The chatroom claims they support Atom feeds, but github commits do not work (it did pull the latest five commits, once), I tried all kinds of Atom to RSS services, neither of those seem to work... The regular SE questions and reddit RSS do work
> Yet, when I need to split a message in the chat because it gets too long (I know you wouldn't have guessed, but I am a bit long-winded sometimes), cut out the second half, hit enter, paste it back, and hit enter again, the chat server greets me with "you can try this action in ... seconds", and requires me to grab the mouse to click on "retry", by which time someone else will have sneaked in a dumb technical message, interrupting my beautifully crafted, witty, universally applicable, and most philosophic statement—very likely with some stupid template meta-programming bullshit.

in case you're wondering how this is different than that other case, I'd argue that was moderation. We needed a private place to actively collaborate spam flags when no mods were around. We tried numerous public places and he always followed us and got encouragement from reading what we said and "responding" in his spam.
In this case, someone was actively nuking the accounts within seconds.
All we needed was to shut the bot down (maybe that's something you could work on @Undo?) and stop talking about it.
