4:00 PM
@NautArch Partially because XGE has so much player forward stuff in it I expect.
Don't forget that even XGE distinguished between it and the rest: "The options here build on the official rules contained within the Player’s Handbook, the Monster Manual, and the Dungeon Master’s Guide."

that makes sense. Mixing players and DMs.

I know the DMG contains some hard and fast rules (not optional or variant) but can't think of any offhand.

Chapter 8 is mostly hard and fast with variants to add more.

4:17 PM
@SPavel oh dear. (@Rubiksmoose it sounds like they did.)

Interesting tidbit: putting up a bounty does not let you earn above 200 rep for that day. Unlike downvoting or getting downvoted which allow you to earn those points back even if the total positive points earned would be above 200.

Magic: the Gathering had some major format issues over the past couple of years in which format-breaking combos and cards came out that really should have been spotted in playtesting, but nobody spotted them. It turns out that's because playtesting teams featured nobody who was professional or otherwise highly competitive at tournaments. So they assembled a playtesting team that's staffed entirely by professional tournament players.

@doppelgreener woooooooow....
I don't push out a stupid macro update at work unless I have at least 3 people test it out. (Which, to be fair, takes much less time than RPG playtesting but still...)

e.g. the Kaladesh block of cards featured an infinite combo. Nobody in playtesting noticed this. This is despite an almost identical combo being banned at the very same time Kaladesh would have been getting developed and playtested. Some of the pro players commented they noticed the combo within minutes of the involved cards being previewed, and they were stunned the playtesting team didn't notice it over the course of months.

That is embarrassingly bad...

4:23 PM
It is. It is embarrassing. It was embarrassing. They were embarrassed. One of the major public figures among MTG players said "Hey y'all need to have a playtesting team consisting of actual pros." A couple of months later WOTC created exactly that.

Good on them for listening at least.

@Rubiksmoose Too easy to open a bounty while you have an answer on the rise I suppose?

@SirCinnamon that was the first thing that came to my mind.

The combos in summary are:
- There is a card called Splinter Twin. This lets you tap a creature to make a copy of it. There is also a card called Delver Exarch. Delver Exarch lets you untap a creature. What you do is use Splinter Twin to create a copy of Delver Exarch, and use the new Delver Exarch to untap the creature you tapped. Repeat for infinite Delver Exarchs.
- Splinter Twin was banned.
- Simultaneous to that, they developed a card (Saheeli Rai) that could immediately create one copy of any creature you had. They also developed Felidar Guardian, which would "blink" any card you cont
Also they didn't realise people would use Aetherworks Marvel (which lets you just get any creature for free, within certain constraints, which you could manipulate) to cheat out Emrakul, the Promised End (the biggest, most costly, most powerful creature available at the time) easy peasy super early in the game for free, which is basically an "I win now" trick.

@doppelgreener ...That's literally the SAME combo, not even a similar one

4:29 PM
@SirCinnamon Functionally pretty much the same thing yes.
Generate ten billion cats, pass turn, and the opponent either has a board wipe or is about to take ten billion damage.
(btw, you hold onto a counterspell in case they try to perform a board wipe)

This is why I play hearthstone, they can just retroactively edit cards
You would think that would encourage less thought out design but apparently printing costs didnt give WotC any pause in creating cards like that so... maybe not

@SirCinnamon Or, more likely, call it "an epic moment" and highlight it

@GreySage in purple naturally

@doppelgreener Splinter Twin seems broken enough without infinite combos.

@GreySage Splinter Twin's kinda nutso, yeah.
Meanwhile Flameshadow Conjuring exists and is one of my favorite cards. It is a similar concept and quite powerful, but not busted.

4:37 PM
@doppelgreener Pretty awesome, but the tokens only last for 1 turn and it's limited by available mana

@GreySage yup

4:53 PM
I feel like I am the only person in my generation that did not ever play MtG

@Rubiksmoose don't think we're same generation...but i've never played.

@nitsua60 ooooohhhhhhhs. I get it.

