@SwiftPushkar @SreeCharan @TheDestroyer @AnkitSharma @Pandya @KrishnShweta @all I just proposed a new rule in Meta.. what do you think:?...
0
A: Let's delete all old answers from early days of the site that lack any references at all

TezzI don't think all the unsourced answer should be deleted at this time. However if a question contains at least one sourced/scripture based answer, then all the other unsourced answers of that question should be deleted. Example: There is a question: Why is Lord Vishnu called Aravamudhan? I h...

@Tezz reading...
If you find other answer as better and with useful source/citation then you can request or point-out questioner to mark that as accepted but I don't think we should easily take the big step of deleting obsolete accepted answer just because later is better. — Pandya 1 min ago

@Pandya see my comment below..
@Pandya I'm not saying to delete answer if the latter answer is better.. I'm just saying to delete if the answer is unsourced... — Tezz 4 mins ago

@Tezz I agree. I can say your suggestion is better than that of proposed in question. Thanks! +1

@Pandya Haha... Thank You!...

5:05 AM
"a question contains at least one sourced/scripture based answer, then all the other unsourced answers of that question should be deleted." ok. let's see what community (active users & moderators)'s thought on this. Btw, this suggestion sounds better than that of proposed in question! — Pandya 8 mins ago

@Tezz Good suggestions. +1 for that.

@Pandya I don't think that is of primary importance (making 74)... as it will just change the 'answered' part to 'modified'... So I try to edit before 5 min passes...😀😀

@Tezz @Pandya Shall we discuss this in Hinduism chat room??

@SreeCharan Thank You!....
@SreeCharan Ok...

@Tezz Btw, Objector and We reply looks inspired by Adi Shankaracharya Bhashya! Haha
@Tezz ok

5:10 AM
@Pandya haha lol... Actually it may be inspired by Kumarila Bhattas Mimamsa Bhasya...😀😀

@Tezz @Pandya @TheDestroyer @SreeCharan @AnkitSharma - GM .💐🌸

@SwiftPushkar Good morning!!!!!!!!!

@Pandya - Is upanishdas "Akash" concept is similar to our general concept of Panchamahabutas? or its little mysterious or complicated to know..

@SreeCharan - 😀👍👍👍 , You will find ample description about colors of Vishnu avatras in all the yugas in Bhagvatam also :) will give you chapter name if you want in some time.

@SwiftPushkar OK.

5:50 AM
@TheDestroyer - Yes , MeghaShyamam मेघश्यामं 😊

@SwiftPushkar Good Morning!....😀

@SwiftPushkar Subhodayam.

@TheDestroyer Yes. He is of the complexion of a rain cloud. I know that.

@SwiftPushkar actually the Panchamahabhut concept is spiritual in Upanishads and Akash refers to Brahman as quoted from Brahma Sutra. Visit hinduism.stackexchange.com/a/16340/277 related post.

Why anybody yesterday told me about there answers , i was busy writing answer's & havent checked Active Questions.So missed @Pandya & @TheDestroyer answers yesterday , ...
@Pandya - Ok
@Tezz - Yes 😀👍💐

6:00 AM
@SwiftPushkar no-problem. I appreciate your knowledge of Puranas (especially Srimad Bhagavat). You provide very good answers!

@Tezz why letter "ऽ" is used as in शिवोऽहम् ?

@TheDestroyer Colder weather today comparatively to previous week!

@TheDestroyer it means to prolong the pronounciation... of वो

@Tezz But in chanting of Sri Rudram, i don't find any such prolongations.

@TheDestroyer - It means we have to sing swara Vo वो for long duration , 2-3 second's , with compare to other swaras

6:10 AM
@Pandya Yeah. Same here too in south.
@Tezz @SwiftPushkar Ok. I will check again. Thanks!

@TheDestroyer there are no prolongations denoted by "ऽ" in Sri Rudram...

