10:00 PM
@BESW What happened to the birds of Guam?
And why were they special

Invasive species, particularly snakes and cats.
There are fewer than 200 of that little guy left, all in captivity.

@SPavel because some of them don't exist anywhere else
or are extinct everwhere else they were

@BESW that bird is fat and smol

or are extremely endangered now

two highly sought after qualities

10:04 PM
@BESW you're breaking my heart BESW.

My office is closing early today, huzzah!

Extinct on Guam, less than 3,000 left in the world.
Not seen since the 1960s, presumed extinct.

@BESW what are you trying to do to me! </3
I'm going to go right home and make sure all my feeders are full up as some sort of catharcic activity.

Not that our backyard sparrows are anywhere close to going hungry and/or extinct

10:10 PM
Less than 200 left in the world, all hand-raised and unable to survive in the wild.
Extinct on Guam, but common elsewhere in the Western Pacific.
Last seen in 1983.

titmouse?

Flycatcher.
Extinct on Guam, not endangered anywhere else in Micronesia and Palau.
Presumed extinct on Guam; range limited to a few islands to the north.

So guam has a whole lot of small birds that all died off

Aye. We aren't birdless, but the ones you'll usually see are sparrows, chickens, and crows--all introduced.
Most of our indigenous species had no idea how to keep their eggs and young safe from snakes.
On the other hand, we have fairy terns.
And yellow bitterns, which are transformers.
Oh, here's another one that's extinct on Guam (still in the wild in the northern islands, and more in captive breeding programs):

10:30 PM
ah yeah these guys
there is a mural with them on it

1 hour later…
11:33 PM
> What was that? You get +2 when you use Guile to create a diversion.
> Probably nothing. Once per session when Sneakily overcoming a patrol, you can turn a failed attempt into a success with style.

11:50 PM
> I'll go check it out. You get wpn:4 when Sneakily attacking a target who is out of sight of their nearby allies.
