11:04 PM
Hey everyone.

Hey there.

vzn
@DanielSank huh? youre referring me bad questions now? :(

@vzn wut?
I think you guys have similar interests.
Actually maybe not.
I dunno.

vzn
@DanielSank ?!? you said its a bad question & then referred it to me

@vzn I wasn't trying to refer that particular question to you.
I just thought that since it's about a wacky way of doing quantum computing, that you guys might have fun talking about it.
You get really excited about stuff like that.

vzn
11:14 PM
oh yeah DS thats me Mr Wacky ty so much @#%&

Oh come on. You don't like crazy new ideas?
Seriously, dude?

vzn
@DanielSank so do you enjoy mocking me & others?

I was just trying to help :-(

vzn
@DanielSank "help" your own egotism? superiority? :(

11:15 PM
Uh. Ok.

Tan math is a bit sensitive.

@vzn His frowny face had more character than yours, I'm afraid he wins this argument

vzn
@skullpetrol DS is sensitive

do I smell drama :)

vzn
@BernardoMeurer lol finally someone said something funny around here :P

11:17 PM
@0celouvsky I tried to direct TanMath's interest in speculative / interesting / whatever proposals for quantum computation to vzn and now vzn is annoyed or offended.

vzn
@0celouvsky yep pop out the popcorn munch munch

I guess you can call that drama.
@vzn Can I have some?

vzn
@DanielSank sure. you get the burned ones and the kernel leftovers.

@vzn Y U so mean? :-(

I recall tan math crying in here

11:18 PM
@vzn I wish my German neighbour has the same humour as you

vzn
@DanielSank am sure in your circles calling something wacky, fun, crazy exciting stuff is the height of a putdown... cuz science just aint like that for the serious pros now is it

> am sure in your circles calling something wacky, fun, crazy exciting stuff is the height of a putdown
That's not very nice.
You're making unfounded claims about my "circles".
Oh well.

@vzn His circles are basically me and star wars movies
and Metroid

vzn
@DanielSank trolling/ flamebaiting is not nice.

What on earth is flame baiting

11:21 PM
ACM is your neighbour? @BernardoMeurer

@skullpetrol I wish! I'd be getting laid a lot more!

@vzn What the hell, man? All I did was suggest TanMath talk to you about the biocomplex computer thing.
I know squat about it, but you read a lot of articles.
He seemed pretty excited about the idea.
Since you're into comp sci.

@vzn I think you're being biased towards DS here, he was just trying to join two people with possibly similar interests

@vzn @DanielSank let's talk about the next AMA

11:23 PM
Hm

vzn
@DanielSank yeah sounds pretty innocent right? except you called it a bad question

I bet Craig Gidney or Jess Riedel would do it.
Jess already agreed.
@vzn Yeah, I didn't like it. I wouldn't answer it. I thought you would find it interesting. People are different, dude. Jeezus.

vzn
3 hours ago, by DanielSank
It's a bad question because it's asking how to do a strange variation of a thing, where the person asking the question doesn't understand the basic case first.

What about Ben?

@skullpetrol sure

11:24 PM
I'm guessing there is some kind of isomorphism between the orthogonal frame bundle and the symmetric tensor (0,2) bundle

vzn
@DanielSank yeah lets get everyone together who doesnt understand stuff and then talk about it. that would be fun/ crazy/ interesting/ exciting/ wacky. for everyone except DS, presumably. (people are different!) :)

I suggested it @DanielSank but he gave no answer.

@skullpetrol well that's that.

Relax @vzn no big deal.

like $g_p(v,w) = \sum_i \langle \langle \theta^i, v \rangle, \langle e_i, v \rangle \rangle$
Or something
I dunno

11:26 PM
@vzn Are you suggesting that it is wrong of me to have different interests from you and simultaneously suggest that someone else, who I think has similar interest to you, seek you out?

vzn
@skullpetrol am tired of DS dinging tanmath. tanmath rarely visits & as soon as he shows up, DS tells him he has a lame question. (& maybe his not visiting much might have something to do with that.) at least tanmath cited a paper. @#%&

how do you express $g_{\mu\nu} = \eta_{ab} e^a_\mu e^b_\nu$ in a fancy way

@vzn Why are you encrypting your line breaks?

@vzn And I am sick of TanMath taking up hours of my time while I give him very well meaning and thoughtful advice, and then he ignores it and asks for help on the same thing again and again for over a year.

Okay @vzn let it go for now.

vzn
11:28 PM
@DanielSank & nobody is forcing you to respond to tanmath are they? you think criticism is better than silence?

it's not even good encryption, it comes out @#%& all the time

If you think it's your job to judge how I choose to spend my own time and effort, that's great, but I disagree.
@vzn Yes, I do, actually.
Perhaps I am mistaken.
And you know what, he emails me too.

vzn
@DanielSank lol, you literally just judged your own time and effort as wasted on tanmath.

@vzn Criticism is better than silence most of the time

Get off my back.

11:29 PM
Almost-everywhere to be precise

@vzn Go read the chat history and judge for yourself.

This is why I don't trust javascript

Why don't you go get some information before you accuse me of wrongdoing?

@Slereah What's that?

I just get random bugs when running the chat

11:29 PM
Use LibreJS

I spent hours trying to help him and he ignored what I (and others) told him.

It's Firebug

For months.
Over and over and fucking over.

vzn
context, recently got dinged by mod ACM for not being nice to n00bz

It's a console to debug javascript

11:30 PM
@vzn That has zero to do with me.
Don't take your frustration out on me.

vzn
@DanielSank & maybe dont take your frustration out on tanmath.

@vzn I didn't. For fuck's sake I told him that I thought the question was not too broad but that I wouldn't answer it and I explained why.
I was giving him the consideration of coherent and thoughtful feedback and all you see is "dinging".

Is it an analog of the following
if reality were 2d
then i did some stuff in (2+n)d
say I got a 3d torus
I say something like
effectively if i make the radius of taurus really small it is a circle
and then i say a low energy everything is fine?
Something like this?
R(3,1) * M6 = Something(10)
then some decomposition and making e really small
something like that?
It is hard to convey full thoughts and ideas in chat lol
anyways subject to some constraints super poincare must hold

11:36 PM
@Cows I eat glue, can't help you

etc
@BernardoMeurer hehe no worries I eat glue sometimes too lol

@Cows Really?! Elmers is the best isn't it?

Did you really think your urban dictionary link was going to break them up?

@BernardoMeurer yes it is pretty sweet

@BernardoMeurer @Cows From another glue-eater, nah, it's definitely glue funneled straight from a glue-gun. Elmer's is only an afterthought lol

11:41 PM
Doesn't anyone sniff glue anymore?

vzn
@TanMath figuring out how to reduce arbitrary problems/ algorithms to QM based optimization is cutting edge research. (reminds me a lot of dwave/ chimera etc...) think there is some reasonable question here but it might be crosscutting into other areas than physics eg CS. there may be specific research relating QM optimization methods to biological problems. are you looking into FMO complexes or something related? also try dropping by Computer Science chat

@quanticbolt Who are you?

@Bernar
sorry @BernardoMeurer 3rd year ug student -- procrastinating on assignment by lurking here

@quanticbolt welcome to glue anonymous

@quanticbolt Where from?

11:43 PM
@BernardoMeurer Univ of Toronto

What's your mother's maiden name? What about the name of the street you grew up in?

@Cows thanks

hehe p-name hehe

@BernardoMeurer that's classified -- only my glue dealer knows for sure
