1:00 PM
@BESW Thanks for warning me ;) It'll probably be something like that.

I prefer the oilier brands, the dryer ones seem to have more crunch, but it's not a pleasant one
e.g. Kettle Chips are too hard, with a sharp-edged break.

I like the kettle chips here
but they may actually be different

@eimyr i love those. 8)

I like plain chips that don't hurt my mouth.

1:04 PM
[has simple tastes]

oh we also have Lay's in spain

@doppelgreener So, are you planning to move?

so many flavors

@Golokopitenko Paprika?

actually, Kettle was my previous favourite before Red Rock. Red Rock's a little more moist & more satisfying.

1:05 PM
@eimyr paprika, Spanish ham, and flavors I can't even translate like "campesinas"

@eimyr I've been setting my affairs in order for a move to England in the third quarter of this year.

Huh. Have you decided a destination already?

England!

I have family over there I'll be staying with briefly while I set myself up.

Cool.
Let me know when you're here, maybe we could play something on occasion if you'd like to.

1:14 PM
Sure! :D

If you'll be anywhere near Midlands it would be easier :P

I presume "midlands" refers to "the middle bits" like manchester and sheffield and leeds? Presently I'll be moving into the general vicinity of London.

I'd say Midlands are between Birmingham and Sheffield. Manchester is North West.
I'm living not too far from Sheffield and a trip to London is not a spontaneous one.

pshaw, what, you don't go on 2½-hour trips for a lark? what kind of country is this

I don't enjoy birds that much.
(it's more 3-4 hours, if by car)
(also, depends what you consider London)
But if you're up for travelling to me weekly, you could join my group! :P

1:31 PM
@eimyr within like half an hour of the city i guess. there's that big circled road that does a good enough outline for me.

@eimyr And Greener is planning to keep Skyping into my group, which will be early his Saturday mornings. His cup runneth over.

That big circled road is a very good outline, unfortunately it's also called M25 and is quite a bit further than that.
I actually have no idea where London ends.
Or where London centre is.
@BESW Can we fight for him or something?

i forbid this
unless it is a fight via roll for shoes, because in roll for shoes, everyone is ultimately a winner

@eimyr You just have to get in your car at 3am Saturday and Skype into my sessions with him.

@BESW I could just leave for London when my Friday game ends and then as I arrive you should be just about setting up

1:41 PM
That sounds perfect!

i'm interested to find out what london internet's like

OR BETTER YET, I should travel to Guam to Skype Greener.

sounds good, more time for sleep on the plane

2:17 PM
I just got the Famous Question badge (for 10,000 views) on a question with a score of 7 and answers scoring 7, 7 and 1. I'm bemused and confused.

Grats!

2:36 PM
Thanks :)

2:55 PM
@doppelgreener :D
thats... kinda awesome though

Does someone know some available hackable Fate Parlour LRP rules to mix into my recently-resurfaced Blood&Tears Steampunk hack?
Does not need to be straight Fate, can be Fate via ..., as in this case, where it's Fate via Houses of the Blooded.

Q: Is there a Fate LARP?

eimyrI was wondering whether there is a LARP implementation of Fate Core or Accelerated anywhere? I did take a look at Fate SRD, but they don't seem to mention that. I am really curious at this point, since simple, RPS-compatible mechanics seem like a good candidate for a non-physical combat resolutio...

Dresden Lives was cancelled, but I'm pretty sure I've seen something about LARP rules more recently.

3:14 PM
Oh. I should add "Diceless", in a medium sense of the word: I would not be against a very simple randomizer, used rarely. I don't want dice or a Deck of Fate.

Then in what sense do you want a Fate system?

Fate point economy playing a core role, with various effects. Free-form aspects.

Ah.
Then I won't suggest K&T's LARP rules as a substitute.
And that's about all I know about LARP systems, so I'm out.
Sleeeeep.

K&T?
Good night!
Wait, should you not be like 13 hours off me, now I'm back in Germany and not in NZ any more?
Ah, okay, less than that. My orientation in many places of the world is still skewed.

