I have actually used math with my current employer. There was a formula in some code and I thought to myself "That looks like a quadratic formula with the signs all messed up." so I researched the origin of the original formula, solved the for the appropriate variable, and lo and behold, I got a quadratic equation with oddly signed coeffecients.
 
@Donald.McLean The closest story I have is having to use trigonometry to find the angle a shelf should set at in our modeling software.
 
I also ran into a situation where I needed to do an integral, but it had been too long and I just couldn't work it out. Fortunately, when you work in a building full of PhD astronomers and such, some of them can still do that kind of math.

Secondly in OO I do not like to see logic in the static void main except building your testcase. Your 4 first lines are correct (maybe it could be in a method), but your last line should be like System.out.println("\n" + GunMenShotDown.whoStands(players).getNumber() + " lives another day..."). Okay, let's clear this up.
There is Sass, the preprocessor for CSS and then this preprocessor has two kinds of syntaxes: The default one is …Sass (sic!) and the other one is SCSS.
I recommend you looking into the code examples at sass-lang.com for both and guess that you probably want to use the SCSS syntax.
I believe, Sass and SCSS are synonymized on SO (and CR?) because splitting them up wouldn't be super useful.
 
Oh yes, I use SCSS, not Sass. That looks like Python to me, without the braces
 
I'd like to see some numbers on how many people actually use the default Sass syntax instead of SCSS.
By the way, that's what the file extension is about: the chosen syntax.

Are there proper ways to unit test procedures in databases? Requiring a clean database and just a handful of records
 
you could try create an expected result and have a stored proc comparing it to the actual result
other than that, you could also get the result via O/R-Mapping to JUnit it.