@Tezz i didn't understand?
@Tezz In Telugu script of Sanskrit, "ऽ" is used.

@TheDestroyer there are small prolongation on Vedic tones which are denoted by Udatta Anudatta, Swarita... but not represented by "S"

@TheDestroyer - It's like Dirgha Swara दीर्घ स्वरा ,so that we can meditate on those swaras in our mind during ,listning or chanting.

@TheDestroyer It's just representation...

6:14 AM
@Tezz i learnt chanting from this video.

Actually there was no writing system previously... so we shouldn't be confused how they were written... @TheDestroyer

@Tezz Should i prolong or not in Sri Rudram?

@TheDestroyer prolong which word?..
@TheDestroyer nice chanting...

@Tezz Ok. I think the telugu "உ" is different from "ऽ".
@Tezz I learned chanting through that video.

@TheDestroyer which letter in which word in Sri Rudram are you trying to prolong...
@TheDestroyer Did you fully memorized Sri Rudram.. ?..

6:23 AM
In "Aghoraapakasini", in telugu script , உ is present after "raa". The video neglects உ .
No prolongation. I thought உ was same as ऽ. But they are different.
@Tezz Yeah. Almost. But not thoroughly.
I asked a question about it on Indian Languages SE.
@SreeCharan @sv. ^^

@TheDestroyer see above.. in Aghorapapakasini...

@Tezz Yeah. In Devanagari, it doesn't have any letter.

@TheDestroyer Paa should be pronounced little bit longer than Raa... as I discuss here:
15
A: Procedures used for preserving the integrity of the Vedas

TezzVery special procedures are applied to preserve Vedas. Here are some of them: 1) Divisional Protection: Veda Výas divides Veda at the end of Dwapar into Rig, Yajur and Sama so that it becomes suitable for men of Kaliyuga so that they can just study part of it as they do not have enough memory a...

@Tezz Letter "உ " is neglected throught out the Sri Rudram. I think it has different significance and related to Telugu language than Sanskrit.

@TheDestroyer Ok...

6:32 AM
@Tezz Where can i hear those chandas?

@TheDestroyer which Chhandas?..

Sorry chandas.

@Tezz I just posted a question about Kumarila Bhatta's belief that Brahman is the soul of the Vedas/Sabda Brahman:
0
Q: Which Purva Mimamsa philosophers think Brahman is the soul of the Vedas?

Keshav SrinivasanAs I discuss in this question, by far the most popular school of Hindu philosophy is the Vedanta school, which bases its tenets on the doctrines laid out in the Brahma Sutras, a work by the sage Vyasa that summarizes and systematizes the philosophical teachings of the Upanishads. (You can read th...

@KeshavSrinivasan Ok... nice question... !..

@TheDestroyer Can you write it in telugu?
yesterday, by Sree Charan
@KeshavSrinivasan I have never heard a Sadari or Sadagopam called a Sadagopuram.
@KeshavSrinivasan Where is sadagopuram used?

6:45 AM
@SreeCharan You mean you've heard of the words Sadari and Sadagopam but not Sadagopuram, or you haven't heard of any of those words?

@TheDestroyer hmm.. you have changed about to Shivoham...

@KeshavSrinivasan I know sadari and sadagopan but not sadagopuram.

@SreeCharan
@Tezz Haha. Yeah.

@SreeCharan Oh ok. Yeah, I also know it as Sadari primarily. I've never heard anyone say Sadagopam or Sadagopuram in real life.

@TheDestroyer previously you have asked about colour of Shivas bull... From Mahabharata I found it's white... Is there a question related to it... ?...

@Tezz You can also put your own line.

@Tezz No. generally all bulls in temples are black. I thought Vrishabha was of black color too.

@TheDestroyer Ok... It's white...

@SreeCharan By the way, I'm planning to post a question about who started the practice of Sadari. I assume it was some Sri Vaishnava Acharya.

6:50 AM
@SreeCharan I think I should put latter...