@goodguy5 hahahaha delayed reaction are possibly even funnier on chat.
@NautArch Woo! Rebels.

ugh. I just want to nerd out with my upcoming D&D players, but I also don't want to bother them because I know none of them are into it as much as I am....

5:01 PM
Just realized, every cleric spell requires V,S,M

@NautArch No such thing as silent prayer i guess

@SirCinnamon Silent but deadly

@SirCinnamon just like a prayer... youtube.com/watch?v=79fzeNUqQbQ

@goodguy5 "I hear your voice - feels like flying" Can clerics learn fly?

@SirCinnamon nope
@SirCinnamon guess not. Serious bummer for our cleric who had his tongue cut out.

5:06 PM
@NautArch Vecna's tongue?

@SirCinnamon Storm cleric can fly at 17

@SirCinnamon BBEGs breakfast.

@doppelgreener there was an infinite combo back when I played (mid-90s) that I don't think they ever bothered to fix. We all just sorta agreed not to use it in play.
Ashnod's Altar, an Ornithopter, and some white enchantment that had creatures come to your hand rather than the graveyard when sacrificed?

@goodguy5 oh yeah? bunch of newbies?

@Rubiksmoose 4 newbies and 1 veteran of previous editions

5:12 PM
Mostly they accept infinite combos, depending on the amount of cards they take to perform and what they do. For example, infinite-mana combos happen and are accepted depending on the format and how early in the game you can do them or how reliably you can do them or how easy they are to mess up.

And, I'd asked earlier, but no one seemed to notice. Maybe this is a proper question for SE.

Can I ready an action to melee attack someone who's falling (like, through the air)?
- as movement from falling doesn't provoke opportunity attacks

@goodguy5 I don't see why not

@SirCinnamon because falling happens "instantaneous" (ish). And reactions happen after their triggers

The issue with the Cat Lady combo is you could pull it off on turn 3 or 4. Splinter Twin combo could be pulled off on turn 2 or 3. In both cases you win the next turn. Those are too fast for their respective formats, so it becomes a combo that needs to be stopped. If Cat Lady couldn't be done until turn 8, that would be another matter, because at that point someone ought to win.

@doppelgreener I don't recall the "play face up" but, but maybe that's it. I feel like Ice Age is right about when I left off playing so it's a possibility...?

5:14 PM
@goodguy5 It should not be an issue except with the strictest reading (and with a properly worded trigger)

@goodguy5 Depends on the phrasing of the trigger though - "When they move into range", after the trigger ends they are in range.

@SirCinnamon yup that is the way I would phrase it.

I'm definitely agreed that RAI and RAF and RACS all agree.

Falling is one of the things 5e fails to simulate well

just not sure about RAW

5:15 PM
RACS?

Speaking of which, question to the room, asking for your totally from-the-hip guesses here: what fraction of D&D players have some familiarity with M:tG? (Let's say, "have owned decks"="familiarity" and "buy D&D product(s)"="D&D players.)

@GreySage Read as Common Sense.

@SirCinnamon s/5e/D&D

@nitsua60 In my playgroup, 80%

@nitsua60 we have to agree which D&D players. Casual. Multi edition? Have played more than 10 games? etc

5:16 PM
@goodguy5 I would say there is a very strong case for RAW saying you can because you can because you can cast featherfall as a reaction to falling which means that instantly falling is not truly instantly. There is still time for reactions.

@nitsua60 I (and my group) all bought starter kits right around when we started to try D&D, mtg didnt stick

@Rubiksmoose That's a specific case (and beats general) that happens before the trigger (of "falling").

@goodguy5 edited

@nitsua60 ha. I get that joke
Okay, people that have owned D&D stuff and MtG stuff. got it.

um... I'm guessing about 50%, but I'd be willing to believe as far down as 20%

@nitsua60 Totally from the hip - I'd say 30% of DnD players have tried MtG and vice versa
By your specifications

5:20 PM
@goodguy5 I'm not really sure that it is a case of specific over general. The triggering of reaction spells is almost identical to the triggering of readied actions.

