I've been to Hooters. It's terribly disappointing.

user19161
@KitFox Yes, they don't have a figure as nice as yours.

@KitFox oh? Well, if I get the chance, I'll have to go, so we can compare notes.

user19161
@MattЭллен They had sexy pictures in the toilet as well. :-)

Q: I made photos of plants in a garden. In which SE forum may I ask what they are?

winerdI made photos of a plants in a garden I have to make nice. In which SE forum may I ask what they are? My guess is "biology" or maybe "home improvement", but I'm not sure.

Mathematics.SE

Hm. I have to blame y'all for making it so that the first words I see here are "sexy pictures", "Hooters", and "nude"
Normally people would blame the observer as having the mind but thanks to Dwig, I have to second guess my "Hey, this place looks normal today" that I have everywhere else.

You didn't want to see our balrogs, so them's not showing. Your pick. Balrogs or undies. That's the dichotomy.

I had no objection to balrogs. Only mild bemusement at their frequency

Then hold ne while we sudo s/porn/balrogs/gi; also, sandwich;.
This can take about seven Microsoft minutes. Or eight.

Q: "I see someone every two days"

Olly Price"I see someone every day" - meaning you see someone every day. "I see someone every other day" - meaning you see someone one day, not the next, then the day after, but not the next and so on. What is "I see someone every two days"? I am sure it means you see someone, have a 2 day break, see the...

Why does this question is still on the homapage?

Because we haven't edited 45 other questions yet?

8:34 PM
Ah, I see!

Home page shows the latest 48 questions with at least -3 score in order by activity as deemed by the criteria of activity

@GraceNote 48? Not 50? What is this grammar?
OMG I just got an invitation to vote for Evan Carroll. Kewl.

Reg, yes: 48-2=50

@ЯegDwight how can you refuse?

Haha, no effing way, I really can vote for Evan Carroll!

8:37 PM
@ЯegDwight Yeah, on the front page we show 48

In fact they make it extra hard not to. He's one of three candidates, and I have three votes.

At least he's not doing it in BOLD ITALICS.

It's not uncommon for people to cast double or even single votes
@ЯegDwight Oh, that was fixed. Twice.

@GraceNote How undemocratic.

8:39 PM
Eh, it's their choice to allow their vote to only represent one potential individual

Damn that election looks like fun. Why didn't I run?

hmmmm. two users with meta participation and over 10 helpful flags , and one with no meta participation and 1 helpful flag. such a choice.

Hello @Grace, who are you? Are you new here? I do not ever seen you.

Not this again.
Grace's day ends just the way it began.

8:40 PM
@ЯegDwight So is as it is

He better hope it's not Groundhog Day.

@Carlo_R. I don't think that "Do not ever seen" is a common construct, especially with the tense wonkidonks.

Next question: who is wonky donks?
Is he related to Willy Donks? Or Milly Wonka?

Anyway, you might not recognize me since I had a bit of change of face, but I'm the Stack Exchange Employee who ran the Town Hall Chat during your most recent election. You were one of the people asking questions there.

Sorry, I'm not native @Grace

8:42 PM
No worries, but you can't learn without, well, learning, no?

Oh haha, right. Grace was the Rchern stand-in of the year.
I actually forgot.
Speaking of forgetting, where's that nifty election representation with badges and all. Need it for voting on WebApps...

@Grace Ah, I remember now. You told me to be a professional troll.

@Carlo_R. No I didn't

@Grace Sure, you told me that

No, I didn't. I can even bring up the full chat log

8:47 PM
Hmmm... If I found that fragment I tell you

I told you (repeatedly, perhaps) that the room's purpose was to ask questions for candidates and not to campaign against another candidate. Not once did I ever insult you in such a fashion

@ЯegDwight You can run now

@Grace I like your wording. So good.

@Carlo_R. To be or not to be?

Damn. I knew this day would come. I am looking for something and can't find it.

The Maya was right.

@ЯegDwight Isn't it at something like elections.stackexchange.com?

Well you tell me now.
How would I know you capitalist monkeys appropriated that poor guy's work.

We gave him hosting, I believe is how it is operated.
Kinda like how we gave data.stackexchange hosting at first

And anyway, that's totally unrelated to my not finding it.