@Tezz Do you know any Swayambhu bull?

What is Sadari?

or Nandi

@KeshavSrinivasan You have also answered a question regarding satagopam on our site too. ^^^

@TheDestroyer I don't know... do you know?...

6:51 AM
@KeshavSrinivasan These days it is there in Shiva nad sakthi temples also.

@Tezz No. I don't know. I think bulls were built later for Swayambhu Shiva Temples.

@TheDestroyer yes, I too think they were built latter...

@Tezz You also update your "about" section.

@TheDestroyer I have some nandis made with marble too. The nandis' are black generally because the stone is black.
@KeshavSrinivasan Some staunch devotee of Nammazhwar.

@SreeCharan @KeshavSrinivasan What is Sadari?

6:55 AM
@TheDestroyer I'll update soon..

@TheDestroyer See my answer here:

A: What is the significance of Satagopuram?

Keshav SrinivasanIt's because the Sadagopuram, AKA Sadagopam or Sadari, is unique to Vishnu temples. The Alwars (also spelled Azhwars) are a group of 12 ancient Vaishnava saints who lived in Tamil Nadu and are famous for their poetry in praise of Vishnu, which was pivotal in the development of the Sri Vaishnava ...

@KeshavSrinivasan Satagopam is also used in Shiva Temples.

@SreeCharan "Staunch devotee of Nammalwar" describes pretty much every Sri Vaishnava Acharya, haha. And it describes at least two of the Alwars Madhurakavi Alwar, who was Nammalwar's Shishya, and Thirumangai Alwar who started the Adhyayana Utsavam festival in Sri Rangam in honor of Nammalwar.
@TheDestroyer Hmm, I'm not sure why it would be used in Shiva temples. It's not like Shaivites revere Nammalwar.

@KeshavSrinivasan A temple near my house "Vishweswara-Annapurana Devi temple" uses Satagopam.

7:01 AM
@KeshavSrinivasan Shaivates and other sects use satagopam. For them, the feet on it are the feet of SHiva nad parvati and respected deity.

@SreeCharan Yeah, it's understandable that Shaivites revere the feet of Shiva, but only the top of the Sadagopam represents the feet of Vishnu. The whole thing represents the head of Nammalwar.

@KeshavSrinivasan I know. The name shatagopam came because of Nammazhwar.
14 hours ago, by Sree Charan
@SwiftPushkar @Tezz @TheDestroyer @Pandya @KeshavSrinivasan In which parva ithe places of Lakshmi devi are said in mahabharata.?
@KeshavSrinivasan Do you know where it is mentioned?
@TheDestroyer Do you know nammazhwar?

@KeshavSrinivasan @SreeCharan - Yes , In my city , there is one "lord Karyikeya" temple ,some time ago i visited there , there is seprate Shree vishnu temple in that premises , they put this Satagopam over my head 😊👍

@SreeCharan Where did you get the idea that it's mentioned in the Mahabharata?

@SreeCharan I just know his name.
@SwiftPushkar In Andhra, almost every temple has Satagopam. They at least put it on head for money. (10 Rs).

7:06 AM
@KeshavSrinivasan I saw a video. In which the speaker says, in MB, 96 places are mentioned.
I am not posting it here because you can't understand telugu.

@SreeCharan Do you know anything about letter "உ "?

@TheDestroyer What, they charge money to put the Sadagopam on your head? Nammalwar would be outraged, haha

@SreeCharan there are more than 96 places mentioned in Mahabharata....

@TheDestroyer - oh ,i see , here there is no such custom , Prists only give , parsad & tirtha in most Famous temples , even , There is Prati Balaji (Second tirupati) temple here , but they ,do not Carry out this bacause of large no.of devotees😊

@TheDestroyer Are you referring to the Tamil letter "u"?

