let's ruin it with votes

A: Delimiter-matching using Stack in Java

janosI think {[( are not called "delimiters", they are called brackets. A delimiter is for example the comma in a CSV format, or the semicolon in a for (;;) { ... }. @janos Correct, I would have needed at least +100 from accepts, or winning other bounties

4:23 PM
@rolfl that kinda sucks, doesn't it

so, no rep cap for me yesterday.... I lost a fair amount of rep.

probably not more than me

Have you guys all discovered your text-based reputation page?

I wasted more rep yesterday than ever

What you see when you go to: codereview.stackexchange.com/reputation

4:25 PM
yes

@janos Huh, with the bounty, I lost 155 yesterday.

you didn't really "lose" the bounty, you gave it away

Correct, but I have lost more than you in the past, though I am far from the worst off: data.stackexchange.com/codereview/query/164174/…

Ermagherd JSR flood in my Bibliography...

@rolfl why is 200_success in your list multiple times? Is that by design?

Those are actual days that he/we lost rep. If you cap multiple days, you are in the list once per time.

Oh ok

At the time I wrote that query, there were just a dozen or so entries ... ;-)
Now it is getting big.

Actually, if you sort by Total Lost... you have the most!

4:43 PM
Is it normal to have written a single page and already have 3 JSR Bibliographics entries?

I know.... without the rep cap, I would be at about 44K. ;-)
But, if I look at Jon Skeet's numbers, it's all put back in perspective.

Jon Skeet is the Chuck Norris of Stack Exchange.

Actually, who am I kidding, the rep cap is good for me... without the cap, I would just keep answering ;-)

erm, of Stack Overflow
yes, the rep cap helps keeping addiction in check
yeay, marauder hat :)

he has lost almost 2Million rep.
he has 700K rep.
On the 12th April, he lost more rep than I have lost in total.

4:48 PM
and he's still answering

@rolfl He lost thrice the amount he has???? (jawdrop)

Put a different way, he has 700K, and that's just a quarter of what he should have....

Toodles!
ahem, I'll be late for practice it seems..

Cheers...

So, I just got back my CS1 test. Turns out they took off 5 points because I didn't write out their pseudo code out into the exact same C++ code because it was nonoptimal. Instead, I optimized it and then wrote it out.
After proving to them in a timed-test between the two programs (in which my algorithm won), I got the 5 points back :)

it's unfortunate that english does not really have a singular, gender-neutral pronoun for referring to people

twit? idiot? person? ... there are lots! :-)
pronoun, not so much

Singular they is the use of they, or its inflected or derivative forms, such as them, their or themselves, to refer to a single person or an antecedent that is grammatically singular. It typically occurs with an antecedent of indeterminate gender, as in sentences such as: "Everyone returned to their seats." "Somebody left their umbrella in the office. Would they please collect it." "If a person doesn't want to go on living, they are often very difficult to help." "The patient should be told at the outset how much they will be required to pay." "But a journalist should not be forced to reveal their...

@DanLyons it's not uncommon to refer to "this person" and "they" if the gender is unknown.
At least in colloquial English, not sure that would be valid in proper English.

6:46 PM
@syb0rg Target down.

@syb0rg lets read it againe

The program takes an input n that determines the number of terms in the approximation of the value of pi and outputs the approximation. Include a loop that allows the user to repeat this calculation for new values n until the user says she or he wants to end the program.

@RubberDuck Thanks!

In my opinion it means that i need to input increasing sequens for amount of term for approximations, like this:

1, 45, 784, 100500
@syb0rg, so you need to check this situation.
@syb0rg one more thing: I'm thinking that you will waiting while program return output for 1 billion term approximation, becouse for 1 million it is about 1 second, so 1 billion is 1000secs=50mins. That's why you are not really needed to use long long it is well enough of int.
@syb0rg, should I wait for feedback?