8:51 PM
Is that what you were looking for? If not, there are other people I can poke to help

...

There was a thread on MSO, nothing. There were mentions in this room, nothing. There were comments on our meta, nothing.
@GraceNote It is.
And thank you.

I need help

Ah, good. You're welcome. Glad that it was the right thing.
What's up, Carlo?

Some people are agains me

user19161
8:52 PM
@Carlo_R. Not again.

But i am good

@WillHunting Agreed.

okay

user19161
Carlo, I don't think people are biased against you.

There is no mafia.

user19161
8:53 PM
Perhaps we are all on different wavelengths, the way I see it.

then... who am I paying all this protection money to?

user19161
@MattЭллен It comes to me.

That goes to my coffee cake bakery.

that makes a lot of sense
both versions

Mmm

8:58 PM
Well, that was fun and helpful.

user19161
@simchona It was the Communists in the case of NS.

Oh, come on. NS was fun for the whole family!

He wasn't very family friendly.

user19161
Not really. At first it was fun. But it became quite evil after that.

user19161
He impersonated waiwai.

9:04 PM
He wasn't very good at that.

time for me to shuffle off this conscious coil. For a few hours anyway. Toodles!

Whoa! time for me to shuffle off too! Well, off to the daycare. bye folks

user19161
@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 Bye.

user19161
@MattЭллен Night.

9:11 PM
Well I'll be logging off as well, then.
Trying to get more sleep these days.
Ouvert et haut !

user19161
@ЯegDwight Bye. See you in your dreams.

Brrrrr

Brrrr x 2

@WillHunting My son has a classmate whose surname is Waiwai.

user19161
@DavidWallace Wow, I don't know which language that would be.

9:18 PM
I believe he's Māori.

Waiwai seems a Japanese sound to italian ear
Or Maybe, Chinese

Wai is Māori for water. I don't know what it means when doubled.

@GraceNote It doesn't sound like an insult. Well, at least not a very good one. If they can make a living at it, well, good for them.

I love the film of Bruce Lee, who was a karate man, and he ever said waiwai in his action

@DavidWallace Hawaiian for water, too.

user19161
@Carlo_R. I watch Bruce Lee movies too.

@WillHunting -in- the toilet? I don't think they're doing it right then.

@Mitch In the context to which Carlo has been called one, it was meant with a very negative connotation.

@simchona My understanding is that Hawaiian and Māori are very closely related, and have lots of words in common.

user19161
@Mitch Yes, in the toilet. The toilet being the whole room with sinks and cubicles. And they had it in the cubicles as well, so ...

9:22 PM
My mother used to write "trolls" on her shopping list, as an abbreviation for "toilet rolls".

user19161
@DavidWallace I wonder why that is so.

In italy we say 'igienic paper'

@WillHunting Because the Māori are not in fact native to New Zealand, but came here from Polynesia a few hundred years ago.
Many of the languages of the eastern and central Pacific are closely related.

user19161
@Carlo_R. Igienic?

@WillHunting Ohhhh...when some one says 'toilet', I think only of the porcelain receptacle. The room is the 'bathroom' (AmE)

9:25 PM
Yes we say "igenica" i though english version was 'igienic'

@WillHunting hygienic in English.

@Carlo_R., do you still need help?

No I use well the higienic paper

user19161
@Mitch Yes, I know about the bathroom. So what do you call the actual bathroom at home then? The shower?

@Carlo_R. nice comeback!

user19161
9:27 PM
I am lost.

user19161
This hygienic talk.

@WillHunting the whole room is the 'bathroom'. the shower head and space and shower curtain, that small area is called the 'shower'.

user19161
@Mitch Ah, it's weird you call the public toilet the bathroom when no bathing takes place.

@WillHunting let me spell it out for you. Simchona said " do you still need help?' meaning, does Carlo need help with the word in English still, but then Carlo responded. 'No I use toilet paper just fine, thank you' (I embellish) forcing the double entendre of 'help' to mean help -using- the toilet paper. Very RegDwightian.

user19161
@Mitch That is not my interpretation. My interpretation is that she mentioned help because Carlo mentioned it a few messages above in the transcript. That's why this room is incomprehensible!