@Rubiksmoose Didn't you just make a post last week about how it wasn't?

@goodguy5 Kind of? I would not summarize it as such.

@goodguy5 Last week it wasn't, this week it is.

@SPavel lol

Such is the fast paced high stakes world of readied actions.

5:22 PM
reactions always come after their triggers unless the effect specifies otherwise.

Right, exactly

personally I'm bearish on the readied actions market, so I'm shorting them

So, in a system where falling time doesn't exist in increments of less than 500 feet.

But it's highly volatile especially with the rise of ActionCoin

@SPavel XD

5:23 PM
@Rubiksmoose @goodguy5 But what that trigger can be is defined as a perceivable event - someone coming near you is that

Pavel, I hope you're half as funny IRL as you are on SE.

it never specifies how fast the reaction can be

@SirCinnamon right the clash here is between that and the fact that falling is described as instant

@goodguy5 I'm actually a lot more funny IRL because I do a fantastic accent, and also because I'm only on stack at work when I have to be sober

@Rubiksmoose yes
@SPavel Perfect. Come to Philly. We'll get beers.

5:25 PM
@Rubiksmoose Frankly that's ridiculous, if falling is instant, how are you supposed to lash your flaming whip around the pesky enemy wizard's foot, dragging him into the bottomless pit alongside you?

@goodguy5 It probably would not be a bad question to ask. It might be close to a dupe from several others though so do your search first.

@SirCinnamon i gave him the same number :)

D&D is supposed to be a LotR simulator, and this rule ruins that.

@goodguy5 you're in philly?

@Rubiksmoose alright. asking.
@NautArch yes

5:26 PM
@goodguy5 Philly sucks and the beers in Philly suck

@goodguy5 city or suburbs?

@goodguy5 Please though. Include a trigger in your question

@SPavel FLY EAGLES FLY

I had enough Yuengling in grad school to last a lifetime

@SPavel THe lager was/is nasty. I did like the black and tan, but really did enjoy their porter.

5:27 PM
@NautArch 2nd suburb north

@goodguy5 "When the falling creature enters my reach" would be my suggestion. Readied action questions get tedious and broad if there is not a specific trigger being asked about.

@Rubiksmoose yep, on it

lord chesterfield was pretty nasty, too - but i don't like that type of beer to begin with.
@goodguy5 bucks co or montgomery?

@goodguy5 you may want to specify <500 feet as well so as to preempt the use of the optional XGE rule.

@NautArch Montco. I'll hold off talking trash on bucks, in case you live there lol
@Rubiksmoose way ahead of you

5:29 PM
@goodguy5 Figured you might be :)

@goodguy5 nope, I lived in Montgomery, too :)
12-18

@NautArch Aw, are you gone now?

went to harriton high school
yeah, when I want to college, my parents moved into the city. I never moved back home, and now my parents live up near me in mass.

@NautArch oh wow. That's about 30 minutes from home (and only like 10 minutes from work). I love conshy

great place to grow up

5:35 PM
I'm FROM Maryland's eastern shore. So, very rural

@Rubiksmoose how many xp for cr whatever is a rule from the DMG ...

@KorvinStarmast good one.

tags for falling question....
5e, falling, reactions....
ooooh. using the raw tag

@goodguy5 that should cover it.
@goodguy5 yeah this might be a case where it is appropriate

and it's up
(that's what she said)
Can I get a tiny hut question in here, as well?
Okay, so followup. Can I cast Leomunds Tiny Hut if I fall for a distance of greater than 500 feet?
:-)

5:41 PM
@Rubiksmoose Other rules in DMG are some of the discrete magic items, how they work, how a scroll works if it is higher level than you can cast ...

@goodguy5 made a suggested edit

thanks moose

(yes they can make the readied action, but the real question is if it will trigger.)
@goodguy5 np :)

much appreciated, though, I don't like grey's edit
sorry grey.
I like using RACS
doesn't come up enough

@goodguy5 It got the title changed to something that makes grammatical sense, so I call it a win.

5:46 PM
@goodguy5 how do you like that titel?
title

@goodguy5 You mean

@SPavel I do, in fact, mean that.