7:11 AM
@KeshavSrinivasan haha. Yeah. My dad visits Venkateswara temple frequently and preist will be ready to put Satagopam and expects money, minimum 10 Rs. This is sad thing happenning in some Indian temples.
@KeshavSrinivasan No. it's telugu letter. I think Tamil small "aa" looks same but i think it's different.

@TheDestroyer I asked my teacher about this but he said, some letters are not used now and should be ignored. like arasunna. So I don't know.

@SreeCharan Yeah. It is neglected.

@SwiftPushkar After tirtha is given, shatagopam is put on our head.
@SwiftPushkar ping me.

@TheDestroyer Oh, I've never seen them charging for it in either Tamil Nadu or America.
@TheDestroyer No, in Tamil aa is ஆ and u is உ. See here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tamil_script#Vowels

@KeshavSrinivasan Some Priests(not all) in our states have become commercialised. Or I should say habituated to give/take money for every seva even which is free.

7:15 AM
@KeshavSrinivasan Yeah. I haven't seen that in Tamilnadu. But in North this is rampant. In Andhra, money is expected for Satagopam but in Varanasi and Kali Temple of Kolkata, situation is very bad.

@SreeCharan - Yes , it's quite some time ago , so don't remember the exact sequence , but i remember, abt this thing😊👍

@KeshavSrinivasan Also this is less known. A sri vaishnava who has got initiated should be given theerta thrice. Some priests don't give it. I ask specially and take it.

@KeshavSrinivasan I think this is due to Hindu endowment act. With growing inflation, they need more money for increasing cost of living. We can't blame them either.

@KeshavSrinivasan @TheDestroyer You will see much more charging at Puri jagannath. If you give more money, treatment will be more special.

@SreeCharan haha.

7:19 AM
@SreeCharan Not just thirtha thrice, also Sadagopam on the shoulders where the brands are.

@KeshavSrinivasan Yes.

@SreeCharan Well, special treatment based on extra money is common even in Tamil Nadu temples.

@Tezz Will you tell me in which parva and chapter they are mentioned?

@SwiftPushkar Good afternoon

@SreeCharan @KeshavSrinivasan During Krishna Pushkaras, when we were coming out, many Brahmin priests were asking for poojas just like Autowalas ask us when we come out of railway station. I felt very bad at this. They besmeared Shiva Namams all over their bodies and they know Vedas Mantras but still asking people (it's like begging) which is very bad.

7:24 AM
@KeshavSrinivasan@AnkitSharma I have never seen two mods active at a time. When one enters other exits.It is like lookin sun and moon at a time. :D
@TheDestroyer I too felt very sad when I went to godavari pushkaralu.

@SreeCharan we are from different timezones

@TheDestroyer I've only had an experience like that once, and that was in North India. It happened both in Nand Gaon, the house of Nanda Gopa where Krishna was raised, and in Barsana, the house of Radha. In Barsana it was the worst. We literally had to run up the steps of the temple to escape the priests who were chasing us trying to get money.

@AnkitSharma I know.

@SreeCharan I'm telling in the whole Mahabharata there are more than 96 places...

@Tezz OK.

7:26 AM
@Tezz I think he meant 96 places of Lakshmi, not 96 total places.

@Tezz Is milk and mirror one of them?

@TheDestroyer In Nand Gaon, the priests kept the curtain in front of the Krishna statue closed while they delivered a long lecture on why they needed money. My uncle got really annoyed by this, and he kept repeating in Tamil "Krishnar pathi pesu" - "talk about Krishna". He said it in Tamil so they wouldn't understand it.
@TheDestroyer And once we exited the Nandagaon temple, the priests exited the temple in order to hound us for money.

@KeshavSrinivasan haha. This is greatness of india where you can use other language to comment or scold someone.

@TheDestroyer Do you know, Mr_Green is also from Telangana?

@KeshavSrinivasan haha.
@SreeCharan ohh.. i thought he was from Mumbai.

7:34 AM
@TheDestroyer He is Hyderabad.

