@KeshavSrinivasan I don't think any scripture describes it.. 😀😀😀

1:53 AM
@Tezz Well, Arulnandi Shivacharya makes it sound as if it's common knowledge, so if it was really common knowledge among ancient Indians then it may be mentioned in Hindu scripture.
@Tezz I think the female crane thing is probably also described somewhere in Hindu scripture, since it's mentioned as a commonly known fact by Adi Shankaracharya, Kalidasa, and the Buddhist philosopher Buddhaghosa.
@Tezz Wow, I just found out that there's an entire Wikipedia article about this phenomenon:
Entombed animals are animals reportedly found alive after being encased in solid rock, or coal or wood, for an indeterminate amount of time. The accounts usually involve frogs or toads. The reputed phenomenon, sometimes called "toad in the hole", has been dismissed by mainstream science, but has remained a topic of interest to Fortean researchers. == Reports == References to entombed animals have appeared in the writings of William of Newburgh, J. G. Wood, Ambroise Paré, Robert Plot, André Marie Constant Duméril, John Wesley, and others. Even Charles Dickens mentioned the phenomenon in his journal...
@Tezz It says "about 210 entombed animal cases have been described in Europe, North America, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand since the fifteenth century". But it doesn't mention Asia.

@KeshavSrinivasan hmm... interesting...
@KeshavSrinivasan Because in the Asia it happened before 15th Century.. haha

@Tezz Haha yeah, maybe ancient Indians made this scientific discovery long before the rest of the world.

@KeshavSrinivasan haha..
@KeshavSrinivasan Is Kaushitki Brahmana avaliable online ..?

2:09 AM
@Tezz Yes, this book contains both the Aitareya Brahmana and the Kaushitaki Brahmana of the Rig Veda: books.google.com/…

@KeshavSrinivasan how to download it.. ?.. Is it not avaliable in Archive.. ?

@Tezz Yes, the same book is there in archive.org: archive.org/details/rigvedabrahmana00keitgoog

@KeshavSrinivasan Oh ok... Thank You!...

@Tezz By the way, I also have the corresponding Aranyakas if you're interested. The Brahmana and Aranyaka of the Sakala Shakha of the Rig Veda are the Aitareya Brahmana and the Aitareya Aranyaka. The Brahmana and Aranyaka of the Bashkala Shakha of the Rig Veda are the Kaushitaki Brahmana and the Shankhayana Aranyaka.
@Tezz The Aitareya Aranyaka contains the Aitareya Upanishad, and the Shankhayana Aranyaka contains the Kaushitaki Upanishad.

2:26 AM
@KeshavSrinivasan oh nice.. I want these also...
@KeshavSrinivasan by Kaushitaki Upanishad you mean Kaushitaki Brahmana Upanishad.. ?..
@KeshavSrinivasan do you have Taittariya Aranyaka in English.. ?

@Tezz Yes, it's also called the Kaushitaki Brahmana Upanishad. Despite its name, it is found in the Aranyaka of the Shakha rather than the Brahmana.
@Tezz No, there is a translation of the Taittirya Aranyaka in print form: exoticindiaart.com/book/details/… But I've never found an online version of it.

@KeshavSrinivasan Oh ok...
@KeshavSrinivasan you are mailing me.. or these are also avaliable in archive?..

@SwiftPushkar शुभोदयः
@SwiftPushkar The other day, you asked about mangalasanams, they are there in the previous video I posted above. The one giving the harati is HH Chinna Jeeyar swami. He is my acharya.

@SreeCharan - 😉शुभोदय: 💐👍
@SreeCharan - Which video ,🎬 oh , it's very good to know he is your Acharya 😊 Have you talked wirh him personally , I came to know about him on this site , sv question.

4
Q: Why does Chinna Jeeyar Swami carry a bunch of sticks and a flag attached to them?

sv.Why does Chinna Jeeyar Swami carry a bunch of sticks and a white cloth or flag attached to them? What is the significance of these sticks? Why isn't it just a single stick; why should it be a cluster of sticks? Why are these sticks sometimes covered in cloth?

