The little I remember is a man that is trying to hide enters a woman's room. Somehow she helps him, but for a cost, which prompts the hero to mentions something abo...

Meh, I have to reduce this long essay to just one comment, but still have to make it obvious how clearly wrong that comment is.

Darn! I can't fit it well in two messages. You just have to read the book. It's too good and I want to quote all of it, and this is a very important topic that much of the book is about.
When someone completely misunderstands the book, it's hard to give a clear explanation without retelling the whole book. I don't know what to do.

Just leave a downvote and walk away?

All I could do is try to make it clear why someone could have come up with this answer if he gave up somewhere between chapter 6 and 18, because the book deliberately tries to give you that idea.
@Mithrandir Sure, I'll downvote too. But still.
I mean, sure, at least once I've misunderstood an important point in Harry Potter too. And I proudly keep the downvotes from them.
Or did I delete that? Hmm...
Darn, I think I deleted it.
Nope, I didn't delete it! scifi.stackexchange.com/a/15766/4918 , another user (one of the ragequitters, I don't recall which number means which one) deleted it.

That'd be Keen.

Yeah, probably.
There's more than one ragequitted diamond admin on Sci Fi so I can't get them straight in my head.
Plus a few other ragequitted high-rep users, and they each left a lot of footprint.