@goodguy5 Please follow the rules of the channel: 1) No starring 2) No swearing 3) 's

wait, did I swear again?

5:49 PM
@goodguy5 No, but it's the only one that's a real rule so I had to include it

oh okay lol
I think I'm one of the worse offenders of the the swearing rule.

@goodguy5 You just need to get more creative with dressing down objects of scorn and derision
For example, this Stephen Fry comment: "It is complete loose stool water. It is arse-gravy of the worst kind."
Much more impactful than "it's s**t"

@SPavel I harken your statement to the leavings of a dysentery-stricken mule.
I like that we went the same direction with that

@goodguy5 Yours is a little more medieval but I can respect that

Is there a polite "minimum" amount of time before accepting an answer? Because I think that cinnamon nailed it

5:52 PM
@goodguy5 I usually wait a day, just in case someone comes in with a viewpoint I didn't account for.

@goodguy5 Usually a few hours, but only to be polite

okay. I'll do it tomorrow then.

@goodguy5 Never accept an answer, it makes you look thirsty

@SPavel hahahaha

I like to review my questions and accept answers on an annual basis.

5:53 PM
@GreySage I"m still shocked that I didn't get accepted answers for my Rope of Climbing and shapechanger answers.
I think there's a tendency not to accept answers that are counter to what someone wanted to read.

@goodguy5 yeah 24 hours is usually what I do. After accepting you are much less likely to get an answer. I've gotten some good and surprising answers even after a day or two by waiting.
@NautArch or at least to wait longer to be absolutely sure nobody is going to say what you want lol

@Rubiksmoose true, but I doubt I'll see an accepted answer.

SE, may the demons of the underworld control your soul. Don't alert me to items that I have already posted, like some sort of sniveling, mendicant peasant.
also, going home for the day. later gents. (snow closure!)

@NautArch Yeah well that happens. I try to go through and check my questions every now and again to make sure I've accepted everything I wanted to (sometimes I forget)

@Rubiksmoose I should check mine :)
and the first unchosen answer is for a Tiny Hut question :)

6:08 PM
@NautArch We all know is the real reason the Stack exists

@NautArch lol

6:22 PM
did some cleanup, have a couple I'm not yet comfortable picking and put up 2 bounties :)

6:45 PM
@NautArch well I answered one of them lol
critiques welcome

@Rubiksmoose how do you handle the other answerer's statement on how far you can move them?

@NautArch I'll add that in.

I really dislike questions that have 1 question in their title, then ask a completely different question in their body.

@GreySage example? (and agreed)

0
Q: Can I use the Dash action every round?

AndrásDo I become exhausted if I move 60 feet every round?

There are 2 clear, discrete questions, 1 in title, 1 in body. They are related, so I don't think asking them together is a problem, but it's not clear if the OP is asking both (since titles are meant to just be click-bait)

6:55 PM
@NautArch updated

@Rubiksmoose you will very likely get 100 rep :D
from me to you

@NautArch woohoo! Let's see if anybody can steal it from me. lol

7:20 PM
@NautArch regarding your other question I tried to pair down that massive block of spell text into something somewhat reasonable. It can probably be trimmed more, but that is your call.

Your title should summarise your question body. The title isn't itself supposed to contain the question. (Some people may do that with it, but at peril of being unclear and creating work for us and for themselves.) It doesn't work for us to ask question A in the title and question B in the body. Instead ask question A+B in the body, be clear about how they relate, and use your title to summarise them both or the core issue. — doppelgreener ♦ 2 mins ago

@doppelgreener Or use your title to make a really bad pun, those are always good

@SPavel how you're supposed to lash your flaming whip around the pesky enemy wizard's foot, nitsua-style. (Possible mild spoilers for my current players.)

@GreySage that also works 👌

@nitsua60 My other guess was going to be "with a Will DC 30 check, you privilege your frame of reference, and the rest of the universe takes fall damage instead of you."