9:32 PM
@WillHunting Yes, it is weird. But that's what they say in the US. 'I have to go to the bathroom' means (as a dead metaphor; i.e. it is not a metaphor, it is idiomatic) I have to urinate or defecate. If you need to take a bath or shower, one doesn't say 'I need to go to the bathroom' because that would mean something else. You'd say "I ned to take a bath (or shower)"
@WillHunting ?? Where does Carlo mention help? I don't see it.

user19161
42 mins ago, by Carlo_R.
I need help

@Mitch I don't think it's a metaphor. Not even a dead one.
A metaphor would be "I need to go to the china cabinet".

@DavidWallace oh sorry. -figurative-. it's metonymy.

user19161
@DavidWallace WTF!

@DavidWallace Well don't let me stop you.
@WillHunting Oh. I forgot about that. Anyway, the joke interpretation was much more entertaining.

9:36 PM
@Mitch You should get that tonymy looked at.

user19161
Also @mitch I interpreted Carlo's words as "I use, well, hygienic paper" with the commas there.

@DavidWallace Yeah I got a synecd ache.
@WillHunting No I interpreted it as 'I use toilet paper well'.

@Mitch Yes, it has to be that way. Because if he didn't say that he uses it well, then he's not denying needing help.

@DavidWallace My aposiopesis needs to be...well I think I'll go to the pharmacy for that.
I am sorry for speaking so much about my parrhesia.

user19161
Speaking of toilet paper, there are some that are so thin that they are no good at all.

user19161
9:40 PM
I wonder if the manufacturers actually test it out.

@WillHunting I wrote to one and complained, but didn't get any joy.

user19161
This reminds me of buses. There are some adjacent seat rows that are so close that one can't really sit properly in the row behind because there is not enough space.

user19161
Again, I think no testing was done.

user19161
So I think these people who make toilet paper and buses are quite stupid.

Some of our trains have a row of 16 or so contoured seats, along the length of the train. All you need is one fat person, and everyone else has the edge of a seat where the sun doesn't shine.
@WillHunting Thin isn't a problem, because you can use it double. Soft is a problem. Candy floss anyone?

user19161
9:43 PM
@DavidWallace The trick is to let the fat person take two seats, and then the rest can sit normally.

9:54 PM
@WillHunting It would have to be three.
@MattЭллен It is both a pronoun and a determiner.

@David hello David. What is in NZ the sensation on the recent European problems? From here NZ seems so far.

Which particular European problems?

Recession
Greek, for example, are on the red line

Most NZers don't understand how the problems in Europe might affect us here. We had a recession; and now we're pulling out of it - our economy is quite strong. Also, our main trading partners are USA, Australia, and certain Eastern Asian countries. So we're less worried about the problems in Europe than we would be if they were happening in USA, for example.

So, NZers are practically disinterested in European problems? Are they?

10:10 PM
Not all New Zealanders. But many, yes.

Another great problem for European people is the escalation in conflict in Medio Orient (siria and iran, especially). Our first page speak only of this. Are NZ preoccupied for Iran situatin?
It seems Iran has a functionant atomic bomb.

Personally, I am concerned about the Iran situation, yes. But most New Zealanders are not.

Europens are particularly preoccupied for this new weapon. Iran could be attak Israel; this is the problem.

It seems to me far more likely that either Israel or the United States would attack Iran.

It depend. If Obama win the problems could be resolved.
Otherwise we will see the fourth world war

10:22 PM
I don't trust Obama not to start another war in the Middle East.

1 hour later…
11:47 PM
sulks

Stuff.

Apparently they’ve had a third world war without telling us about it.
Since Carlo thinks we’d be on our fourth.
That’s cause for sulking.

You don't know about World War III?
What are they teaching kids these days.

Those brain cells must be gone.
Perhaps I was in the Wilderness at the time.

11:54 PM
@tchrist You know, when I read that comment from Carlo, it didn't strike me as odd at all. It seems that I also can't count.

Maybe he is from another planet.
Yay, more girl power!
Has the time vampire been back?

I don't know who you mean.

prime

guru

ogre

11:57 PM
I haven't seen them.

He won't be back for a while, most likely.

They won't talk to me if they do come.

They? There's another?

@KitFox Really? How refreshing a thought!
He seems almost not to exist.
