@terdon Well, I tried to learn from a swimming teacher once, but somehow I don't think my strokes are correct, which is why I move very slowly through the water.
I usually think in way X. But sometimes, I somehow enter another state of mind, and I begin to think in way Y. Maybe I should try to think in way Y instead from now, as much as possible,
Maybe if I think in way Y as much as possible from now, I will finally be well.
@infinitesimal Yes, actually. If you name it right, people are predisposed to think certain things of it. If you call this wonderful cup of coffee 'tea' and then you drink it... yechhh.
@infinitesimal ha ha...no 'A Beautiful' stole my idea by saying it temporally before me.
If we focus too much on the cuteness of babies or young children, we forget that they are human beings with their own emotions, not just something cute for us to enjoy.
Looking at a cute child and feeling joy is not love. Caring about the child as a separate individual from you is love. QED.
This is a concept very hard for some people to understand. There is a difference between cathexis and love. Cathexis not to be confused with catharsis.
@ABeautifulMind I don't think so. I think she is not capable of love and doesn't understand that she is missing something from herself and so she will never feel the need to change that.
@Hanaa I use it in the psychological sense, not the everyday sense. It is known as antisocial personality disorder, roughly speaking. You can check Wikipedia.
She doesn't think of herself as a bad parent. She is incapable of recognizing herself because she can't see anything but herself. She is her own entire universe.
I think it made me a better person and a better parent in the long run, because now I look at these things critically instead of just existing, like I think most people do.
@Hanaa My mother-in-law is like that. She's been a wonderful healing influence and role model in my life. I can't say enough good things about her.
@ABeautifulMind I have that problem too. Lots of people talk about role models, but I've never really felt that way towards anybody. Famous or someone I know personally.
I like the idea of Antarctica. The only reason governments care about it is for research, there's no military purpose to it. So they just split it up like a pie. Like in a cake cutting algorithm.
Asia is a big place. many different worlds there. It's like saying 'all people from Earth are the same'. Once you get there, people are totally different.
Take Siberia. Most people would say it is not nice.
It's a palindrome, the same letters forward and backwards. Also, the words say what they mean, live the opposite way of what you are (or hope you are) and praise bad things. It's supposed to be funny.
@Cerberus It's not mine. But you can give me all praise, just because.