@SreeCharan ok.
@SreeCharan how do you know he is from TS?

@TheDestroyer I know Mr_Green's exact location too :P

@SreeCharan Oh.. I didn't understand your question... sorry..

@TheDestroyer btw, if Hyderabad is a capital of Telangana then which is the capital of AndraPradesh now?

@Pandya Indra's city :P

@TheDestroyer - Amaravati ,right , there is one amaravati in MH also😀

8:24 AM
@Pandya Hyderabad is common capital for 10 years from formation of new states. But APs historic city of Amaravati is choosen as new capital.
@SwiftPushkar Yes. Named after Amaralingeswara Temple.
Amaralingeswara Swamy temple is located in Amararama which is one of the Pancharama Kshetras which is located at Amaravati town near Guntur City in Andhra Pradesh in southern India. Lord Shiva is known as Amareswara Swamy or Amaralingeswara Swamy here. The temple is situated on the southern bank of Krishna River. The consort of Lord Amareswara Swamy is Bala Chamundika. The Sivalinga at this place is installed and established by Lord Indra. The temple is closed between 1PM and 4PM everyday. == The Deity == The Sivalinga here is very tall that the archakas mount a pedestal platform, and perform the...

@Tezz Do dead have only existence without Consciousness and bliss?

3:52 PM
@TheDestroyer Jivas in the afterlife certainly have consciousness.
@Tezz I just found a passage in Kumarila Bhatta's Tantra Vartika where he says that you are allowed to read more than one Veda, but you are not allowed more than one Shakha of the same Veda: gdurl.com/wELO
@Tezz This is in the context of discussing whether someone who reads multiple Shakhas will get confused and think that the Jyotishtoma Yagnas described in different Shakhas are different, when really there is only one Jyotishtoma Yagna. Kumarila Bhatta responds that such confusion will never arise, because a person is not allowed to read multiple Shakhas.
@Tezz But then Kumarila Bhatta himself seems to be violating this rule, haha, because he discusses what different Shakhas of the same Veda say about the Jyotishtoma Yagna.

4:27 PM
@KeshavSrinivasan No. I mean dead bodies.

@SwiftPushkar Sundara kanda..But I think I can clarify you.

@SreeCharan @Pandya @TheDestroyer Sorry I was doing some work :)

@KrishnShweta why sorry?

@TheDestroyer I started asking my doubt and then without completing it I left the room.
So.. I was talking about these verses which are saying about Advaita ( my understanding)
1 more is :

4:50 PM
@KeshavSrinivasan What are conscious things and unconscious things according to Samkhya philosophy?

@TheDestroyer Krishna kuda Advaita gurinchi chepinda?

@SreeCharan Oh, are you referring to my Kapila dialogue?

@KeshavSrinivasan Yes.

@SreeCharan The conscious things are Purushas, and the unconscious thing is Prakriti.

@KrishnShweta No. Different philosophers interpreted differently.

4:56 PM
@KrishnShweta Krishna only said about Himself. To understand it clearly, many philosophers wrote commentaries.

@SreeCharan @TheDestroyer How all souls are eternal? Only God or Supreme God must be eternal right? (from my 1st uploaded pic)

@KrishnShweta Atman in you is the only truth. It must be eternal. See this answer.
3
A: How can the Vedas be constant when they come from the 4 heads of Brahma?

The DestroyerVedas are eternal and apauruSheya (अपौरुषेय) which means "not produced by man". Veda Samhitas (core portions of Vedas) are heard by sages in deep tapasya. Veda Samhitas talk about eternal truths which are constant always. Truth is always same and it doesn't change with time. Vedas also say, time...

@KrishnShweta See verse 20 also.
@TheDestroyer Work for you. hinduism.stackexchange.com/…

@SreeCharan haha. only 1 people voted to delete it.

@TheDestroyer I voted to turn it to comment.

5:04 PM
@SreeCharan i flagged it as low quality answer.

