matains him alive... usually... often.... sometimes
Oh, while I was writing he got downed by a wolf bite (second time in the day)!

Ben
@Shalvenay Currently I am only level 3 - so for now I'm a caster... but I'm feeling like I wanna go shifter
My stats are 12/14/14/8/16/8 (str-cha)

10:57 PM
@Ben hrm. not too bad. a bit more caster-y than shifter-y I reckon

Ben
@Shalvenay I am a skinwalker (+2 str in shifted from)

@Ben ah

Ben
But that wouldn't apply in beast mode

@Rubiksmoose I've reopened it.

Ben
But yes - currently that is the build I made, though generally that's because of the lack of shifter ability I had at level 2&3

Quick questions? D&D 5e Spell *Spiritual Weapon*:
1) Does the weapon take a tile or any person can occupy that tile? If not, is it difficult terrain?
2) Can it perform opportunity attacks?

@EnderLook Spells do what they say they do. It's not a creature and doesn't say it can make opportunity attacks, nor does it say it occupies its space (it's "spectral").
Spiritual weapon—the spectral weapon created by the spell doesn't occupy its space the way a creature would. #DnD https://twitter.com/Lorindil/status/723447307811885056
A spiritual weapon doesn't pass through walls. It also doesn't occupy its space; it's not a creature, and it's not described as being large enough to fill its space. #DnD https://twitter.com/vikke064/status/958078216270381056

Ohh, thanks

The spell's description would say if the spiritual weapon made opportunity attacks. It intentionally doesn't. #DnD https://twitter.com/Lwnasidh/status/702648013328547841
no problem

11:52 PM
How much HP has a wall? (D&D 5e)

Ben
> The wall is an object made of stone that can be damaged and thus breached. Each panel has AC 15 and 30 Hit Points per inch of thickness. Reducing a panel to 0 Hit Points destroys it and might cause connected panels to collapse at the DM's discretion.
That's taken from "Wall of Stone" spell

ok, thanks

Ben
But This goes over the gerenal rules for object AC and HP etc

It will take a long while....