@syb0rg we could try to attract some of the tex.stackexchange users, and a LaTeX tag would certainly be useful here. The differentiation between "how do I", "how should I try to" and "how is my" could be very useful for TeX as well

@janos I accepted all your answers, No need to wait a week or three days, considering that we are already graduating(ed)

how does that make a difference?

7:19 PM
@Christoph I have some LaTex code I could put up in a bit, but I want to wait since I just posted a question not too long ago.

@janos should I still wait for few days before accepting as usual ?

I don't really know if you "should" or not
I usually wait, to let the question receive more attention
already answered questions are not so attractive to question hunters

@janos you mean already accepted ?

@syb0rg, what do you think?

@outoftime I hope you don't mind that I edited your answer to improve the grammar :)

Welcome and thank you!

@Phrancis Nope, but thanks!

Good answer BTW, IMO

Huh, refiner badge on SO
that's a nice one.

Ah, that's gone live?

Well, it's live now on CR as well, but noone has been awarded any of the three. I expect there will be only 1 refiner on CR.
These are brand new badges, just announced

Only one? 50 edits + answers shouldn't be that exquisite

Jamal is going to be all over that one

Q: New three-tiered badge idea: Explainer -> Refiner -> Illuminator

Tim PostThe difference between a poor or meh question and a stellar question can often simply be someone understanding it and providing it a great answer. I can't begin to count the number of times I've justified re-opening a question as a moderator by saying: Look at the answer it got, though. This ...

Too bad I can't see the progress for the 3rd one though..

@JeroenVannevel The requirements are a lot tougher than just editing.
You have to edit, and answer together

mhhm sure, but often I find myself cleaning up the question before or after my answer anyway (although not on CR)

The stats for CR will be, approximately, data.stackexchange.com/codereview/query/227430/…

I got bronze on meta and so...

^^^ that shows names.

Also thanks @Jamal

@rolfl I could not for the life of me find out the graduation announcement date for Money. But I posted the rest.

The announcement side of things is haphazard.

I get the impression that around the beginning of this year they started reporting the decision to graduate has been made... whereas before that, they would only reveal when the site was basically done the design

I created a wallpaper (for CR duh !) where should I post it ?

^^ @JaDogg as an answer to the logo/design meta post maybe?

Add it to the site logo meta post: meta.codereview.stackexchange.com/questions/70/…
Note that these are just suggestions ;-)

Q: Speeding up storage of about 22000 values in Core Data

Michael ShamashI use this code on the app's first run to save about 220000 values into core data. The file Navaids.txt has about 200000 and Waypoints.txt has about 20000 lines, where I get data from each line and put it in an entity in core data. I am still kind of new to CD but would like to see how i can imp...

@Vogel612 I see the badges have been awarded on meta, thanks.... only bronze on there ;-)
But nothing on main site yet.
Also, I did not get a notification of the meta-site badge... hmmm

A: Code Review SE is graduating!

MalachiMore of a Request than something that we could do better, I would like to see us all get a cool badge that participated in Public Beta and brought CodeReview back to life!

@outoftime Good! +1

A: What should our logo and site design look like?

JaDoggI had some free time (No actually it's 2:56 AM, way past my bed time). So I whipped this up (Not a logo,but a wallpaper). btw I'm not a graphic designer. But I know how to Google. :D Download PSD and 1920x1080 PNGs Preview Version 1 Version 2 Version 3 PS : See if you can find your...

Pretty cool @JaDogg !

This Prog.SE question seems like straight from the Daily WTF. The application needs to insert stuff into an SQL Server DB, but uses a “custom sync process”. The obvious solution is mash the data into a string and stuff it along with the query into SQLite. Another program reads the queries from there, parses the arguments via string.split(), and inserts them into SQL Server. No chance of SQL injection, because of parameterized queries. Suure :/

Stuff a query into a string into a different RDBMS, and shove it back in SQL Server... What?
Then selfie answer with another question in it...
Guys in The Whiteboard must be laughing their asses off.
TTGH bye all!