@TheDestroyer I reviewed it as a late answer. So I can't review as a low quality.
@TheDestroyer Anyways, the dates given by the OP are also wrong.

@SreeCharan Yeah.

@TheDestroyer @SreeCharan OK. I'll go through different commentaries too.

@KrishnShweta The jīva cannot be demonstrated by those means of knowledge(pramanas) by which gross objects can be demonstrated; hence it is said to be unmanifest. The jīva is different in kind from objects susceptible to cutting etc., therefore It is inconceivable. Not having any of the nature, elements and constituent parts of any other [known] object, the jīva cannot even be conceived of, therefore it is unchanging and incapable of modifications. 1/2
2/2 @KrishnShweta Thus, knowing this jīva to be possessed of the above mentioned qualities, it is not proper for you to feel grief for it.
These are the pramanas : There are three means of knowing:— a. pratyakṣa — direct personal perception, b. anumāna — inference through the process of logical reasoning and c. śabda — verbal testimony from a reliable source. The jīva cannot be demonstrated either by direct perception or through inference but can only be known through Scriptural testimony @KrishnShweta
@TheDestroyer Have you gone through the close votes?
@KeshavSrinivasan You are taking on other philosophies in your writings!!!! How is kapila different from prakriti and purusha?

@SreeCharan yeah. why?

5:14 PM
@TheDestroyer Nothing. just reminding your pending posts(if there are any). The atharvana veda question should be closed.

@SreeCharan yeah. i voted to close it. check history.

@TheDestroyer I used to see my skipped reviews too. Where are they?
Got it.

@SreeCharan how to see skipped reviews?

@KrishnShweta Your answer for this question was answered by an astrologer in zeetelugu.

Really?

I was searching in scriptures to answer the question properly. @KrishnShweta
@KrishnShweta He only said about milk being spilled. But if you follow the program, u may get answer for mirror also.

5:52 PM
@SreeCharan Oh! who is he?

@KrishnShweta vakkantam chandramouli in sreekaram subhakaram. 8 am.

@SreeCharan Because Kapila is an incarnation of Vishnu. Kapila's Samkhya school believed that there are only Purushas and Prakriti, it didn't believe in the existence of a supreme being. So the point of my dialogue is to address the question "Why did Kapila, who is an incarnation of Vishnu, found a school which doesn't accept the existence of a supreme being?"
@SreeCharan And the answer I'm giving is that Kapila was only describing things other than himself, i.e. other than Sriman Narayana.
@SreeCharan By the way, in Visistadvaita terminology, Purusha corresponds to Chit and Prakriti corresponds to Achit.

@SreeCharan OK.

@KeshavSrinivasan Did you see this question and answer?

Q: Did the destruction of Daksha's sacrifice also happened in present Vaivasvata Manvanatara?

TezzIt is a well known event that Mahadeva destroys sacrifice of Daksha when Devi Sati destroys herself in the sacrifice. But it happened in the Pitri Kalpa. Destruction of Yajna of Daksha is the symbolism of the fact that Devas due to their arrogancy are stupefied to such level that they proceed to...

@SreeCharan But how you are saying that he is an astrologer?

5:59 PM
@KrishnShweta He says daily predictions. He adds another topic. Current topic is omens.

OK...

@SreeCharan No, I didn't see it until you mentioned it. But I think that chapter of the Shanti Parva of the Mahabharata is an interpolation, for multiple reasons. First, because those chapters of the Shanti and Anushasana Parvas where Janamejaya interjects with a question are widely considered interpolations.
@SreeCharan And second, because it contains the line "We have many Rudras armed with lances and bearing matted locks on their heads. They are eleven in number. I know them all, but I do not know who this (new Rudra) Maheswara is." which is emblematic of later developments in Hindu thought.
@SreeCharan I think other accounts in the Mahabharata of Shiva destroying Daksha's Yagna are authentic, but this particular one is not.