@SreeCharan - ok , it's a bit long duration video , i will watch it later on , thanks😊👍👍

@SwiftPushkar I have not talked to him personally. In Sri Vaishnava tradition, one who does the initiation is considered as acharya. Our family follows Him. When you press on the video. The video starts with the mangala sasanams. Do you know the temple is near Keshav's home?

4:38 AM
@SreeCharan - ok , over here - मंगलं भगवान् विष्णु ..is more popular , & i never heard the stotra from that video ' i will write that down😊 I am not from US , I am from Maharashtra India😀

@KeshavSrinivasan While I was reading about nayanars, there was also a name kannappa nayanar. He lived in Sri Kalahasti of present day Andhrapradesh. AFAIK he wrote no poems and he was a hunter. So I still doubt that all the nayanars are poets like our alwars.

@SreeCharan @SwiftPushkar Yes, that place is about 15 or 20 minutes from my house, although I've only been there once, to see the Sri Vaishnava lecturer Velukkudi Krishna.
@SreeCharan Hmm, interesting. We'd need to look in the Thirumurai (the equivalent of the Naalayira Divya Prabandham) to see if poems of all 63 Nayanars are included.

4:57 AM
@KeshavSrinivasan - Oh ok 😊 , its nice to know that , you are having temple nearby , here , we have at least 1 temple after say 4-5 km 😀
@Tezz - ☺ GM , why , Mouna vrata 😀

@SwiftPushkar Oh, after 4-5 kms, effect of kali yuga...

@Tezz The Aitareya Aranyaka of the Rig Veda is on sacred texts: sacred-texts.com/hin/sbe01/index.htm And the Shankhayana Aranyaka of the Rig Veda is in archive.org: archive.org/details/sankhayanaaranya00keitrich
@SwiftPushkar The part of America I live in, New Jersey, has a high Indian population, so we have lots of temples nearby.

@SreeCharan - Ha Ha , but here in all small & big cities , Temple constructions are going on high rate, so new temples are under construction all over india also

@SwiftPushkar Here is a list of temples near my house:
Aug 11 '16 at 17:04, by Keshav Srinivasan
@TheDestroyer There's lots of Hindu temples near my house. There's a Vedanarayana temple, a Durga temple, a Balaji temple, a Shirdi Sai Baba temple, a Guruvayurappan temple, a Krishna temple, a Swaminarayan temple, a Sri Vaishnava Matham, and an Advaita ashram.

@KeshavSrinivasan - Oh , godd , so you have lot's of people to talk with & having a good company of Hindu people.So you are lucky, wht abt.people living in other parts , do all parts have hindu communities , or indian subrerbs
@KeshavSrinivasan - ohh , nice , so it's almost like living in India itself , so you are living in INDIA inside US😀👍👍🌸

5:10 AM
@SwiftPushkar Yes, any big city in America will have a few Hindu temples, but New Jersey has tons of Hindu temples because it's within commuting distance of New York City, which is where most IT people work, so since almost all IT people tend to be Indians, a huge Indian community is present here.
@SwiftPushkar By the way, here's some pictures of the Balaji temple near my house:

@KeshavSrinivasan What is source of this Dhyana Sloka of Bhagavadgita?
.Om Parthaya prathi boditham bhagawathaa narayanena swayam,
Vyasaena grahitham Purana muninaa madhye Mahabaratham,
Advaithamrutha varshaneem bhagawtheem ashta dasa dhyayineem,
Ambaa thwaam anusandadhami bhagwad geethaa bhava dweshineem.
That which was taught to Arjuna by Lord Narayana himself,
Which was written by the epic sage Vyasa in the middle of Mahabaratha,
Oh Mother goddess who showers the nectar of advaitha called the Bhagawad Gita ,
Which has eighteen chapters , I meditate on you mother who removes all past karma

@KeshavSrinivasan - 😮 , grt. temples 👍👍
@KeshavSrinivasan - see my new answer , do you have "Bhojan Vidhi" procedure in krishna yajurveda similar to this , ie mantras part etc? unfortunately most part is in sanskrit , i will try to give english tranlation also.

