@AnnonomusPenguin yeah, it's not perfect yet. Report it on the GH repo

1:03 AM
@Undo too lazy :P
I'll do that tomorrow

@Undo In Firestorm, should I have access to flags from other people?
I have access (both read & write) to flag 2, while I didn't create it.

11:16 AM
[ SmokeDetector ] All-caps title: CASTING A INTEGER DATA INTO CHARACTER DATA on electronics.stackexchange.com

11:32 AM
Also, if I just want to see a flag, I have to log in. If you want to link to it from a mod flag, the mod has to log in, which is undesired I think.

Hey, is this the room for general chatroom support?

@skiwi Not really, this is the Charcoal chatroom. But our topics are not very defined, so feel free to ask your question :)

Hmm, well I was looking for such chatroom... but hey maybe you can help me here too
I cannot figure out a way to get a github commit feed working in a chatroom

@skiwi I actually don't think there is a chat support room; Meta.SE is for that.
@skiwi Hmm... let me look at those feeds.

The chatroom claims they support Atom feeds, but github commits do not work (it did pull the latest five commits, once), I tried all kinds of Atom to RSS services, neither of those seem to work... The regular SE questions and reddit RSS do work
Unfortunately didn't get a ractionw hen I posted a question on meta.SE

11:45 AM
@skiwi What happens if you add the feed?
Also, it takes some time before SE pulls from the feed.

1 hour seems excessively long... in fact after 24 hours it still hadn't posted anything

Hmm... yes, it is faster than 1 hour.

If I add the feed, then one time it did pull the latest 5 commit messages
I supose it uses some sort of caching, so it doesn't show them again
Over at The 2nd Monitor we already know how slow it is for questions :)

@skiwi I'll try it here:

Room for testing GitHub commit feeds

Because adding a GitHub commit feed didn't seem to work, this ...

I'll post a commit once it at least pulls latest five

11:50 AM
@skiwi Ok

12:38 PM
@ProgramFOX probably not. Will fix.

Ok
Have you already seen my updated pull request for Blaze?

not yet

1:34 PM

Yay stuff to flag!

heh
these are all for testing :P
But the answer's borderline, so...

@Undo I saw that you merged it. Thanks!

no, click the link @ProgramFOX
Wanna be on the Charcoal team on GH? ;)

Sure! Thanks :)

1:39 PM
yay

(because GH access means Charcoal HQ ownership)

Thanks!

no problem

1:45 PM
^ that one you can flag

I was about to comment :)

now I have to find that comment I use on those answers.

I use the AutoComment userscript for that.

yeah, it's borked for me
So I keep using a mod tool that's really slow

It was for me too after the change to the comment system, but it is fixed now.

It looks like someone is testing your RegExes.
in Tavern on the Meta on Meta Stack Exchange Chat, 53 secs ago, by Unihedron
> Yet, when I need to split a message in the chat because it gets too long (I know you wouldn't have guessed, but I am a bit long-winded sometimes), cut out the second half, hit enter, paste it back, and hit enter again, the chat server greets me with "you can try this action in ... seconds", and requires me to grab the mouse to click on "retry", by which time someone else will have sneaked in a dumb technical message, interrupting my beautifully crafted, witty, universally applicable, and most philosophic statement—very likely with some stupid template meta-programming bullshit.
I'm kind of sad I turned my web socket thing off last night and missed that wave

4:29 PM
@SmokeDetector Someone wants to test the question ban algorithm?

2 hours later…
6:16 PM
Hm, quite a bit of trolling going on.

hm.

1 hour later…
8:01 PM
@SmokeDetector lol
Less ammo for the troll.

8:58 PM
room mode changed to Private: only approved users may enter this room (this should only be used for moderation purposes)
(temporary measure)
@hichris123 @Doorknob @Seth what would you think of putting the titles of posts in the alt-text for SD?
Or do you think the troll will get tired of it eventually?

I don't see a reason, as of now.
However, if it continues...

The other problem I see is that it's trivial the bypass the regexes if you know them.
So... maybe we turn the regexes into a config file?

Well yeah, but it's not supposed to be a catch-all thing.
Just to weed out at least some of it.

Why not?

@Undo Because if a troll or spammer looks at a GH repo... they're doing a ton more work then they should.

9:01 PM
We should try to catch everything we can. And this guy knowing the patterns, he can avoid them if he wants.
true
but some trolls have a lot of time

But that's probably when something from a CM should happen.

... like incorporate SD into the system? Not gonna happen :P

meh
and guys, please stop abusing private rooms.

@Undo No, like IP bans and delete stuff.

none of this is moderation related.

9:02 PM
That's true...

Most certainly is ATM

@Undo nope, not really.

But anyway, I don't really think we need this atm.

This has nothing to do with our jobs as SE mods.

room mode changed to Public: anyone may enter and talk
meh, okay

9:05 PM
in case you're wondering how this is different than that other case, I'd argue that was moderation. We needed a private place to actively collaborate spam flags when no mods were around. We tried numerous public places and he always followed us and got encouragement from reading what we said and "responding" in his spam.
In this case, someone was actively nuking the accounts within seconds.
All we needed was to shut the bot down (maybe that's something you could work on @Undo?) and stop talking about it.

This convo should really be move to the trashcan so we don't feed the troll.
@Seth There is a feature.

@hichris123 meh

I... wonder if that feature actually still works.

but I think giving certain users the ability to temp. stop the bot is a good feature that would have come in useful.
@Undo hm?

!!/stappit

9:07 PM
~~stappit
^ that's the one.

Oh right, different command.

In theory it'll work.

I'm not sure a publicly available command is a good idea, but it works I guess.

it only works for me, hichris, and manish @Seth

ah cool.

9:08 PM
and apparently it doesn't work for me :P

~~stappit

should probably give it to some other folks too (since neither of you were around). Particularly folks from the tavern.

@Seth probably

Jun 30 at 21:14, by Undo
I can't make stappit work.
@Undo ^

yeah
It's not working.

9:09 PM
hm

Hmm... @manishearth?

2 hours later…
11:26 PM
2 messages deleted
Whoops, almost deleted the room >.>

@Seth If you are not Oded... please, don't go around breaking the room for no reason :/

Hey! I didn't break anything.. yet.

Hey @Seth, click the "flag" button on one of @Braiam's messages. It brings great things to him.

11:42 PM
Stop and do the Doorknob!
Sounds like a dance, don't 'ya think?

@hichris123 yeah, when you grab your partner tightly and start spinning

@hichris123 heh

11:56 PM
@Undo I would prefer to see the title at a glance (and in the sidebar)
@hichris123 Everybody do the doorknob! flails around on the ground
