7:00 PM
@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 Hmm okay.
If you need any more suggestions...
You could, for example, have the script behave more rigorously (add some fail-safe that makes it slightly slower) only in certain apps.

@JSBձոգչ Something about a mathematician monk who was a kind of inquisitor. It was written as a letter to his wife I think, describing his interactions with someone who had developed an alternate geometry and was considered a heretic.

@terdon ah, that one. well, you can read the whole story online
other than what's been posted, there isn't any more. (sorry?)

@JSBձոգչ Ah, shucks. That was an interesting world. Reminded me a little of Stevenson's Anathem.

@MattЭллен is very quiet. Are you at home now?

I'm at home

7:07 PM
@terdon Why don't you write an additional chapter to it.
@MattЭллен Yay! How long have you been away?

no time? :D

Oh, I misread.
I read "I'm home".

I mean, I was out for 10 hours at work/commuting

Right, right.

7:08 PM
I hadn't seen you in a while and my misreading caused me to conjecture a mini-vacation of sorts.

ah! I guess I've been quiet in chat

And I've been away from chat a lot.

up to anything exciting?

Oh, nothing super special.

just regularly special, huh?

7:09 PM
But I was away from the keyboard for most of the weekend.
Yup the regular special.
With ketchup.

did you go somewhere nice?
oh :D

A party on Saturday that I had to help set up, and the museum yesterday.
How was your weekend?
Are you watching the new Downton?
(I'm not.)

I assume that means it was a good party :)

Sure, it was all right.

I've never watched downton :D I am watching the new Doctor Who?

7:11 PM
Oh!
That is no doubt equally entertaining.

I mean, I get the general idea about it
but it doesn't appeal to me
Saturday I went for a run

It is basically an historical soap opera.
Oh, that's good.

and now I have a weird bruise on my wrist, seemingly because of it, but I don't know why
it doesn't hurt if I prod it

Odd.
So it doesn't bother you much?

I had lunch with my mum on Sunday, which was nice
@Cerberus other than being mysterious, no

7:13 PM
Are you close to you mother?
@MattЭллен That I could live with.

I became an uncle, I think that happened on Thursday :D

Oh congrats!
Do you like babies?

thanks :D
I've not had one of my own, so I guess they're OK!

Hah.

I'm looking forward to doing uncle-y things

7:14 PM
OK.
I myself am rather indifferent towards the little critters.

@MattЭллен Cool! Congratulations! Other people's babies are great!

They're fine, but I'm not cooing all over them like some of my friends.

@terdon yes! I don't have to raise them, just watch them be cute

@Cerberus Yeah. Kids I like, babies, meh. They don't do anything until they start making loud noises or obnoxious smells. When they start moving around and talking, then they're cute.

@terdon Really? My friend, who has a 5-months-old baby, says I am not to worry, she still hates all other babies like always.

7:16 PM
@Cerberus lol

I hate kids who run around in shopping malls.

Well, great in the sense that you can give them back to their parents when they start bawling/stinking :)

@terdon I see. I have to say I dread the day when my dear friend's own baby will walk.
@terdon Okay, that I can follow.
@WillHunting Agreed.

@Cerberus is it some kind of monster?

Like all toddlers, yes, no doubt.

7:17 PM
ah

Or at what age does one become a toddler?
The baby is unremarkable.
At least it isn't screaming all the time, like the worst babies.
It just lies there looking at you with friendly eyes and wobbly arms.

So it's all right.

the toddlers I've met have varied between terrors and quiet and shy

Well, when they start talking you can actually have a conversation with them. Makes them far more interesting.

7:21 PM
@MattЭллен Right, exactly. The shy ones are OK.
@terdon Absolutely. But not nearly as interesting as adults. And most adults are dreadfully boring.

@Cerberus or are they serial killers secretly plotting your demise?

Okay, okay, toddlers can be funny and cute.
@MattЭллен Haha, like cats?

yes, but with opposable thumbs!

Which is not a good thing in this case!

@MattЭллен Harmonizing thumbs are better.

7:27 PM
if we could create cats with harmonising thumbs...

We have the technology!

7:50 PM
@Cerberus when it starts to toddle.

Which is usually well after it starts to tiddle.

I really do not have one left Of limerick’s I am bereft I think I am done Except for this one I hope that it’s got enough heft

8:30 PM
@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 Hmm I s'ppose.

@Cerberus Google's logo is rather bright and not centered on the robot

@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 It doesn't need to be dark or centred, it's so big.

@Cerberus What I mean is that it doesn't look like it's part of that robot. It looks like it was just pasted in front of it.
a back-lit behemoth so large that it appears as a silhouette wouldn't have a visible logo unless the logo was glowing.

@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 Perhaps the message is that Google itself is in plain sight, but its evil shadow looms less conspicuously in the background?

@Cerberus Wow, that's quite close to the reality, I think. :)

8:42 PM
It is!
And hi.

Hi!

@Cerberus I think someone just took someone else's drawing of robot facebook and decided to badly photoshop in a Google robot without thinking things through.

I think there is another robot behind that giant one.

It rips off the original artist of that comic, plus the giant robot from some movie, plus Google's logo.
and does it badly.
That's the real crime.

Iron Giant?
the original artist's name is still on the piece

8:57 PM
that's something, at least
well, i'm outta here.

Later pal

9:08 PM
@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 Umm crime?
It is nicely done.

1 hour later…
10:14 PM
@Cerberus Yeah

11:14 PM
@tchrist How inappropriate.

11:55 PM
@Cerberus Entertain me.
