One of the key characters in Charles Dickens' "Great Expectations" is a person named Abel Magwitch.
"Magwitch" doesn't appear to be an existing name, nor does it seem to be a word with a different meaning (but perhaps my research is lacking). Where did Charles Dickens come up with it?