@TheDestroyer I've never heard that verse, but it sounds like it was composed by some Advaitin. That verse isn't present in Adi Shankaracharya' Bhagavd Gita Bhashya, so maybe some later Advaitin.

@KeshavSrinivasan This Dhyana Sloka is very famous here.
Every Bhagavadgita Audio in telugu will have this sloka.

@TheDestroyer - नमस्कारं बंधू , शुभ दिनं 💐👍 GM , Hiii bro. Hoe are you😃

5:19 AM
@SwiftPushkar नमस्कारं.

Q: What scriptures describe toads being found in the heart of rocks?

Keshav SrinivasanThe term "Shaivite" is overused nowadays. For instance, Iyer Brahmins are often called Shaivites, but they're actually followers of Adi Shankaracharya's Smartha sect (which I discuss here and here), and simply adopt Shiva as their Ishta Devata. True philosophical Shaivism is relatively rare nowad...

@SwiftPushkar fine bro. You?

@KeshavSrinivasan - Excellent Question , even from geology point of view , we have 2-3 stories abt.this 1) Shree samartha Ramdas swami story frm 15 century& other one is Shree Gajanan Maharaj story from early 1900 , describing and smashing rocks to reveal toad inside🐸
@KeshavSrinivasan - i have been hearing these stories since my childhood & they are quite popular

@SreeCharan Do you know anything about above Bhagavadgita Dhyana Sloka? / @Tezz

@TheDestroyer OK, I was right, it was composed by a later Advaitin, namely the 16th century Advaitin Madhusudhana Saraswati: books.google.com/…

5:25 AM
@TheDestroyer - Ya me too , yesterday , internet connection was broken , so written down 2-3 answers half😀

@KeshavSrinivasan page 2 is not available for preview.

@TheDestroyer Here:

@KeshavSrinivasan ok.
See this
Madhusūdana Sarasvatī (c.1540–1640) was an Indian philosopher in the Advaita Vedānta tradition. He was the disciple of Viśveśvara Sarasvatī and Mādhava Sarasvatī, and is the most celebrated name in the annals of the great dvaita-advaita debate. His Advaitasiddhi is a somewhat classic work, and most Advaita teachers maintain that all the logical issues raised by the dvaita school of Ananda Tīrtha are sufficiently answered by Madhusūdana. == Birth and Education == Madhusūdana was born in Bengal, and originally called Kamalanayana. He was educated in the Navya-Nyāya tradition, but became an Advaita...
he changed from Dvaita to Advaita

@SwiftPushkar I had never heard of such stories. So do these stories involve Swamis predicting that there will be a toad inside the rock and then their predictions are proven correct?
@TheDestroyer He didn't believe in Madhvacharya's philosophy of Dvaita Vedanta, he originally didn't believe in the Vedanta school at all, instead he believed in Gautama's Nyaya school, and then he became an Advaitin.

@KeshavSrinivasan Yeah. Finally he realized the truth. 😀

5:35 AM
@TheDestroyer Haha, or went out of the frying pan and into the fire :-)
@TheDestroyer In any case Madhusudhana Saraswati holds a special place in my heart, because he's one of the few later Advaitins who had Vishnu as their Ishta Devata.

@KeshavSrinivasan Even now, i think many Advaitins have Vishnu as their Ista Deva.

@TheDestroyer No, the vast majority have Shiva as their Ishta Devata.
@TheDestroyer Another thing I like about Madhusudhana Saraswati is that he was a strong supporter of Pancharatra Agamas.

@KeshavSrinivasan I do not exact statistics now. but Godivandananda Saraswathi from pampa Kshetra has Vishnu as Ista Deva. He's staunch Advaitin.

@KeshavSrinivasan - The story about Samartha Ramdas swami is - Under Chatrapati shivaji maharaj rule , forts were under construction in Maharashtra in order to fight against Mughals.So while one construction he shown this phenomina to Shivaji Maharaj , i am finding , that text., most of samatha Ramadas literature is in Marathi language , but will find mentioning that incidence.😊

@KeshavSrinivasan Advaita relatively accepts all faiths.