2 hours later…
5:12 PM
@BESW Ideally, Fate point economy playing a core role, with Compels at least, Declare Story Detail where acting is not a thing, and if applicable Invokes. Free-form aspects. The high-collaboration ethos. Gold and Silver Rule. The ethos of Making Failure Awesome and Let the Player Do the Work.

2 hours later…
7:24 PM
evening

1 hour later…
8:41 PM
I just read Wy different-sized stress boxes and realised that I have handled stress in a non-intended way all the way through my last game!

@Anaphory Oh?

9:06 PM
Or was it actually the same, but phrased differently?
(Do you sleep only 5 hours?)

@Anaphory How'd you handle it?

Right now I think it was something with “Stress 2 must hit at least the second stress box” etc, which would amount to (roughly?) the same.

That sounds about right.
The most common "mistake" in using stress tracks is thinking you have to cross off that many boxes.

There may have been elements of that.
I cannot fully recall right now.

That does sound right, yeah.

9:11 PM
But looking at the question I definitely thought “That's not how we did it”, reading the SRD and thinking “Oh that makes sense” and only now I think it was something like “Stress 2 must hit at least the second stress box – and that does implement the same rule”.

@Anaphory Katanas & Trenchcoats. It's got a minimal rock-paper-scissors hack for LARP resolution, where folks who on paper would have highly ranked skills instead get access to additional moves like Horns, Anvil, and Maaaagaic.

like the idea is: if someone pulls off an attack +8 vs your defense +3, you have 5 harm to "absorb". you can use any one stress box (if you want) and any number of consequences (if you want). you can take 1 stress + a medium consequence, or 3 stress + a mild, or a severe.

Yep, I get that. I don't know what I did before, but it definitely had similar effects.

cool :)

I'll be interested to hear if your group notices any difference in gameplay from the change, whatever it is.

9:16 PM
also, gangs of NPCs can work a bit differently because of a thing called overflow - excess harm hits the next NPC and so forth. if that's something you've got on your mind.

@BESW That campaign finished some time ago.
Actual finished, not hiatus, yay!

Ooer.

How's this:
> A remainder of diplomatic immunity: The first time per scene when someone attacks you physically, gain 1FP

@doppelgreener "Gangs of NPCs" is a Martin Scorsese film that never got out of development hell.
@Anaphory Hmm. I think that's pretty great.

@doppelgreener I have definitely read that rule at some point, maybe used it. I don't know whether it has to do with the confusion.
I'm quite happy that this time round I'm not the GM and supposed Fate expert, and can see how others read, use and play the rules.

9:28 PM
It's nice to have a more rounded understanding of the experience.

@Anaphory That's a pretty cool stunt. :D

@doppelgreener I thought of giving her some more ways of defending. Then I thought this would fit better ;)
Also, it signals things.

Signalling things is good!

It is!

Q: I feel that moderator removed interesting part of question while editing - would it be ethical to undo his edit?

Jaiden SnowTo be more specific: http://rpg.stackexchange.com/posts/78349/revisions I'm talking about change №3 by mzyzplk - "When did that happen" - this line was removed by moderator - but actually, I feel that this was an interesting, and quite organic part of the question - it forms context and adds l...

9:34 PM
I had quite a few ideas for phrases that would fit. Signalling was the main decision point which ones I turned into Aspects (Make this an issue for my character!) or Stunts (I do this!).

9:57 PM
@Anaphory That's a good baseline!

user15026
@doppelgreener We'd not take it on gaming, either. We don't do those sorts of requests.

@AshleyNunn i thought that would be unlikely
probably "recommend me a server to play on pl0x" is the bigger problem

Topicality asked in 2010 and 2012, same answer both times.

user15026
@doppelgreener These are hilarious!

@AshleyNunn You've seen the star I made at Greener's request, right?

user15026
10:53 PM
@BESW I hadn't seen that, no. It's terrific.