7:31 PM
@SPavel but the universe has to be falling into something. Wouldn't you then take damage from 1 universe falling on you?
(at which point not dying instantly feels like being let off easy)

@doppelgreener No, the universe isn't falling into anything, just falling in respect to you

@nitsua60 regarding the baphomet question, was there some sort of history behind your comment?

And out of that respect, it won't deal damage

@Rubiksmoose what do you mean?

@nitsua60 Cool

7:33 PM
@nitsua60 I originally read it as saying something like "what part of [this thing we discussed previously] was unclear to you?"
now I'm reading it another way

@GreySage My players really liked it. That, combined with the 4' model at the table, made it a pretty memorable encounter =)

or that you had suggested this course of action before.

@Rubiksmoose the "what part of the groundwork you should do yourself" way?
@Rubiksmoose No, it just strikes me as an obvious bar to clear vs. "shows no research effort."

@nitsua60 with the simulation part added it makes your meaning much clearer yeah.
I can't say why I read it like that originally (possibly because it would be weird to require someone to run a battle before they figure out if it is potentially not going to work at all).

Yeah--thanks for pointing me at it again. Definitely wasn't clearly worded in the first instance.

7:37 PM
@nitsua60 No problem at all.

> Hero: "You had Mystletainn [legendary magic sword] this entire time?"
> Mom: "... yes?"
> Hero: "WHERE?"
> Mom: "Under the floorboards in my closet, next to the emergency fund. Where else?"

If I'm going to leave snippy comments--which I shouldn't--I should at least do it well.
That said, I shouldn't. So I'm taking a break. See you all 'round the multiverse!

@nitsua60 ttfn!

> Hero: "Mom, where's Gungnir?"
> Mom: "It's in the backyard, I put some laundry on it to air dry."

Hero's mom is probably a level 100 legendary hero in her own right, if she's got all these legendary artifacts lying around spare.

7:46 PM
@doppelgreener or one heck of a thrift store shopper

@Rubiksmoose many thanks. I think I retyped that section myself rather than copypasta from dndb :)
I'm considering adding the comment I have under my question as an answer.

@NautArch I have something in the works that is very similar. It is going to come down to DM call one way or the other honestly like many illusions.

@Rubiksmoose Yeah, I feel like that's the answer on this. That it's possible because of the difference in how Phantasmal Force works compared to other illusions.

Don't let me stop you from doing it by all means fwiw, but I think mine will be in the same vain if you wanted to save yourself some trouble.

@Rubiksmoose I got your granddad's robes / I'm slinging fire balls

7:57 PM
A friend keeps telling me that I should write a novel by picking up one of my RPG campaigns and imagining players for it. I find that advice to not be sound on a general level.
But nevertheless, today I tried and was quite happy about the result.
Feels nice to do this because now the story won't be wasted when the players don't want to follow the rails ^^

8:12 PM
@Rubiksmoose fyi i've purged that whole chain since "here is my personal but unactionable opinion on this answer" is a removeable category of comment (it's chatty)

@doppelgreener fair enough. I thought it was interesting but I agree that it is not what comments are there for
@doppelgreener oh and thanks for explaining the reasoning :)

8:56 PM
I'm glad my "Readied action on a falling target" answer was well received, answered it an was immediately pulled away from my computer for a meeting

@SirCinnamon You mean, you don't spend your meetings feverishly refreshing Stack on your phone?

@SPavel Too busy trying to stay awake - Meetings in a warm room after lunch

@SirCinnamon A deadly combination

9:20 PM
@SirCinnamon yeah it was very good! I was happy to see someone bypass the ridiculous RAW argument that would have had to take place otherwise

@Rubiksmoose Thanks! I think immediately vs instantly is an important distinction, probably there are other places the book uses the term where that argument may apply

@SirCinnamon quite possibly but it was a good catch.

9:51 PM
evening folks

10:17 PM
hey there @Alphaeus, how're things going?