5:43 AM
@TheDestroyer There may be a few Advaita Swamis here and there who have Vishnu as their Ishta Devata, but the vast majority have Shiva as their Ishta Devata.

@SwiftPushkar Do these stories have any explanation of how this phenomenon occurs? Because Arulnandi Shivacharya specifically makes the claim that such toads are not produced by intercourse.

@KeshavSrinivasan - mostly here in Maharashtra the purpose of these stories is to show greatness of god , or his devine power to people and to prove that he can do anything ,any miracle , who occasionally get egoestic feeling abt.their grt.achievements , so these stories are not associated with proving the point of origin of species by intercourse or not , so the purpose of these stories are diff.here than your point in question😊

@SwiftPushkar I found the story you referenced: "Once when Sivaji inadvertently mentioned that he was protecting all, Ramadasar asked him to break a stone-when a toad jumpes out-and says if Svaji was taking care of it. Sivaji realises & prostrates before his Guru." ranganramakrishnan.blogspot.com/2014/07/…

6:03 AM
@KeshavSrinivasan Every story you dig, you are finding toads in rocks....
@KeshavSrinivasan @TheDestroyer Many advaitan swamijis consider shiva as the brahman. Even though they consider vishnu as a sub-ordinate who dissolves into shiva at the time of pralaya. They worship Vishnu too.

@KeshavSrinivasan - That's correct , lot's of versions are there , so we can't say which one is correct unless we see original story in Ramdasa's book or in Gajanan-Vijay grantha , I have with me Gajanan-Vijay , i will try to find that part.

Q: How will we know the end of first part of the Kali yuga?

Sree CharanAs we know, There are four yugas (Satya, Treta, Dwapara, Kali). Every yuga consists of four parts (known as pādā in sanskrit). Many are aware that in the daily rituals we perform, we say Kali yuge prathama pāde as a part of Sankalpa of that pooja. It is quite common in almost every pooja. My q...

@SreeCharan - This is also excellent question , i am writing answer 😀 we call "Pada" as Charan ie.KaliYuge KaliPrathamCharane कलि युगे कलि प्रथम चरणे .Pada=Charan , both are correct.

@SwiftPushkar Yes. There are 4 sub questions in the question. Make sure you mention them in the answer. Waiting.

6:21 AM
@SreeCharan - yes , but it will take some time , don't know may be tomorow , cause still have to find abt.kaliyuga is divided in equal part or not.Looking in panchanga😀

@SwiftPushkar Ok. Take your own time. I don't pressurize you. I don't think panchanga will have that info.

@SreeCharan - ohh , yes i know you very well😊👍👍 it's not like that, but will only give answer if good proof's are found.📚📙📘📗📓📃📄

7:08 AM
@Tezz @SwiftPushkar I just posted a question about the toads thing on the site History Stackexchange:
0
Q: Are there any references to entombed animals in Ancient India?

Keshav SrinivasanThe 13th century Hindu philosopher Arulnandi Shivacharya wrote a work called the Shiva Jnana Siddhiyar, which among other things contains a refutation of Buddhist philosophy. In this excerpt, various Buddhist theories of what the ultimate cause of the body is are refuted: If you say bodies a...

@KeshavSrinivasan - Also In this blog the Toad story is described tamilandvedas.com/tag/shivaji , yes , Will go over there😊

@SwiftPushkar Hmm, that web page says "One of the nature’s wonders is that toads inside the rocks. Whenever some stones are rocks are cut, people see toads living inside them". It seems that everyone is talking about it as if it's common knowledge, haha

@KeshavSrinivasan - Yes , these stories are told by grandfather & father to their grandsons & sons , so as to keep the spirit of freedom alive in hearts of children , cause we have been under Mughal rule for long and Shivaji Maharaj has done a great amount of favour to Maharastrian people by establishing Maratha empire , even I faintly remember my father mentioning abt.this
@KeshavSrinivasan - see my quote abt.puranas from Taittirīya Aranyaka chat.stackexchange.com/rooms/48746/…
@KeshavSrinivasan @SreeCharan - I am also compling info about puranas i.e.Defination of word puana from various texts, the purpose and teaching of each purana , similarities & differences , impact on societies , etc.

7:28 AM
@SwiftPushkar Good work.

@KeshavSrinivasan @SreeCharan - By far i came to conclusion that puranas are not sectarian texts.But a attempt to unify Vishnu , Shiva &Devi , so the purpose of puranas is to keep alive values of sanatan Dharma and to remove misconcepts about vedas in the time when Jain and Buddhism were fast spreading , and to unite diff.sects ,people of bharat-varsha @SreeCharan - धन्यवाद 😀

Congrats @SwiftPushkar on becoming a trusted user.!!!!

10:02 AM
@SreeCharan - 😀 Thanks , wishing you to be same ASAP ..👍👍

@SwiftPushkar In the answer of chitrahuti, you can also add the third one also. Which says "Doing thus, wash the right hand and perform the achamana. Then reciting the अग्रिममन्त्र त्रयेण mantra, take the food."
May I be forgiven if there are any misinterpretations.
@SwiftPushkar It takes ages to me to reach there. Thank you for wishing. Is the translation correct? This is my very first translation of a verse with tiny knowledge I have of sanskrit.

10:29 AM
@SreeCharan - oh , ok ,i will edit the answer & Will add this and other details , i need to translate those all procedures in english correctly , but still thanks😊👍👍
@SreeCharan - Do you know that book is from 1884 😀
oops wrong calculation .. it's from 1962 not frm 1884 ..its shaka 1884 ie.1884+78= 1962😵

@KeshavSrinivasan I have read your featured question.
@KeshavSrinivasan I too know the story that you have mentioned in the question that Naraka was good till he was near Janaka.

@SreeCharan Did you watched "Devo k Dev Mahadev"?

4:45 PM
Hello @KrishnShweta, @TheDestroyer

@KrishnShweta I liked shiva Parvati kalyanam episodes. I don't know later episodes after jalandhar episodes.

@KrishnShweta ok.

@SreeCharan I didn't watched kalyanam. Actually I want to watch how Parvathi convinced Shiva to marry ^.^

@KrishnShweta Read Shiva Purana for that rather than their show. They added so much of artistic license.

@TheDestroyer Oh!!

@KrishnShweta I listened to chaganti's pravachanam of parvati kalyanam. After I listened to them, serial seemed less. Actually I watched the serial after listen to discourse.
@KrishnShweta I think you are aware of Chaganti Koteshwar rao garu.

5:02 PM
@TheDestroyer I guess you have given the links of puranas in one of you answers. Right?

@KrishnShweta Do you want to read that chapter?

@TheDestroyer Yes. What have you decided on links regarding copyrights?
@TheDestroyer I feel bad that the website holds the copy rights. How can they reserve rights on Puranas?

@SreeCharan I think All Puranas are copyrighted irrespective of what Indianscriptures say.
@SreeCharan Anyone can only claim copyright for translation only.

@SreeCharan Recently one of his follower posted an answer by mentioning SwiftPushkar's name. (I know him only by this). Nothing much
@TheDestroyer Yes. I want to read.

@KrishnShweta Read Parvathi Kanda of Rudra Samhita of Shiva Purana to get clear idea.

A: What is the significance of the swastika?

PandyaMeaning of Swastika Swastika (स्वस्तिक) = Su (सु) + Asti (अस्ति) + Ka(क) Su(सु) means Shubh(शुभ) i.e auspicious or welfare Asti(अस्ति) means be/happen or exist. It stand for power or existence. Ka(क) stands for doer or performer i.e Karta(कर्ता) So, Swasti means Be Auspicious or Be Welfar...

@KrishnShweta - No , this is unofficial number near river in rural open areas , not in city , my friend recorded that 2 days ago :)