10:32 PM
Hello Shal, how are you?

doing OK here, as for you?
I did see your message re: the journal posts. it'll take me a little while to get to them

Oy shal
how are you doing
also guys, i might be using tabletop rpg stuff to help me prepare for an important interview I have tomorrow
I do a team interview and I'm trying to make a mockup FAE character sheet for each of my interviewers

@Shalvenay Doing good. Watching players get themselves into needless trouble in one of my campaigns.

heheh, let us know how it goes. I know mock interviewing is a strategy, but that's taking it to the next level

@Skyler This sounds both humorous and useful

10:39 PM
and I'm doing OK @Skyler :)
@Alphaeus heheheh. unfortunately, we got ourselves in over our head in poly-ticks in the campaign we're in :/

@Shalvenay any of those interview strategies easily able to be imparted

@Skyler I haven't had much trouble with interviewing, myself

@Shalvenay OH dear...politics can be quite troublesome in RPGs...quite, quite tangled.

@Shalvenay I just haven't had much interviewing, most of the time I've established a rapport for a couple of months and then gotten an appointment, sidestepping all this stuff
smaller teams though

@Alphaeus I find it particularly awful myself because I am so strongly wonkish & due-process-centric in my approach to politics that it's very hard to get into a "power politics" or "might makes right" mindset for RPGs
which is especially problematic if I go to play a hardline LG char
and to some extent for Lawful-anything

10:47 PM
@Shalvenay Ahahaha...yes, most of my characters don't have that problem. Last political issue any of my chars had he solved by destroying the city.

Arrgh, didn't D&D 2e have "if you specialize in this school you can't use spells from that school in one of the magic user books?"
Memory has completely failed me.

@KorvinStarmast I think so? but I'm not sure

@KorvinStarmast Also, I think so as well, but can't say certainly

I need to get ahold of my source material, but it isn't here. Man, getting old eats it.
What was my name again? 8^o

@Alphaeus :P unfortunately, I generally am not playing games where simply being able to "catbird" away politics is an option (although I do so love it when I can do that ;)

10:50 PM
@Shalvenay All in good time, I am however eagerly awaiting the Rrauj version of our oddball adventure ... you see things through a different lens than I do, as a Tabaxi and as a good hearted cleric, so I love to see the different narration.
*Off to find where maybe the old, mouldy 2e PHB is sitting ...

so guys, I listen to music when I go to bed and set a sleep timer, the song that the computer hibernated in the middle of is called "Now Playing"

@KorvinStarmast yeah -- part of it is that if you couldn't tell, the FF got under both Rrau's collar and mine to some extent -- LE behavior, especially in a context where it's not expected from someone and/or is coming from forces in power, tends to awaken my civic-sense (and matching indignation) rather strongly, which isn't such a bad thing IRL but as you can tell, can be slightly problematic in a campaign context

@Skyler lol

Ben
Morning all

@Ben Evening ben

11:01 PM
in fact: @Alphaeus and anyone else in the channel who's been following -- I wonder if it'd be possible to make "how do I keep totalitarian/authoritarian LE behavior from making me hot under the collar OOCly when it is presented in RP?" into a good mainsite question?

@Shalvenay Hmm, I think that might be possible

hrm...any tips from a workshopping standpoint then?

Just a sec....
cogs grinding softly in the distance

Ben
So... I just need 2 downvotes, and 2 upvotes hehe

because the only thing I can think of is listing out some examples of the behaviors I'm talking about, as well as mentioning that this is about IC behavior from NPCs, not OOC things from the DM

Ben
11:10 PM
Oh hey! I have a 5e tag :D

Roleplaying, Alignment, NPCs would be starter tags @Shalvenay
As to how to word it, your original question serves as a good basis
I'm guessing the problem is an IC/OOC conflict with personality. In this case, it is not vastly different from someone who has an issue with sexual topics and has an overactive bard in the group

@Alphaeus hrm, as in a conflict between the IC personality of the NPCs in question and my RL personality?

@Shalvenay Right
I mean, I think there are questions similar, though not with politics directly

@Alphaeus yeah, I can see where you're getting there

@Shalvenay But that's part of the fun, Shal. That's a little bit of immersion there, which I think is a good thing.

11:21 PM
@KorvinStarmast yeah, it's a fine edge between immersion and table-dynamics issues with this sort of thing

I love how your cleric is adhering to a values system ... this is goodness.
It also means that nits did a good job of presenting them as the utter (censored)s that the FF can be.

yeah, the other half of that is that some people complain that due-process-based value systems have no place in D&D games

Really? Uh, I go back to when it was law/chaos. Look at the traditional values based society Rrauj comes from. It's a great fit for the character, but we are in a version of the wild west where we are

@KorvinStarmast you do raise an interesting point there :>

It's sort of like the guy from Philadelphia ends up near Deadwood during the 1870's gold craze. (Wait, that is a historical point, but I just realized that there was a TV series about that)

11:25 PM
Lol, true

Rrauj is experiencing culture shock. That's very realistic. :)
Speaking of being a good cleric, I am still working on a ritual idea for if/when Hal gets to level 3, I appeal to Rrauj to perform a rite inducting me into being a gloom stalker under the good auspices of Sylvanus ... or something like that. Still working out my lore on Sylvanus as it fits 5e

5e?
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
(sorry)

Hey, it got me back into the game/hobby. As I was just searching for my old AD&D 2e PHB, I stumbled across my lone Chivalry and Sorcery source book still in my possession.

Well, I'll accept that usage of it

I can't find my original C&S book, lost it somewhere during a move I guess. :(

11:28 PM
As long as it is serving the greater good

The source book is 40 years old, Swords and Sorcerers. Still has the rune cards in it.

Ugh, finally sorted out all the stuff for my WH40K character sheet
@KorvinStarmast Nice

My first 5e DM is also a WH40K player. WH40K seems to be all that our FLGS plays. Or MTG.

Well, I'm doing WH40K's rp systems (Only War, in this case).
Not the WH40K strategy system

Cool, but I can't afford another hobby.

11:30 PM
Haha, fair enough.

Wife already in my grill about D&D as it is. :(

The nice part is that WH40K's rp systems are rather contained, only a few books for each.

yeah -- 5e's a good system, just not designed for high-power/high-magic stuff

@KorvinStarmast You must indoctrinate her... >:}

so I understand why folks who do that stick to 3.x

11:32 PM
"5e's a good system"

I thought you were a sensible person before this :P

That ways lies marital discord. I may try to get her to play roll for shoes though. Looks like a fun game
@Alphaeus It's a good enough system.

Thankfully my fiance enjoys rpgs
but then again I feel like at my age that isn't terribly uncommon

Nice, glad to see that work out.
@Shalvenay I need to figure out our RL ages, I think we have 4 or 5 decades covered if we include our DM. Will fwd that idea in email.

@KorvinStarmast heheh

Madame Starmast had me steaming old wallpaper off of the bathroom wall this afternoon.
Hardly the work for a dashing adventurer, is it?

11:34 PM
as long as it wasn't the vinyl crap

Nah, paper and glue based.

good. vinyl wallpaper should never have been invented

@Shalvenay dear god that sounds horrid

(it's a very effective vapor barrier, on the utterly wrong side of the wall. great if you want to farm mold in your house)

That was my first thought...

11:36 PM
@Shalvenay I find your comment intriguing, and wish to subscribe to your newsletter ... our master bathroom has the vinyl stuff ...

@KorvinStarmast heheh. let me dig up the link for that

@KorvinStarmast Just seed the walls with shiitake spores :D

Gaaaaaaaaaaag.
Ah, there's the phone now, best wishes to all.

@Ben congrats!

11:42 PM

Ben
@doppelgreener Thankyou hehe. Apparently I got it in Jan.

guys, important question:
pbj with milk
quesadilla with chicken curry (meal prepped curry so just reheat)
ramen (swap sauce packet with chicken curry since it tastes almost the same)

which one should i do, im a tad sick atm too but nothing too bad

11:57 PM
@Skyler ramen

pbj with milk is my go-to comfort food.

^^That's a good second...I just like hot food over cold food usually (with notable exceptions such as sushi and desserts)
